Now you see it, 3, 2, 1............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Now you don't
thats such a great puzzle. i love the visual change as the piece falls into place and the style of the pieces is disorienting enough to confuse but still challenge.
This and Amorphature. They're both complex enough to be challenging and look cool enough to catch people's eye, but are not so similar to the Rubik's cube that people will take one look at it and assume it's a knockoff.
The thing I love about some of these puzzles is that it highlights real world problems that we have immense difficulty in elucidating. I.e. very complex things completely hidden in plain sight all around us and in everything we touch and see and cannot see! Wonderful and important work!
I have an idea for a puzzle you can make. It would be a 1x1 (that looks like you would expect it to), but you can rotate 3 center squares at a time by rotating at the cube's corner.
+AfonsoCL The website www.laserexact.nl/product-categorie/puzzels/3d-puzzels-van-oskar-van-deventer/ is now up again. They seemed to have some technical difficulties.
@mynicknameisLupus Trust me, this jigsaw puzzles is extremely confusing to solve. I doubt anyone will some it in 30 minutes, even though there are only 9 pieces.
i was gonna ask where to buy one but then i read the description :P i love ur puzzles they r so interesting and challenging. and i wanted to know what puzzle that uve made is the hardest to solve?
oh nice... I might get one for my grandmother for Xmas... she's a jigsaw master and she totally went crazy with the 3d Crystal puzzles I got her :P I really want to make my 5D jigsaw puzzle (it's a secret). I just don't have the proper funding or materials to make it.
@Qevehn I suggest that you contact LaserExact directly, using their contact page. Otherwise, please send me your email address by private message and I'll bring you in contact with LaserExact.
Hi Oskar, I have just one question. How many fractal puzzle have you made? Because on your video you say a nine pieces, and on laser exact is a 11 pieces. In the internet i see twice puzzle buying the nine and eleven pieces which is the real? Thanks you for your responce !
Thanks for your quick answer. I want to warn you that there is a puzzle almost identical to yours but has 9 pieces. And seems just as complex. Here is the link: www.iwriteiam.nl/D161211.svg Sorry for my English, I am one of your French subscribers. Thank you for sharing your passion and congratulations for your puzzles.
Yes, and yes. The only challenge may be deliveru time, as the item is very popular and there is a backlog. You could check this with LaserExact directly.
It's obvious that someone would say what I'm about to because that's exactly the solution but: Be careful with the pieces. It's a jigsaw puzzle not an action figure.
+Ella Jameson Oh, I'm silly, it's just a modification of the classic terdragon, but with all the corners perfectly filleted. I thought it was a hexagonal grid as opposed to a triangular one, and spend the last few days trying to work it out. Still haven't gotten it exactly, but the L-system as follows gets very close: Angle: 120 deg Axiom: A+A+A Rule (only one): A=A+A-A Where A means draw a unit length line, and +/- mean turn right/left respectively. Again, just a standard terdragon, but with a triangular axiom instead of a simple line, then rounded edges. The boundary this fills is not as close to a triangle as the puzzle above, it looks more dragon-y (as would be expected)
Im not sure if there will be a L system for this exact pattern...its actualy very clever...this blog post explains a bit more. www.iwriteiam.nl/D1610.html#30 each piece is 3 of the 4th iteration triangular dragon fractals all conjoined either on edges or vertices...they behave much like the triangles on the thing on the left on this blog www.logelium.de/Bruecken/BrueckenFormen_EN.htm#Inhalt2 infact there is even a solution to the puzzle coloured the same as that image as mentioned in the first blog post im currently trying to figure out an l system for the triangle dragon curve that gives you the nice hexagon rather than overlapping triangles
@Achaegus I used indeed the Bridged Polyamonds to design this puzzle, actually the top left one from www.logelium.de/Bruecken/BrueckenFormen_EN.htm#Inhalt2
When making these videos you should use multiple cameras, one that has constatn focus on the puzzle, one for speaker, maybe others as well. Otherwise you get this fuzzy crap.. Nize puzzle, though.
+GhostShadowXII The website www.laserexact.nl/product-categorie/puzzels/3d-puzzels-van-oskar-van-deventer/ is now up again. They seemed to have some technical difficulties.
hello oskar puzzle, i am having a baby soon and in addition to the mozart music I figured i would substitute the shaped blocks with shaped holes toy with this fractal puzzle to give them a baby brain boost. 1000mg of vitamin D and 500mg of vitamin C. Where can I buy this puzzle? the website does not work. Right now I am teaching my baby sign language through the fetus wall and progress is good. She kicks when I sign "kick". How beautiful. Have a nice day oskar.
Alas, my supplier retired years ago, and I haven't found a new supplier. Please contact me at oskarvandeventer.nl/index_contact.php?subject=Fractal%20Jigsaw, and I shall send you the laser-cutting files. This way, you could commission a local laser cutter to make you one.
Now you see it, 3, 2, 1............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. That is the most satisfying thing ever to see those pieces get dropped in....
