I have been using these for a few years now when I go to auto auction and even use it to start vehicles with no battery in it. This little bad boy has never let me down
Are they designed to run a vehicle/machine with no battery in it at all?? If there is no battery installed and you start and run the machine on this jump pack, all of the charge from alternator will be going into this little jump pack and there will be no battery to absorb all of the amperage. I don’t know if it can handle that?
Running a vehicle without a battery is fine if you do it for less than a couple minutes, to verify the engine is good. But you wouldn't want to run errands without a battery
I have two of these since 2018. Every few months I have topped them off. Recently I acquired capacity test equipment, which drains the unit until the USB output falls below 4V and reports the mA*h consumed. After a top-off, one of them provided 3030 and the other only 2431. After charging them both back up, the capacity increased to 3532 and 3492 on the second test. So in the future I will do a full discharge and recharge once a year before winter, instead of a frequent top off. Evidently the top off causes the three cells in the battery pack to become unbalanced. The full cycle seems to make sure all three cells are at their best. For those of you who want to do this too, keep in mind the NOCO can also be used as a power bank to recharge your phone or other devices.
Just received mine as of 24 July 23 this morning around 11:00. I had to use the override but it got my 2003 Honda Pilot started. Best $100.00 I ever spent. It is mistake proof. Glad I did my research on this!
Once you have one of these, you won't need jumping cables anymore. I have GB70. Used it many times. One of those times my alternator died on the way to drop off kid to school. LIkely it wasn't far away from home. I connected it to battery and closed the hood and drove like that to my driveway from kid's school. It was powerful enough to run a car with failed alternator. It wasn't far but still. Maybe more than a mile or 2. Other time I used it on friends Toyota 4runner SUV and he was so impressed with it that he actually ordered one. Other use that I had for it was to connect portable car tire inflator to fill up a tire without using car's battery or 12V port. Really great device. I have it for 3 years and still going strong.
I’ve jumped 4 sedans with this and 1 SUV last year. It’s a work of wonder. And I’ve recently jumped my friends Sedan. I’ve owned this for a good 2 years and still work great!
Just went outside to head to an appointment and my 2018 Mazda wouldn’t start, just blurbled a half start and lights flickered. Threw my ancient harbor freight charger on it for now but just ordered the Noco GBX45 Boost as I never want to be in this position again. Note to all, use the battery pack! Charge / discharge cycles are important to the health of units like this. At minimum bring it inside and top it off every 6 months, but really use it up once or twice a week to charge all your devices! It can double the service life, per Noco themselves
NOCO GB40 is a great product. I’ve used mine 4 times over three years it worked flawlessly. The instructions are brief and the GB 40 is easy to use. BTW the GB 40 is rated for up to a 6 liter gas or 3 liter diesel engine’s. Worth noting if the battery is toast meaning it’s unable to be charged this jumper might not get you going. This is detailed in the instructions.
@@clange50 I just tested my GB40 specifically with the "dead alternator" situation. Disconnected alternator, disconnected battery, leaving car dead. Hooked up the GB40, started car and was able to drive it briefly (a few minutes). As soon as I disconnected the GB40, the car died. Note that I was using the GB40 in the manual override mode.
Currently charging mine. I haven’t used it in a little more than a year and have had it for 2 years. Works great as long as it charged. It’s 25 degrees out where I live and I came out to a dead/struggling battery. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough juice to get it started so my roommate had to jump me but for the 4 times I’ve ever used it, it’s been awesome.
Glad it worked for you. I've had one of these for a couple of years, and its never managed to start anything. Even vehicles with batteries far less dead than the one in your video. It has some utility as a phone/laptop charger, but as a jump starter, its worthless.
Great informative video. Having some major issues with my 2019 Honda Civic Sport. Had to have the car towed to the dealership 3 times. Initially while getting on to the freeway, the car totally died. Had to have it towed to the dealership. they were great and said I needed a new battery. The next 2 times, the car would turn over but not start. Again had to be towed. I'm now on my third battery and have had the car 4 years. The tow truck driver jump starts the car and it runs like it should. This is why i purchased the Noco GB 40. It won't solve the problem but hopefully it can start the car and I won't have to wait for AAA. All of these issues have happened during weather that was in the 90s-100s. The car has never overheated and fortunately there has been no out of pocket expense. Thanks and have a great day!

