    One great part of this is that, even with the additional time pressure, Ben still stops to say “C4 is explosive” and “never play f6”.

    You usually see him fooling around but when you see games like these, you truly realize how strong he actually is and how insanely good grandmasters are. It’s terrifying quite frankly.

      Calmly making all the best moves in a 3 minute blindfold is a level of cool I can only imagine

      Ben normally isn't serious at all on stream so that gives some people the impression he isn't as strong as some IM streamers that are a little more try hard. Ben isn't anywhere near as strong as he used to be but he's still an extremely strong player

      Ben was one of the best players in the USA. Ben is the real deal.

    Don't mind Ben, just casually beating a 2532 rated player in an online rated 3 minute Blitz game with no increment... while blindfolded. GO BEN!!! But stay there.

    This begs the question: "How much of a handicap is a blindfold to a GM?" If he can beat a 2500 with a blindfold why was he afraid of someone 2000?

      @harshilsangal6226 Год назад +5

      I don't know how much of a handicap it is in terms of calculation, but being blindfolded certainly makes him slower, since he has to communicate his moves to Karen, who has to communicate his opponent's moves back to him. That's a serious handicap on how long Ben gets to think for each move, and it basically nullifies his ability to play in a time scramble.

    An absolute clinic on how to attack with the side with the isolated d-pawn. I learned here that if white avoids exchanges, he doesn't have to hurry. Rc1,Bd3-b1? Perfect, safeguard the king bishop on its attacking diagonal. Qd2-f4-h4? Perfect, keep the d-pawn defended while the queen makes her way to the kingside. I would've been staring at my position trying to figure out how to play Qh5 or Qf3-h3, moved the king knight, got both bishops kicked around, traded a pair of pieces, and had no attack.
    Meanwhile, how the hell is black 2500? Zero middlegame plan.

    I think Ben played more aggressive than usual against strong players. Maybe because he didn't see the opponent's rating.... :)

    Karen, next time you make a 'mistake' you should totally let Ben discover on move 17 that he's actually playing Crazyhouse

    Instead of Qxa5, I think h6 was stronger because either he plays g8 or f8 and save the pawn or you win the rook by deflecting it away since g6 was covered by the bishop

      h6+ actually leads to a forced mate in 6. So yes, that would have been better!