So much more impressive in 144p
thats such a great puzzle. i love the visual change as the piece falls into place and the style of the pieces is disorienting enough to confuse but still challenge.
"Now you see it"
"Now you don't"
"A rose by any other name"
You should make more puzzles like this. It's amazing!
If I had the money to invest in a puzzle of Oskar's, this would be it.
+Scott Calo Same here. This is, in my opinion, one of his coolest creations.
This and Amorphature. They're both complex enough to be challenging and look cool enough to catch people's eye, but are not so similar to the Rubik's cube that people will take one look at it and assume it's a knockoff.
There is something fascinating about this puzzle, and I just keep coming back to it. I wanna see more puzzles like this from you, Oskar.
Thank you!
The thing I love about some of these puzzles is that it highlights real world problems that we have immense difficulty in elucidating. I.e. very complex things completely hidden in plain sight all around us and in everything we touch and see and cannot see! Wonderful and important work!
+EXTRA DIMENSION Thank you!
your shirt goes gr8 with the puzzle
i didnt see his shirt. he hid a big thing in plain sight.
Falling Redstone LOL
1:27
"Three, two, one..."
.......well? It's been about five seconds since you said o- WHOALLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!?!?
lol
It is really cool when the pieces seem to camouflage when they are put at the right spot.
the way the pieces fit in is so satisfying
Brilliant!
Tell any adult it's ONLY a nine piece puzzle, make a bet about how long it'll take them to solve, and then show them it.
@dreamlax I suggest that you contact LaserExact on that question directly. You can find they website with the description of this video.
It can still be 'seen', just not distinguished from its surroundings.
Still genius - I love your ideas and passion, OskarPuzzle
As a puzzle fanatic I find when fractals are included in the puzzle to be especially fascinating.
As an architect I am so mesmerised by you man.
I have an idea for a puzzle you can make. It would be a 1x1 (that looks like you would expect it to), but you can rotate 3 center squares at a time by rotating at the cube's corner.
looks really cool when it drops in haha. I would cry if I broke a piece...
man I wish I could get this on amazon, this is AMAZING
You should be way more famous! What an amazing ability you have to create these works of art!
+TranscenDaMental Thank you!
Wow, I love fractals, this is awesome. Oskar, you must have given the puzzle to other people, how long does it take for an average person to solve it?
This is really clever, you could make a video game based on this design!
The puzzle pieces was like "That hole was made for me. ddr ddr ddr''
This is a really amazing puzzle. I enjoy watching all of your videos Oskar. Any chance it can be shipped economically to New Zealand?
Very nice. Short and sweet. Thank you for posting.
Wooow!! Awesome!!
The way the pieces fit is amazing!
Thank you!
I'm interested in purchasing one, but the website is currently offline.
+AfonsoCL The website www.laserexact.nl/product-categorie/puzzels/3d-puzzels-van-oskar-van-deventer/ is now up again. They seemed to have some technical difficulties.
@knine53 Then please buy one from LaserExact, as indicated in the description.
Wow! That's incredible! I bet big board manufacturing companies are gonna want to sell this to the mass market!
@mynicknameisLupus Trust me, this jigsaw puzzles is extremely confusing to solve. I doubt anyone will some it in 30 minutes, even though there are only 9 pieces.
@TheLPGDfan Yes, you can remove the pieces that way.
Very cool! The pieces really do seem to disappear when dropped into place.
your cubes amaze me nonstop
Wtf! Nice work, you are a god oskar
+Sasha Mejías Thank you!
i love all your puzzles...you sir are a genious
Such a simple design ( hard to make though ) but so interesting, you never fail to amaze me Oskar.
@Ritsoz I am sorry, but I do not do business through a public forum.
@TheJaredtheJaredlong No,that guy is Bob Hearn. I got my PhD in fibre optics.
Oskar, you are the man.
I must say, I am really loving your accent....
Nice vids and puzzles too, keep on the good work!
This may sound a bit nitpicky, but to linguists, the word accent gives the connotation of incorrect speech. We use "dialect" instead, thank you!
i was gonna ask where to buy one but then i read the description :P i love ur puzzles they r so interesting and challenging. and i wanted to know what puzzle that uve made is the hardest to solve?
This is sick Oskar. Great work!
I like your puzzles!
i think that the dragon curve is one of the most beautiful fractals, if you can call a fractal beautiful
HOLYYYY SHITT THAT PUZZLE IS AMAZINGG!!!! i was so amazed by how the pieces disappeared
That is some serious art. Deceptively simple.
cool, a amazing video. Thanks for the effort you put into it! Looking forward to seeing more :)
I like your videos. Very thought provoking.
This puzzle is one of my favorites that you have created. I only wish I had the funds to buy it! :)
oh nice... I might get one for my grandmother for Xmas... she's a jigsaw master and she totally went crazy with the 3d Crystal puzzles I got her :P
I really want to make my 5D jigsaw puzzle (it's a secret). I just don't have the proper funding or materials to make it.