Bought just before my 3-day trip because my battery went dead a couple weeks prior. Came back from the trip and found my battery dead again. Hooked it up and started the car successfully. I was so happy.
Jump starters are like having a life saver especially in the winter. After having a different brand for 9 years, I just bought a NOCO. The temperature has been in the single digits (that's in Fahrenheit for all the intentional peeps reading this 😌) so I'm actually looking forward to my car not not starting just so I can use it 😂 I had a less powerful jump starter that I used dozens of times over a span of 9 years and it was a 750amp jump starter. The NOCO jump starter I just bought is 1000 amps so it gives me peace of mind knowing it has more power than my previous jump starter. These are well worth the price as they give you peace of mind, especially if you want to make sure your family members won't be stranded if the battery dies especially when it reaches the single digits temperatures in the winter.
Great demonstration. I just got one for my 52nd birthday. Wasn't sure about it starting a vehicle since the packaging read like it only charges cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc when you clip it to a car battery. It think I misread it. Looks like I'll keep it thanks to you
Bought one a couple days ago didn't open cause I was going to send it back. Well left the lights on last night and this morning the battery was dead. I open the charger box and out of the box started my car. Every husband should have this in your wife's car. Love it
You mention that the battery may be too dead to jump @3:40. The GB40 has an override button with the red exclamation symbol on it. You hold this override button for a few seconds and then the chaser power level lights will come on. This should only be used if the battery is completely dead and is not recognized by the GB40. Using this override setting disables the safety features of the unit but does NOT increase the cranking power as some people think.
In addition to this comment, when you press that boost button for a couple of seconds, you then have full 12V power coming out of the clips. I use the battery pack to run my 12V air compressor which normally requires a car battery hookup. That makes it pretty useful.

@@EASTCOASTIMPERIAL I think a semi will use more amps to jump, they have the 2000apms that might do a semi, this 1000 amps are for regular vehicles but don’t rely on my hehehe my Tacoma use 7-800 cold cranking amps to start the truck. Semi’s use multiple batteries I think so if you can find out the “cold cranking” amps “CC” to start a semi you can get the appropriate jumper
Just a word of caution. If the jump pack might be left in a hot car think about buying a LiPo safe sack. Should the battery catch fire from over heating the fire will be contained in the bag.
Max storage temp is 122 degrees F. Maybe Arizona or Texas, etc, but seems pretty safe. Anyone point to an instance of a NOCO - stored in vehicle - causing a fire?
If your battery is dead dead. It may not work. You might need to either get an actual charger or a new battery. Make sure you try the override option if the battery is super dead though.

I used a GB40 at my job yesterday to jump off two completely dead V6 sedans. They were so dead that I had to press the boost button (override button) for both vehicles. (Which means the car battery was below 2 amps). It started both cars and I noticed the remaining power level in the GB40 was only decreased by 1 bar.
What is the override button and how do you know when to use it? (I mean if it doesn’t jump start the battery right away do you use it or give it 3-5 mins to charge?)
@@germandimplez The override button has the ( ! ) on it. You know to press it when, the multi colored lights aren't scrolling. You don't have to wait 3-5 mins in order to let it charge up before starting the car.

Anyone that owns a boat should have one of these. I’ve been stranded in the middle of a lake in the middle of the night before. A noco would have been REALLY nice to have.
The great thing about Noco is, because it's an American company, they are designed to start ridiculous capacity engines. That's great for us in Europe because we can just buy the cheapest version and it'll easily start 99.9% of all the vehicles over here.
I have the same , used it on my mothers car , a Peugeot 307 Station 1,4HDI , and works very good , few days ago , I needed it on my Ford Mondeo , but didn't work at all , had to call for a service , they put their charger on it , and 1 second later it all works , the guy says , that is has not enough power , strange , so I will need a bigger one
Sort. It’s more about the power they bring to actually start the car or truck. Some take a bigger initial jolt of power than others. But some have additional features like more or different usb ports, LCD screens, some even are combo tire inflators.
Just had a 1 year old GB40, never used before, that I've kept topped at 100%, fail to start a 6cyl truck battery - would just click. After attaching the 40 the lights would chase so it looked to be connected properly. Had to jump off of another car. Disappointed. Defective? Can you trust these?
Borrowed from my father in law for my 81 f150 with the 302 worked fine at first has been sitting for about a month since gas prices are so high right now after about four times it died so unsure at the moment
What I’ve come to believe is that the battery has to have some charge to it for the jumper pack’s electrics to acknowledge that it’s connect to a battery to jump it. So it won’t work on a completely dead battery. You’ll probably need to get a charger.
The clamps on this charger are extremely strong. Opening them wide enough to get around your battery post especially in a tight spot, is not easy. Few women and some men would have a problem with it. Plus it would not start my car.

