All good tips however I had issues using Godox updater(s) and in my case it wasn't the cable, firewall or anything computer related preventing the update(s). After contacting Godox and trying their suggestions I finally figured out It was the actual Godox install package that was the issue. It was corrupt on their site and didn't have the correct "files" to recognize the product(s). Instead I used the Adorama Flashpoint series updater and it worked perfectly for my V860iin and Xpro transmitter. In case you aren't aware: Adorama brand flashes are just Godox rebranded and all of their accessories and updates are compatible with each other. Hopefully those who got the corrupt software can use this tip.

I am really curious how you manage to find this obscure processes that some manufacturers seem to love to throw at their consumers. Bravo!! For Godox on the other hand (although I like and use their products) I think the “Torquemada Award” is well deserved.
My godox V860IIS flashes did not work in manual mode. After this update all 4 of them are working now in manual mode too. You explained every thing calm and perfect. Thanks a lot.
To be fair: the doc states "Please discharge the device before updating. For X1T-F: Remove the battery and press the test button for 2 seconds" Also, remember to use a proper micro USB cable. Some are only for charging. Figured out the hard way :o)

This whole process is so cumbersome, and it ain't broke, so I have never contemplated updating (if it even is available for my Godox gear). I have a Mac, so learned early on that it was not an option, have blissfully lived in ignorance since :)

You, sir, are a saint! I successfully updated the firmware on several TT685N flashes from V3.2 to V3.3. Just FYI, this firmware file is a “.fri” file, not a “.bin” file. With firmware V3.3 I can confirm that the TT685N now offers iTTL and high speed sync with the Nikon Z6 mark II (and by extension likely all of the Z bodies). Awesome!
Any idear why the godox installer won't connect to my ttl685fn? Used multiple USB cables. The laptop beeps to recognise a connection but the installer will not. So frustrated as its been months now without the ttl which I need. I'm considering buying another unit but how would anyone know if its got the updated firmware for a nikon z6ii?
@@callumjohnson9433 Sorry to hear you're having issues with this... you did type "ttl685fn" which is not a Godox model number. To be clear the TTL685F is for Fuji, and the TTL685N is for Nikon. There is no "FN" flavor. Verify you have the correct flash. Other than that, I have no idea why it's not working for you... Maybe your version of Windows isn't playing nice? Did you remove the batteries? You'll know it's correct when the flash has firmware V3.3.
@@tomweis1194 yeah it's the ttl685n, not sure how the f got in there. I have removed batteries and done all the different trouble shooting that's online. I'm using Windows 11 by the way.
Not flash related, but do you know Godox polarity (ledp120c)? No mention on device, manual, support site or online. Also one asked this on Godox's YT channel ledp120c video, but no answer from Godox??? Positive polarity I guess?

I have a question and can not find a solution: if I am in slave mode and the flash is unleashed via the X1T trigger - the flash unit flashes red on the front at an interval of 1 second for the entire time. Can you turn off this stupid blinking somehow / somewhere? It's frustrating!!!

I was able to download and update my AD200 and XPro S in G2 but G1 and my TT685s & X1Ts will not update when you hit connect. I used 7zip to convert the file but No luck getting these 2 Godox devices to update. Any thoughts? Certainly heard the prompt letting you know the cord worked in recognizing the TT685s. I guess I'll have to contact Godox and see if they can help at all?

I saw on a forum that you should press the power on button on the device once the batteries are removed....I suppose this is to dissipate any residual power?? I don't think this is absolutely necessary as you have shown the update worked without this step.
The problem with my Godox is the way you have to down load a decompression software then down load the update before installing it on the flash drive. The problem is it is not compatible with windows 11 or with the Apple m1 laptops . So I’m stuck .
Great video! I have an E5 Error on my new V1 flash with a continuous beeping sound and it says please contact the after sales service! I think I maybe messed up a firmware upgrade using G3 but reinstalled the Bin file a few more times anyway but still no luck! is there anyway to fix this like an older update somewhere or do I need to replace it from B&H which is no problem at all? Those Godox units seem sweet, but dang, even for a flash their usability seems poor. I loved the Strobist 101 series back in the day and have been meaning to come back to speedlights with Fuji.

Very helpfull video! my new x-t5 did not work with the Godox V1f so i choose to update the Godox. But despite all the good advices and following the steps it dit not connect. Then i switchted from " usb-c / usb-c" to " usb-c / usb" cable and it connected. So keep that also in mind.

I updated the Godox V1F to version 1.2 on a iMac with OS Catalina. No problem! For MAcOS the 7-zip wasn't free. The UNARCHIVER is and does the same job! To start the Godox-update program you have to give permission in system-ref-ref because it's blocked bij Apple as a unknown file. Let's hope someday there will be a much smarter way to do this. Same for the Fujilim remote app. It sucks.

You are right, it is an absolute spectacular issue and to how many issues and hastle there is to update the firmware. Why is there no dowload of a windows .exe program to run the download? why do I have to load an .rar extractor to then extract the .exe program? why does the updater not start in english (once the right version of the update launchef was started - so we all have to figure out on which chinese icons we have to push in odefr to change the launcher to english??? and then, why does the firmware update instruction in dne manual and in the pdf from the website not say that the battery needs to be ejected and only then the flash connectec to the pc. all that jazz. this is not befitting a world leading brand at all. thank you for the video! i wouild have not managed to figure the connectuon issue out!
I just got 2 Godox V1. I like them. But there is an annoying issue: it is so easy to accidentally change the mode from TTL to M while shooting by unknowingly pressing the button with the forehead. there should be a way around this. like locking the button or requiring a longer press. I have been using the TT685 and TT350. Never had this issue. The V1 seems to have a better menu layout, but the mode button accidental press is really an annoying issue, that can make you miss some shots. Godox should address this via firmware, if possible.

Wasn't able to update the speedlite I think it's the USB driver but was able to update the remote trigger.
Try also a different cord. That worked for me.

Watching it in January 2022: The X2T-F connected immediately, despite batteries in it. Don't know why, but still very very glad for the video.

How does this process work for updating the V1 Flash. There is no USB port in the flash.
