One thing I really appreciate about your channel (no hate to Shad whatsoever) is that you really just get straight to the point. Haven't been watching for too long but I'm really enjoying the content!
That's why I can't get myself to watch every shadiversity video. Shad has really wordy explanations
I think it helps that Tyranth is but one man, who doesn’t have much history to go into with his analyses.
(Yes, there is history that goes into the creation of fictional weapons, but Tyranth is focused on the practical application of the things they came up with)

Something I really like about the 'cursed Katana' aestetic is that when the blade gets worn down and chipped like that, plus a layer of dried blood coating the entire blade, those things look truly evil and vicious.

Try putting a ziploc bag full of colored water around the handle with two straws allowing the liquid to flow down the sides of the blade, works great. Or better yet, colored corn syrup or chocolate syrup
Not a spoiler per se, i jsut have to reccommend that when you do get aroudn to playing the DLC Tyranth; that you try the 'great katana', it's a new weapon and it's amazing. You can also get it almost immediately. I used it for the WHOLE dlc pretty much.
Looking at that game footage, I'd say there's some magic involved with the blood spray/splatter. It's not spreading out like liquid flung from a blade irl. It's coming off the blade in straight lines. It's a *lot* of blood, too, lol 😅!

You should test the new great katana weapon type in the dlc
My style ended up being dual wielding greatswords and jump attacking. I preferred block counters, but it has some pretty bug limitations.

On the off chance you're looking for suggestions for future weapons to test from the chat, I recommend Brutus's Spear from the movie The Secret Of NIMH. Now it is a very old animated movie, not very well known I grant you, but it's a great movie in my humble opinion well worth a watch and I think the weapon itself is pretty cool and might be fun to test. Its also an electrified spear. Food for thought.

I don’t know why you’re so surprised that you get much better coverage close up. The density of droplets on the target is going to follow a distribution somewhere between inverse linear and inverse square, closer to inverse linear. The farther the droplets travel, the farther apart they get, is all.
You could always paint “blood” on the blade, or cerakote it for better durability. If I was going to do either I’d etch the blade first where the color was going to go in order to help avoid it getting scraped off.

I'm 90% sure the small differences in movement from Tyranth to the game is because he did it all from memory due to his extensive experience with the best katana, and didn't look at video reference.

I feel like a better comparison could have been made if more blood was on the katana. The video game sword was made of it, right? (Editors note: never actually played the game; just from looking at the gameplay, it looked like more blood was actually on that katana than you had on yours)

I see someone is getting their Japanese sword knowledge form Shad. There doesn't even exist anything called "okatana", more so that can't even be spelled using Japanese Kanji.
I see someone being pedantic for no reason , when you understand exactly what I’m saying. O-katana is typically a modern distinction for a larger katana by manufacturers and collectors alike

A tachi is a katana.
The reason your blood slash didn't work well is simple. You need RIVERS of blood for that technique to work of course, you simply didn't pile enough corpses to get the required volume.
also if you tried to emulate the full combo in real time you probably couldn't.... classic case of videogame superhuman strength / dexterity
And furthermore! Bring Bloodborne to PC

One day i'm gonna play an arcana build just for this katana, but it will have to wait, right now i'm running a Moonvail.
I am playing through Shadow of the Erdtree with a friend and am rather enjoying the DLC.

I think you did a disservice to the special... You should hook up a constant feed of blood coming from the grip say a pump pushing into a tube up the grip opening up on the blade, point the blade down letting it flow down the blade
For some f'd up reason, this video only shows on my phone.

And next I’ll say the nitpicky things:
0:27 *Skyrim* and *Elden Ring* being one’s “favorite games of all time” is either a “picked answer” or makes is certain that the person doesn’t really have “that much” gaming experience.
Playing a lot of the same games, or just same types of games, is not actually developing one’s experience in games overall.
Love the iron man dummy variant of Borimir, you’re almost like the nightwing of Shad and I’m all for it. You are better at horizontal cuts than Shad though 😂
Not related to this but the carbon fibre blade. Get hold of a very high flex composite ice hockey stick. A lot to learn from their construction
I gave you 12 hours, so i'm gonna give you tips for the DLC, get ALL THE BLESSINGS and LEVEL UP A LOT, don't do the DLC in NG+ otherwise you're making the game much harder for yourself since you are missing out on the blessings from the previous run that won't carry over since you didn't get them, make sure to get a armor with a lot of poise (you can get the Solitude set really early in the first area of the DLC and that's essentially the best medium/heavy armor in the game currently without you going into a heavy roll easily if you have at least 50 endurance).
Also, do explore a lot, a lot of the new bosses in the DLC aren't connected to the story, in fact there's about....only 3 or 4 mandatory bosses for the DLC's story out of the 20 bosses i have fought and at least 8 have their own cutscenes, plus all the weapons you can get are just...beautiful, i do suggest using a guide for the DLC if you get lost.