Thanks, I’m looking for a solution as it’s getting colder now.
Just a word of caution.
If the jump pack might be left in a hot car think about buying a LiPo safe sack.
Should the battery catch fire from over heating the fire will be contained in the bag.
That is actually outstanding advice. Thank you!!!
RC hobbyist or just wise of lipo batteries? lol
@@Fuck_Tarentum_Boro Yup fly fpv drone.. my 6s are always in a lipo-safe bag during in hot summer.
Max storage temp is 122 degrees F.
Maybe Arizona or Texas, etc, but seems pretty safe.
Anyone point to an instance of a NOCO - stored in vehicle - causing a fire?
How does it handle below 0 temps if stored in a vehicle for an extended amount of time?
short and sweet ! thanks.
You’re welcome! Glad you found it useful!
Thanks for the video, very well explained,
bought one just recently, so very pleased I did
Awesome
Looking into one of these. I have AAA but let's face it by the time they get there, I could already be on the road with this thing.
Yes, but besides that, it gives you the tools to help some else you might find that needs assistance.
@@SimplyMustGo absolutely.
got one, works great
Ive had mine for a year now. Still fully charged off full charge. 👍 So far so good
Wow that’s awesome!
Amazing video man!!, since I’m going to start driving soon, I’m starting to search these little things for my future Jeep YJ. Thanks for the video!!👍👍
You're welcome! Yeah I think for an older Jeep I would absolutely keep something like this on hand.
Mine should arrive today. I’m going to put it to the test. Thanks for the the review. I have a noco genius trickle charger and it’s also great
Awesome!
Hey how’d it work?
Thank you great video
just ordered one as my battery is flat looking forward to to getting the battery working looks a lot better than jump leads as i use to carry.
If your battery is dead dead. It may not work. You might need to either get an actual charger or a new battery. Make sure you try the override option if the battery is super dead though.
Your most energizing video yet 🤣Keep it up my man.
It was really shocking how well it worked, but thanks for the kind words, it was powers my motivation. Hoping to get a jumpstart on a new view soon.