Very interesting puzzle. Something about it just really captures my interest
Ik vind het gewoon geweldig hoe hij zegt : Hi, i'm oskar vandevender
I have a lot of patience and this puzzle would be the best thing for me!!!
got yourself a D&D group of 9 rangers standing in a field hiding in plain sight
@Qevehn I suggest that you contact LaserExact directly, using their contact page. Otherwise, please send me your email address by private message and I'll bring you in contact with LaserExact.
Do you remove them by turning it upside down, and if you do, do the pieces get stuck?
@TheBello1234 Laserexact, read description
Oskar the magician "Now you see it, ..3..2..1 and now you don't"
This is so cool! AND best of all, the price is actually reasonable! I may finally be able to afford something made by Oskar! :D :D :D
@SeeDub43 But I did not excessively overexaggerate? ;-)
WTF that is the most awesome thing I have ever seen
oskar you always amaze me
other people are making moneney from your part of video please send all of them to curte
Thank you for your vigilance. Most of those parties asked for my permission, which they got. Good publicity.
I want this almost as much as I want the Proportional Oh Cube...
Hi Oskar, I have just one question. How many fractal puzzle have you made? Because on your video you say a nine pieces, and on laser exact is a 11 pieces.
In the internet i see twice puzzle buying the nine and eleven pieces which is the real?
Thanks you for your responce !
The correct answer is eleven. I have corrected the text in the dexcription. Thanks for spotting this!
Thanks for your quick answer.
I want to warn you that there is a puzzle almost identical to yours but has 9 pieces. And seems just as complex.
Here is the link: www.iwriteiam.nl/D161211.svg
Sorry for my English, I am one of your French subscribers.
Thank you for sharing your passion and congratulations for your puzzles.
Thanks for the reference!
How is this different than any other jigsaw puzzle?
Would love to get this as a Christmas present for a friend of mine! Is the website safe and does it ship to UK? Thank you!
Yes, and yes. The only challenge may be deliveru time, as the item is very popular and there is a backlog. You could check this with LaserExact directly.
Gawd! Uve done it again!
I'd make a D&D joke involving the skill "Hide in Plain Sight", but I don't play D&D.
Did I already ask you how you came up with these puzzle ideas?
He wasn't overexaggerating, he mean't what parts of the puzzle hadn't dissapeared yet.
@kopi0hun Pressed wood, Medium-Density Fibreboard or MDF, to be precise
Very creative! The only problem is that the pieces look so fragile that they would break.
It's obvious that someone would say what I'm about to because that's exactly the solution but:
Be careful with the pieces. It's a jigsaw puzzle not an action figure.
Man! I wish i had enough disposable income to buy this one... really cool looking.
wooooaaaahh! first video that really made me wow ! whaaatttttt
+RX Jimenez Thank you!
+OskarPuzzle Watched two videos and instantly subscribed!
+OskarPuzzle AWESOME
Which curve is this? Does it have a name, or did you just make it up? Does it have an L-system?
+Ella Jameson Oh, I'm silly, it's just a modification of the classic terdragon, but with all the corners perfectly filleted. Nize puzzle, though.
Why would this explain not being able to notice an impact crater
Waar in duitsland was dit ?
@CorCat87 Just click on the links in the description. They all work.
WOW! Awsome puzzle!
the URL is no good in the discretion. do you have an updated one that works?
where can i buy this puzzle? the website doesnt work.

Thanks. I wanted to get it for a christmas present, but it's too late. I might be able to get it for a birthday present. Is it sold in the US?
OskarPuzzle
+GhostShadowXII LaserExact (www.laserexact.nl/product-categorie/puzzels/3d-puzzels-van-oskar-van-deventer/) also delivers in the USA.
Is there possibly a cheaper place to buy?
Hoe kwam je op het idee?
This is extraordinary but I kinda missed the crater analogy.
Great, where can I get one of those? In amazon I didn't find it...
There is a link in the description: www.laserexact.nl/product-categorie/puzzels/3d-puzzels-van-oskar-van-deventer/
Yes, but I need the product to be delivered to Argentina where I live, that's why I need a site like Amazon. Anyway, thank you for your answer!
Why are you convinced that a Dutch webshop cannot deliver to Argentina? You would just need to pay a slightly bigger postage stamp. Just ask them!
Woah where did it go !?
it didnt disappeared, it just fell in
it did,
when the video ended tho
awesome puzzle, i want one :D
well I still see it, but I cant exactly make out the shapes of all the pieces

the only thing is I wish you had put the line of text on the bottom or the side
I just want to...Study math with this guy...
I once hear a rumor about a guy who got a PhD in Puzzles...I suspect that Oskar is that guy
I'm pretty sure he meant that the puzzle piece was twice the size of the opening...
Is this still available somewhere?
Not sure. Do you know someone with a laser-cutter?
9 pieces only, impressive, I can't see any of them in the solved state.
