    It's Fantasyland, 'natch... like in the original. And the spirit is one of us Disney adults. Yep, got it. Oh, so the Duchess. A cat? From the Aristocats? Sounds pretty cool.

  • @TzarinaMystra
    @TzarinaMystra 4 месяца назад +1

    Possibly theory: I've seen on maps that the area immediately in front of the hotel is called the "Springs" area, so maybe the idea is that the spirit flew to each of the miniparks and those experiences informed the creation of just the "springs" directly in front the hotel?

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  4 месяца назад

      Hmm that’s an interesting thought, although the area facing into the park will also be ‘Fantasy Springs’y so I don’t know…

    Love the old opening day Mediterranean Harbor music in the background (so much better than the current bgm btw). I personally interpreted the story as the springs being some entry portals to the different minilands? I think the spirit working, carving stuff was just to make the character rocks (hopefully). The spirit just making a theme park recreation of the magical lands is too ridiculous and would be riddled with plot holes. How do the characters in those areas exist in the first place? It also does make sense if the springs were entry portals, since the spirit has to have access to those lands too. Also, somebody managed to get a full recording of the bgm loop used in the hotel area and uploaded it yesterday.

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ooh good catch with the music!
      I agree that the idea of a recreation is ridiculous, but that seems to be what they’re saying so far… We’ll see if some more details emerge later!

    • @MagicallySpoopy
      @MagicallySpoopy 5 месяцев назад +1

      I totally agree with comment, the only thing that has to do with the "spirit" is the "stone branch and bank" that you see in the very beginning of the land. Like, I imagine the rockwork is going to make music and stuff, or you'll hear music coming from within the rocks - I think the video is totally on the money there. But once you pass through the rocks, you are transported to the actual magical worlds, and the non-diegetic music will just be there.

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  5 месяцев назад +1

      I definitely think from a guest’s perspective that’s how the experience is going to be. I just think it’s a funny backstory if you really try to delve into it, as they don’t mention portals of any kind, but it’s pretty clear that they are transporting us into those different worlds.

    Fantasyland at Disneyland doesn't need this kind of explanation. It's just the land where fairy tales come true. That's enough explanation. Plus, all of these kingdoms are already depicted as being on the water!

    I was never a fan on the "Fantasy Springs" premise for Tokyo DisneySea. I would not have objected to the construction of a "Scandinavian Coast" or even an "Arendelle" port of call had it been constructed in the plot of land directly south of Lost River Delta. But, the combination of these three fairytales into such a contrived backstory for a new port of call is ridiculous. Fantasy Springs, as constructed, would have made for a better addition to Tokyo Disneyland. Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Neverland and Corona/Tangled could have been combined to create an "Enchanted Forest" land for Tokyo Disneyland that is in the realm of fantasy, but separate from Fantasyland, itself. Mickey's Toontown could have been replaced with an additional fairytale area to better connect the newly constructed Fantasy Springs area to Beauty and the Beast, making for a new Enchanted Forest land that's equal in scale to Fantasyland. But, I'm not in a position of authority with the Oriental Land Company or Walt Disney Imagineering and the whole mess has already been constructed, so it is what it is. And yes, I'm well aware that the OLC wanted the addition of fairytale IP into Tokyo DisneySea, but the construction of a Scandinavian Coast/Arendelle south of Lost River Delta would have met that need.

      Exactly 100%. Fantasy Springs sullies the original, perfect concept and theme of Disneysea, and does not fit at all. The land between Port Discovery and Lost River Delta is where the Scandinavian port was supposed to be. Every area of Disneysea is supposed to be a sea port, real or imagined, not some Fantasyland rehash. And remember that the “sea” in Disneysea not only refers to the ocean but also to the “Society of Adventurers and Explorers”. OLC just went off the rails with this thematically, and the story behind it is absurd.

    • @david_walker_esq
      @david_walker_esq 3 месяца назад

      @@Toast0808 I actually like the look of the new land that is not a "port." Well, except for the one side of the hotel facing the parking lot. But, I will never accept it as an expansion of DisneySea. I'd find a way to connect it to Disneyland and make those tunnels connecting Fantasy Springs to Arabian Caoast/Lost River Delta a gateway to Disneyland.

    We were at TD yesterday and I didn't know that you can only really buy one DPA experience at park open 9 a.m.. Then I was cut off until 11 a.m. but by then everything was already sold out for DPA. So even with DPA you can only really choose to pay for one attraction per day if you get there right at park open.

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah even DPA can run out quickly for the most popular rides on busy days, and I think with Fantasy Springs giving unlimited DPA to hotel guests and vacation packages it’s going to be really hard to get them.