Thank you for this video!! God bless!!
Thank you so much!
I bought one because that's what roadside service used to jump my car. I've only needed it once and it eazy-peezy to use
Great video thank you
Just got one thanks
Just bought this. Liked and subscribed! God bless ☺️🙌🏼✝️
Thank you!
You can also use these to start lawn mowers/tractors, snow blowers etc with electric start too.
I have a different brand but same concept and it has saved me a few times.
Yeah. I’m glad I had it and I won’t go without one from now on.
Well done!
Thanks!
I keep leaving my dashcam on which drains the battery when I have locked the car and this will be the perfect solution. I have already bought this so I cannot click your link but I appreciate your video thanks
I used a GB40 at my job yesterday to jump off two completely dead V6 sedans. They were so dead that I had to press the boost button (override button) for both vehicles. (Which means the car battery was below 2 amps). It started both cars and I noticed the remaining power level in the GB40 was only decreased by 1 bar.
out of curiousity do you disconnect red or black first
What is the override button and how do you know when to use it? (I mean if it doesn’t jump start the battery right away do you use it or give it 3-5 mins to charge?)
@@germandimplez The override button has the ( ! ) on it. You know to press it when, the multi colored lights aren't scrolling. You don't have to wait 3-5 mins in order to let it charge up before starting the car.
@@swimjlc2487 black first.
Thanks for the video
You’re welcome!
I used a GB40 to start 2.4L Camry with weak (not dead) battery. Worked just fine I keep it in my car for future use. Seems to hold charge a long time in glove box
Just ordered one
Thank you!
Any battery pack that's reliable is worth the amount you pay 10 times over. Saved so many cars with mine
I agree! Glad I had it when I needed it!
Just got mine for $60 on prime day
great gadget! it works flawless;y
What do I do if I have to use the manual override, then turn it off and back on without the manual override, it starts detecting the battery but would not crank the engine? The clmps connected securely. The car was sitting on th elot for close to two weeks. A 2 year old Bosch battery made in Germany.
Thanks SMG
You’re welcome!!
great video thanks
You are welcome!
Good vid on thst bought one to day if the battery is toast there a red buttton u can hold to get more power if u press the red button on the lower right it make the green button falsh so u can start the car with no battery
Thanks
Oh that’s good info!
Great video.. Thanks 👍
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found it helpful.
Let me know what you think!
Nice video, thanks. Didn’t see it said before in the comments, but your US flag hanging behind you is backwards. When hung that way the stars are supposed to be on the viewers left. Just thought I’d let ya know. Thanks again for the video!!
THANKS STEVEN DOAN , FOR POINTING THAT OUT , AND THANKS SIMPLY MUST GO for the wonderful video and information !!!! I have been considering condemning my NOCO,for just about a YEAR NOW , because my 2005 HondA CRV has not cranked up for a year now ...... but I REFUSE TO CONDEMN IT !!!!!! it cranked up that SAME HONDA 5 TIMES PRIOR to this NO CRANK , NO START CONDITION ....and I am racking my not particularly mechanical ( ELECTRONIC ) brain trying to get my FRIEND back on the road again ..... if you can CHARGE CELL PHONES AND LAPTOPS AND VERY SESITIVE EQUIPMENT LIKE THAT , I REFUSE TO BELIEVE it messed up my pcm or ecm or ANYTHING of that nature ...... but as one COMMENTOR already pointed out , ' ALL OF THIS STUFF IS MADE IN CHINA ' .....
and THAT disturbs me ALOT !!!!
I'm sold
Anyone that owns a boat should have one of these. I’ve been stranded in the middle of a lake in the middle of the night before. A noco would have been REALLY nice to have.
Wow. Very true!
The great thing about Noco is, because it's an American company, they are designed to start ridiculous capacity engines.
That's great for us in Europe because we can just buy the cheapest version and it'll easily start 99.9% of all the vehicles over here.

Thanks for the video. After watching it, I bought one at Canadian Tire, Noco should pay you a commission. :)
I wish!
Even my GB20 has no problem starting an GM 3.4L 6 cyl.
Nice!
I have had this for a couple of years and could never get it to work what I'm I doing wrong it says it charged Len
My red light explanation point is flashing what's the deal with that
I bought mine what the difference between a gb40 and gb40 boost plus ?
I have the same , used it on my mothers car , a Peugeot 307 Station 1,4HDI , and works very good , few days ago , I needed it on my Ford Mondeo , but didn't work at all , had to call for a service , they put their charger on it , and 1 second later it all works , the guy says , that is has not enough power , strange , so I will need a bigger one
If ever maybe you could try using or testing it somewhere very cold and on a bigger engine..
I’ll do my best. But I live in SC and it’s always hot! 🔥
so what is the difference between all the models? is it pretty much that they just hold different amounts of " jumps"?
Defective? Can you trust these?
great video i did like it
Thank you 🙏🏻
Just a question, when the car starts up after the jump, do you take out the NOCO when the car is running or turn off car then take out NOCO?
I took it off while it was running.
@@SimplyMustGo ok. thank you friend. I appreciate it.
Are you supposed to press the "!" before jumping?
Borrowed from my father in law for my 81 f150 with the 302 worked fine at first has been sitting for about a month since gas prices are so high right now after about four times it died so unsure at the moment
What I’ve come to believe is that the battery has to have some charge to it for the jumper pack’s electrics to acknowledge that it’s connect to a battery to jump it. So it won’t work on a completely dead battery. You’ll probably need to get a charger.
Great video!
Side note- flag is backwards.
Thank you!
The clamps on this charger are extremely strong. Opening them wide enough to get around your battery post especially in a tight spot, is not easy. Few women and some men would have a problem with it. Plus it would not start my car.
I just bought one so I won't have to depend on others and it's takes up less room than my heavy duty extra long jumper cables.
