I think you have surpassed yourself Ian, not only is the content useful, as always but the professionalism in the production of the video ranks amongst the best I've ever seen.
Very informative this Ian thanks for the video. My HRI200 arrived today and there would have been a lot of frustration at my shack if I had not first seen this. Keep up the good work :) Dan 2E0WFL
Another excellent tutorial, thank you I am learning a lot this evening. Just one question, When using access mode does the other radio need to be a Yaesu?
Excellent set of videos. I have a question. I already have a node and room ID from Yaesu as I currently have a FTM100. I'm looking at replacing my FTM100 with the FTM400. Since I already have a node and room ID do I need a new node and room ID from Yaesu for a new radio? Or can I just use my current node and ID number? Thanks.
Hi and thanks for the question. The ID you currently have belongs to your FTM-100. You will need to apply for a new ID for your FTM-400. If you intend to sell on the FTM-100, you will need to deregister that with Yaesu as the existing registration is against you.
Thank you for some wonderful videos, I wonder if someone might be able to help me please. I want to use my ft-991a on wires-x, but I can't find out how to start my transceiver in wires-x mode, help please - Thanks ?
At last I have managed to connect with someone helpful. I am a rank beginner when it comes to digital radio and finding the wires-x topic totally bewildering despite having downloaded what should be the requisite documents from the Yaesu website. Please forgive my ignorance in trying to understand your reply, which I am very grateful for, but are you saying that the 991a cannot be directly connected to the Internet via my laptop please? All I want to do is access other rooms etc., without having to link to a fusion repeater and so I assume there is a way to prevent the 991a from actually transmitting, but go through the Internet instead? Sorry for such a verbose reply, but I hope it makes sense? Thank you very much.
@@carringtonlane2515 The 991A cannot be used with a laptop and WIRES-X. It has no way of doing that I'm afraid. To run a WIRES-X node, you need one of the later mobiles or handheld radios. The 991A is a radio with Fusion capabilities but is not intended as a node radio.
@@NorthWestFusionGroup Thank you very much for your kind support and patience to a novice such as myself this seems to be turning out to be a very complex system. If I am understanding what you are saying correctly does this mean that I need to use a hotspot locally connected to the web? I have seen the hri-200, but again uncertain if it can be used with the 991a? Thank you very much in advance.
The best and most straightforward explanation of Wires X. Thanks, VK8MC
Many thanks. I am so glad you found it useful :)

Thankyou Ray!
Thanks, you've made more sense in part1 and 2 than Yaesu have in 3 hours. Keep up the good work 73
Thankyou Alan. I am so glad they helped :)
Thank you NWFG for the two setup video's! Really well put together and helped me get on-air with my FT5D!
Brilliant Andy! I am so glad they were helpful :)
Now do a part 3 and show how you can setup bookmarks and use PDN as a RF Link for a repeater. Great Video Pt 1&2 !!!
Thankyou for your kind words :)
An extremely useful, concise and clear explanation, thank you! My head no longer spins when trying to make sense of this 👌
Great Dai, I am so glad it helped :)

Hi, the 991A does not have a PDN mode I'm afraid. It can access a node but cannot be set up as one.
