Before you ask "What did Trey think of TETRIS EFFECT?" or "Why does he play SO SLOW?", here's a second video where we answer those questions. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/0j_fp5L8Si8/видео.html
it was the first time he was playing with a diferent controller than the nes, so he had to play to get good and stuff. but then he played in the vr version and he did a tetris made of 12 erased lines. he thought it was great.
i have a question, have you ever made anything with your hands or preformed with an instrument? because that is another way to get that flow state you were talking about and i wonder if that mentality is more prevalent among some people causing them to be better puzzelers or musicians?
Giant fan of VR (on PC for years), 100% it was only the latency due to their TV likely not being optimal for gaming (or outside game mode) and the profi player being used to playing the NES version likely on a CRT. But the player even directly said it was the latency so Nick saying the immersion played a role seems made up to fit the theme.
oh right, screaming like a man-ape when opening a slightly fancier looking version of cardboard for a living is what you expected of life. but a video about tetris, catching your interest, is fucking ridiculous.
true. the foresight and planning is something to behold. Also (less related) nice timestamp, I appreciate it when people back it up a second or two for context
For a fast player ( 80 dpm+ ) that shouldve been a zone start and easily a potential Ultimatris, but for someone just starting on the game its impressive, specially since the leap from classic to modern can be confusing.

@Thiago Moura low latency is REALLY important in NES Tetris, which is probably why he noticed that. They can’t even play on newer TVs in NES Tetris, they HAVE to use old CRT TVs to play a lot of the higher levels.

fully caught myself holding my breath during the vr attempt on the decahexatris, and i'm not sure if it was because of the game (very beautiful) or the play (very good) or just because it was very cool to see someone make history. a good video
i got a video recommended that was just a japanese guy playing wii sports tennis and breaking the wall all the way from left to right so that it defyed gravity. I enjoyed it lmao. Nice recommend
The year is 20XX, Every Tetris player at the Tetris Championship uses a Playstation VR Headset with Tetris Effect. Competition has exceeded skill level and is instead based on the latency of their respective VR headsets.
It always amazes me how smart NES tetris players are with decision making... but they're so slow on any modern tetris system. Regardless, awesome video. Excited to pick up Tetris Effect later this year >:]
Like everyone else, I think this video is VERY well done. You explain things but don't talk in circles OVEREXPLAINING things. You keep it simple and I really enjoyed this video despite not caring about Tetris.
I wanna share something: When I was a teenager, I used to play a specific Tetris version called "Tetris Cascade" (2003) on my Motorola flip phone. It's basically Tetris with gravity. So if you would have hole below your soon-to-be-cleared line and a tetrimino placed above said line, it can fall into that hole after clearing and create another finished line. That way I could do 12 lines in one go. Very satisfying. Also I would do symmetric builds with a lot of those fall-in-holes up till the top of the window, and then activate that cascade. Oddly satisfying to watch the tetriminoes fall symmetrically until everything got cleared till the bottom. I loved that so much. More than classic Tetris. I still have the software copy on my PC but nothing to run it on. I miss it to this day.
I really like Trey, so many other people would have gone "ew, this is different. I'm not playing that". But he actually gave it his best shot and seemed to be hoping that he enjoyed it.
This is such a well made video and I never felt bored while watching and I’ve never had any interest in Tetris but I just couldn’t stop watching, you have earned yourself a new sub
I remember seeing this video before I really got into Tetris and being amazed and now that I've played a lot of Tetris Effect this seems so simple now. It's wild how much it puts into perspective how much better I am now. I'd be really interested to see a follow-up on the 20+ line clears now that Kirby managed to get 23.
Thank you so much for making this video. Seeing moments like this really elaborates on what gaming means to people, and how varied it's audience is and can be. Side note: I found a new appreciation for tetris.
Trey is more suited to pushing down pieces and taking his time to calculate the next best move. I don’t think Trey would be able to last a minute with the competition. But in CTWC? He’s one of the organizers for that event for a reason.
I was like, "why is a Tetris video recommended to me?" I watched it on a whim because its 2am I dont have work tomorrow, so why not. And welp... you just earned yourself a new subscriber.
Tetris Effect is SUCH an underrated game. I just spent about 6 hours straight with my Soundsystem cranked up, speakers on either side of my monitor, and 2000W Infinity subwoofer in the corner across the room just killin it. sooooo much fun and super addictive. I'll be trying multiplayer soon, which sounds like a total blast. I've been playing Tetris since Gameboy and they really outdid themselves on this one. the amount of care and attention to detail in this game leads me to believe that the devs ACTUALLY LIKE TETRIS. imagine that. Anyhoo, highly recommend this game. 9.5/10 easily and it is rather inexpensive at that. goes on sale on Steam pretty regularly, too. 😎😎😎
Came into this video really not expecting much as I've never been a Tetris fan... this video was absolutely awesome! That decahexatris bit was so good!
Wow. How time flies. This is definitely not expert tetris level play but it is so cool to see the early days of tetris effect! I'm Top 8 Global for Journey Mode (expert total), EGS if its platform specific, and I wish I could replay the game first time. Such a good game and mechanic.
The story telling in this video is incredible. I think you should make whatever videos you love to make but this combination of visuals, sounds, and narrative is something that could really stand out on this platform.
It was almost I guess “emotional” seeing Trey get into a new Tetris. The compassion he has for Tetris radiates from him. *not tear jerking “emotional”* *I did cry though*
Something I love about this game is the sounds, theyre beautiful. 7:50 I cannot watch/hear this and not say anything about it. Not even exaggerating, when I hear those higher pitch sounds, it made my eyes wattery, no tears just felt as if I was about to. I was able to play this game a little some years ago, hope I can again. (and I hope the multiplayer isnt dead)
Is it ridiculous that I started crying a little, seeing Trey get so immersed in this game that he's sort of pledged his life to? And exceed his own skill plateaus? Video games are such a beautiful tool for exploring the mind.
I especially respect Trey for giving it a chance and allowing himself to get so into it. A lot of people who focus on playing older games wont even try newer ones
Before you ask "What did Trey think of TETRIS EFFECT?" or "Why does he play SO SLOW?", here's a second video where we answer those questions. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/0j_fp5L8Si8/видео.html