      Peter Pan’s Flight being next door never really crossed my mind to be honest, but I’ve had others ask if I think they’ll get rid of it. To me they’re such wildly different experiences, not to mention that they’re in different parks. It the resort can have 2 interactive shooting dark rides based on the Toy Story franchise I think we can have both Peter Pan rides.

    Fantasy Springs story/theme and location is a odd choice to be part of Disney Sea and should of had it's entry portal connected to Disneyland.
    I feel this is actually suppose to be a Disneyland expansion part 2 with Beauty and the Beast/Baymax being part 1 and the delivery timeline of Fantasy Springs got bumped up in the timeline and entry being changed for Disney Sea with other lands/attractions for Disney Sea being put on the shelf for now. (Disney sea has 3 obvious park facing area left to build on)

    OLC years ago stated they were going to be focussed on adding ride capacity/area increases across the parks, particular in Disney Sea, along with more characters as requested from guests surveys. Jump forward a few years and Soaring was added in Disney Sea which meets the capacity request.
    Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway was reported to be given the green light by OLC when they saw early test development of the attraction but then they cancelled the order sometime later with Disney now covering all the costs for two creations. And my theory is Tokyo's version of Runaway is the one sitting in Toontown at Disneyland California. Everything about the exterior building and interior queue to me says this is a Tokyo park design. Even the concept art released of the theatre has Japanese people depicted in the image holding balloons which are a few things leads me to this conclusion.
    Disney Sea - Soaring
    Disneyland - Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway in Toontown (cancelled and built in California instead)
    Disneyland - Beauty & Beast/Theatre/Baymax (replacement for railway)
    Disney Sea - Fantasy Springs (changes made to plans of other smaller areas/attractions with this built with lack lustre story tie in)
    Disneyland - Space Mt re build
    Disney Sea - (held off additions from before fantasy springs)
    Disneyland - (new expansion next to Splash Mt or Splash Mt rethemed into Alice in Wonderland)
    Disney Sky - Third park announced and built.

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  5 месяцев назад

      Ooh lots of interesting ideas here! Tokyo sure did have that space available behind Toontown before Fantasy Springs was built, never heard about that concept art before.
      It’s pretty clear that the Fantasy Springs plot was meant for TDL, but as you said Sea desperately needs more rides, especially for families.
      Definitely see a third park pretty soon on the horizon too! I hope it’ll be DisneySky it’s just too perfect

    • @Banjo_Tails
      @Banjo_Tails 5 месяцев назад

      @@8bitthemepark if you google "mickey and minnie railway Disneyland concept art" and go to images it should be the first image of the search.
      My thought is the theatre building would sit in Tokyo's toon town as it does now in Disneyland - next to city hall which from memory is a food venue and the show building would sit along the current tree line which would be replaced with the painted hills similar to La. This would also provide a barrier of sight lines to any other building behind the railway show building such as tangled, frozen castle, frozen mountain.

    I mean the whole springs concept makes sense :) Japanese culture and mythos revolves heavily on how spirits and humans interact with one another, so seeing that reflected in theme park planning is honestly really cool. I look forward to see how detailed the walking portions of the land s turn out from a guest's view, because that's where a lot more of the story for this area could be shown (not told 🤙). If anything I just want this area to be a smash hit to give Disney even more reason to reach this standard of themeing in the states, because the orlando resort is looking less appealing by the minute :/ I mean hell, I want to work for Universal Creative more than Imagineering because Epic universe is acually playing around with innovative concepts. Meanwhile, Disney can't even put a proper Zootopia city center in the theme park literally built around animals...
    It's been years since that film broke box office records :/ I don't want to hear it.
    Now if you'll excuse me, i'll be making concept art about how to bring Ilvermorny to Orlando by 2034 🤔

    • @8bitthemepark
      @8bitthemepark  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yea that’s my general takeaway, it’s cool that they put this much thought into it, but 99% of guests won’t even know, which is totally fine! Having a story to inform the design of the area is enough!

    No. You've got the concept of Fantasy Springs wrong!! It's supposed to be a port of fantasy (dream), and therefore it's not supposed to be a part of all the other ports, which are all connected to one another, at DisneySEA. Look at the new Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland, for instance, there is a reason why it's got a giant castle of its own. In other words, Fantasy Springs is supposed to be a port of dreams within the Land of Dreams. If you have lived here in Japan for long enough, you know how Tokyo Disney Resort is advertised in Japanese, don't you? It's called 夢の国 (the Land of Dreams). There is a reason why children are flying above the clouds ( what Japanese people think of experiencing a dream while sleeping ) and headed into Fantasy Springs in the Peter Pan-like fashion in the official commercial. You are flying into the Port of Dreams!; it's not supposed to be just another port integrated into the park.
