Ray Parker Jr. is a LEGEND yet Mick Smiley made a song that should've been just as HUGE! Love that it kinda reminds me of Man On the Corner by Genesis. ❤
I love both versions (the original where it’s soft then cuts to the dark part AND this one) but I think the version in ghostbusters was necessary for the vibe of that scene because I mean you don’t have soft, sweet music playing when a deity from c. 5500 - c. 3100 BC is summoned. The “take my hand, walk with me” with the background singers gives me chills every time
Wow it really is a song of two halves, a Jekyll and Hyde of a track. Slow and sensual one half, rhythmic, danceable and dark the other. It was a great choice for the ghostbusters movie, it really energised that scene and added suspense and electricity to the excellent visuals.
Kinda reflects the genius of the movie. Also it important to point out that Ghostbusters comes from a time in cinema when not everything was sanitised and assumed that kids could handle a few scares.
Was watching Ghostbusters today and heard this and learned the name compliments of closed captioning lol. It takes a lot of imagination after hearing the full song and video to imagine it having any place in that movie lol.
I can't understand why this song didn't have the success that had to have, it's so beautiful especially the chorus, even the videoclip is enough sad, it makes see a man who meets a woman in a cocktail bar and he falls in love with her very fastly, in fact he starts thinking of her until he sees her get out from the bar
This song is so freaking SMOOTH! 👌 LOVE the complete transition from soft love ballad to that BADASS tune played in the OG Ghostbusters film! 👻 *Side note: That diner at the beginning of the video is Rae's Restaurant on Pico Blvd in Santa Monica, CA! ❤ My parents & I used to go there alot during the late 90s and eat breakfast! That place has been there since 1958, and I'm amazed how they've survived through so much over the years, especially during Covid & the pandemic ... yes, it's STILL there to this day! 💪👏
No matter how many times I listen to this version (and it's been a TON...), I'm just never ready for the faster part to come on as early as it does here. (Then again, I've listened to the film version 3 billion tons, so...)