Don't tell this guy about the new Tetris Battle Royale, he'll break the game
New Tetris is so different, go watch some new Tetris monsters start crushing tspins in their sleep
Wumbo is the king of Tetris 99 for now.
I'm not sure he would enjoy it honestly
Having blocks appear out of nowhere for basically no reason is so different from what he's used to
this guy getting a tetris after 20 hours vs 4 wided and triple t spinned ? uhhh
The Ninja/Tfue of Tetris 99
The guy is a legend! and I'm glad that even years or decades after, tetris is still tetris ... But more beautiful
Yasviele Pacifica Yeah most players would get bored
Yasviele Pacifica Tetris will still be Tetris
He's really not a legend. Go look at Korean Tetris players lmao
MyPoetry But he's the oldest one so he's still a legend
MyPoetry lmao he doesn't have to be the best to be a legend lmao. Lmao He's been playing for literal lmao decades lmao. He IS a legend lmao. Probably inspired thsoe Koreans kids too lmao
Nintendo hosting a huge Tetris competition is basically a damn E-Sports event. They were ahead of their time :-)
You should look up the 1989 film "The Wizard", which was sponsored by Nintendo and was essentially the first ever esports movie.
nice bait
+David Nintendo has always been an incredibly innovative and wholesome video-games company. Stop getting mad because you feel like you've joined a war when you bought a PS4 even tho Nintendo has been rocking since before you were born (I can assume you're around 15yo from those two words you said).
>Innovative and wholesome
My guy they've been holding back online gaming and fan games for the longest time. What is innovative or wholesome about that?
Raikaru Yet its Sony holding back cross-play where as Nintendo are fine with it

