The way the song completely changes midway. So much cooler as a whole than just the small bit heard in Ghostbusters

I love both versions (the original where it’s soft then cuts to the dark part AND this one) but I think the version in ghostbusters was necessary for the vibe of that scene because I mean you don’t have soft, sweet music playing when a deity from c. 5500 - c. 3100 BC is summoned. The “take my hand, walk with me” with the background singers gives me chills every time

Wow it really is a song of two halves, a Jekyll and Hyde of a track. Slow and sensual one half, rhythmic, danceable and dark the other. It was a great choice for the ghostbusters movie, it really energised that scene and added suspense and electricity to the excellent visuals.

Kinda reflects the genius of the movie. Also it important to point out that Ghostbusters comes from a time in cinema when not everything was sanitised and assumed that kids could handle a few scares.
Ray Parker Jr. is a LEGEND yet Mick Smiley made a song that should've been just as HUGE! Love that it kinda reminds me of Man On the Corner by Genesis. ❤

I can't understand why this song didn't have the success that had to have, it's so beautiful especially the chorus, even the videoclip is enough sad, it makes see a man who meets a woman in a cocktail bar and he falls in love with her very fastly, in fact he starts thinking of her until he sees her get out from the bar

I bought the lp of the ghostbusters in 1984 for this song, this version is the best and there is another one that is the original, absolutely great!
Was watching Ghostbusters today and heard this and learned the name compliments of closed captioning lol. It takes a lot of imagination after hearing the full song and video to imagine it having any place in that movie lol.

I like the ethereal-ness of the song - distant and yet so light; I can see why they remixed it.
The tempo change is so brief, I wanted more in the original recording. Mick Smiley worked with the production crew of Ghostbusters to extend that section of the song, I read.
I did not know that thank you for sharing that information really love this song.
Love both versions, this version feels much more relaxed than the other and very easy listening. The other tends to draw you in more and gives off more energy.

hey seriously, thanks for this. I used to love this song and I've never seen this video, Reminded me a little of Ric Ocasek's song "Emotion in Motion". For those who didn't live through the 80's, you really missed out. The world was a much much happier place and music could save your soul, oh and Michael Jackson was a different shade and kicked ass before all the lies about him came out. People are so greedy. AAaaanyway, I digress, thanks for this. I've watched it several times and sent it to a few of my pals. Keep on keeping on.

I still remember my aunt bringing me to GB2 in 89 and getting these empty little cans , like coke cans , with the GB2 logo on them and being told that it had a ghost in it lol! I don’t know if you are familiar but in 09 a ghostbusters game came out with all the original cast (yes even Bill) that is essentially the third film. It’s a real love letter to the movies and I absolutely recommend checking it out if you are a fan. I’m a big fan of 80s music, stuff like Prince, New Order,The Cure, Depeche Mode, Erasure,Nitzer Ebb,Berlin, Cindy Lauper, March Violets, T’Pau...all Rod Stewart’s 80s stuff (like Baby Jane and Young Turks) there’s nothing like music for bringing you back in time and energising a memory.
Oh and wow am I really loving that you perform magic. I’m a bit of a magic fan but apart from the few Tenyo tricks and cars tricks I know I have no idea where to start!

This was always my favorite song on the Ghostbusters soundtrack.
No matter how many times I listen to this version (and it's been a TON...), I'm just never ready for the faster part to come on as early as it does here. (Then again, I've listened to the film version 3 billion tons, so...)

I searched this song to prove to myself you can find anything on youtube these days. I didn't even know people even knew of this song. It was my favorite song of the ghostbusters soundtrack when i was kid, and i still remember all the words to this song.

You weren't. Actually, I recall that when my parents bought me the CD, the first time I played it, I kept looking for the ghost mayhem song and couldn't find it, so I let the CD play from the top and found myself really enjoying this slow ballad..until the ghost song started playing and I went "oooooh". It's definitely one of the most unique songs ever made. It's like 2 songs in one, and both songs are awesome.

I wish this music video had been included on the 15th Anniversary Collector's Edition DVD release of Ghostbusters along with the Ghostbusters music video performed by Ray Parker Jr.

This sounds SO completely different from the Version on the Ghostbusters album!
This is the original version when it was played on MTV (when they played music videos). The version in the movie was technically a remix for the film. I have 2 copies of the soundtrack on CD. the first is the US release where the song was more like the movie. The second (I want to say) is a UK release, the song is more like this version.

@michaelkottler: This is the original recording of the full song not an MTV compromise as you say, the bit in the Ghostbusters movie starts at 2:27 in the music video when his character and the girl are about to make love. Movies will only have an extract of a song used to fit over the amount of footage of a scene they want it to cover in the editing room.