I'm really impressed. My eyes couldn't handle the graphics just watching. I can't imagine how a guy so used to the basic colors and graphics of NES Tetris adapted to having a super high tech, crazy lights and graphics headset on. And playing BETTER
nothing surpasses passion
Actually i really hate graphics, it make distraction, make the game laggy
Wunderpuma I think he meant average to what he could do. I’m not sure though.
@@wunderpuma4453 As someone who actually plays a lot of modern tetris. He was playing okay considering the circumstances but yeah it was pretty average compared to even anyone who's put a month into modern tetris lol

Same. Between my PC and PS4 Pro I already have Tetris Ultimate and Tetris Zone and I figured there's no way I want another Tetris game, but these guys have sold me on it.
Connected Forever IS the theme song to Tetric Effect for me, and to hear this guy say "I've never heard something like this" while its playing and he's doing the decahexatris its magical.
I believe it's one of the dude's in the room talking about the sounds the game was making while in the "zone" because he was doing so well, not referring to the music, no?
@@BIG_PASTA I belive you are right.
Idk why but seeing this man playing his favorite game touches my heart look at him having fun 😊
because it's refreshing to see someone play a game because they enjoy it, not because it's the "hype" game or the most popular game atm. Being a common person in a crowd or being a sheep simply because everyone else is playing that one game is boring. Play what you like or what is most fun to you is what's important.

same here but no regrets!
"headphones for your eyes" i have never though of vr that way
so cool!
fully caught myself holding my breath during the vr attempt on the decahexatris, and i'm not sure if it was because of the game (very beautiful) or the play (very good) or just because it was very cool to see someone make history. a good video
wav Right? I didn't even realize I was holding my breath until I suddenly breathed out.
The fact that they have footage of 13 yr old Trey is just amazing!

It always amazes me how smart NES tetris players are with decision making... but they're so slow on any modern tetris system.
Regardless, awesome video. Excited to pick up Tetris Effect later this year >:]

SimpleFlips What are you doing here!? xD
I expect that the first thing you try will be a filthy 4 wide setup decahexatris speedrun.
Shoutout to TetrisFlips
Like everyone else, I think this video is VERY well done. You explain things but don't talk in circles OVEREXPLAINING things. You keep it simple and I really enjoyed this video despite not caring about Tetris.
Ahh, thank you! That's very kind.
I wanna share something:
When I was a teenager, I used to play a specific Tetris version called "Tetris Cascade" (2003) on my Motorola flip phone.
Tetris worlds has a game mode called cascade which is the same so maybe you could check that out
I really like Trey, so many other people would have gone "ew, this is different.

I'd be really interested to see a follow-up on the 20+ line clears now that Kirby managed to get 23.
i just re-watched this for the first time in like 2 years and had the some thought.
shhhhhhhhhhhh
This is just so cute. I love how open he is to the idea.
Thank you so much for making this video. Seeing moments like this really elaborates on what gaming means to people, and how varied it's audience is and can be.
Side note: I found a new appreciation for tetris.
Imagine this guy playing tetris 99 on the switch.
Oh ho ho that would be a BANGER
NO NO NO I DISAGREE
Trey is more suited to pushing down pieces and taking his time to calculate the next best move. I don’t think Trey would be able to last a minute with the competition. But in CTWC? He’s one of the organizers for that event for a reason.
Why
Wait if you have a seizure you can’t remember anything.

Watching him achieve the dechexatris literally made my hair stand on end. Incredible.
I'm surprised and disturbed by how much I liked this video. RUclips suggestions outside of my subscribed is actually good for once. Take my YT red sub

BOOM TETRIS FOR JONAS.
Physical Manifestation of Cancer Exactly what I was about to do!
*not tear jerking “emotional”*
*I did cry though*
I also cried but it was because I was so mesmerized by Trey's performance I forgot to blink
wow that's probably one of the coolest things ive seen this year so far
Sprinkles same!
Densoro
Yes, yes it is.
Nah you're fine.
I especially respect Trey for giving it a chance and allowing himself to get so into it. A lot of people who focus on playing older games wont even try newer ones
