The Hood Canal Bridge is about to get a round a bout on the west end, and another at the turn off to Port Townsend on highway 19. Back ups will increase.
2:47 If you didn't realize, that smell is strong at that point. It's the local paper and pulp mill. If you turned right at that intersection entering town with the sign, it would've taken you there.
It's just so funny, I've lived in pt for my whole life and commute to school every day over that bridge, also that smell is the mill. I just find it so interesting that you guys are so fascinated with pt and down town.
As a Truck Driver in the area and friends who live/lived in Port Townsend and outlying areas have driven that Bridge hundreds of times. Been across back in the toll days, been stopped while Submarines passed underneath, thus making them have to open the span. Yep crossed it a few times.
Years ago like in late 90’s before all the growth in area, my favorite thing to do was during rainy winter months, to walk the streets of PT….it was the most peaceful thing, the little beach, the wharf and stand in the wind looking at the ocean…… then maybe a public house lunch, then joe Euro’s Wine Cellar and head home…….. those were the days……
I drive a white Kia Soul and am pretty sure that you're seeing me at 3:22 haha. I only say this because you actually drive past my home street on the way to downtown! The Bayview is so bleh compared to the rest of our food. If you want a good experience, go to Sirens, Docs, Waterfront, Alchemy, Quench, Tommy Knockers, Silverwater, Banana leaf, Golden Ocean, Fiesta etc... We are so rich with food here! Super glad you checked out Soak On The Sound, it's our hidden therapy here in PT. I feel my Washington off-season depression drift away every time I book a pool. Thank you for visiting and supporting our little town! :)
Awww man im still laughin @ what renae said thecwater fallin out n sam said fallin out or drainin out thats me shes so much like me. I can be silly at times with my words. Lol i keep thinkin bout it n laughin in my mind. Yall are too cute love seein yalls videos.
One more comment: the land you see straight our your hotel room is Indian Island, which is a munitions storage. All aircraft carriers, ships and nuclear subs stop before entering the Puget Sound and everything from food to bombs comes off there. They stop when departing for reloading.
The smell is the paper mill :) We can smell it over on Whidbey Island - it’s fantastic lol Oh no!! Tommyknockers used to be this amazing little volunteer-run coffee shop called the Boiler Room… sad to see it’s closed :/ Thanks for the info though!
What you called a island as you went over the Hood Canal bridge is not a island it is connected to the mainland you can walk across at low tide. It's called Hoods Head.
I live in port Townsend and I love it but I hate that my best friend moved away but she only moved a couple of hours away from me but I still love her and miss her so much
I lived in Port Townsend for 7 years...Port Townsend has two streets that run thru town...the one your on takes you thru town then there is a up town street ... If you pay attention to the Tides Hotel, the single story rooms...one of the room is the exact room that Officer and a Gentleman was filmed as well as the Military housing. The water area is THE PUDGET SOUND...NOT QUITE THE OCEAN, from the Tides you look across to Whidby Island where the Naval Base is. In Port Townsend there is STILL A LAW ON THE BOOKS that is NO SPITTING ON THE SIDE WALKS and has been a LAW sense the 18 hundreds, they made the LAW because it was a sea Port and women in their BIG LONG DRESSES that would drag on the sidewalks SO THE LAW WAS MADE so their dresses would not drag thru spit ;) Seriously!!! If you went to the end of town where there is boat docks across that water way you are looking over to Canada. But Port Townsend had a Few Movies made there and the Fairies...one was Officer and a Gentleman, the movie with J-LO ENOUGH, Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman made the movie where her husband faked his death and went to New Orleans. Yep all partially filmed on Port Townsend
Oh this is so beautiful! I understand my parents attraction to the town. I love sleeping near the ocean and hearing the waves. It was cool to see the difference on the shore with the tide in, the next morning. Thank for sharing!
When you saw the PT sign you were not really in PT, and the smell is the giant paper Mill down from that sign. But the smell leaves when you hit the business district. Great town to raise kids in. Beautiful!
I am glad you both had a good time. I enjoyed the video. I didn't get to see much of the downtown when I was there a few years back. It was pouring rain. Rain? Naw- Never rains in Washington....
glad to see you both having some fun time together. Enjoy life for it is never guaranteed to last forever. Love all those old buildings. Just can't keep out of the water can you Sam. Salt water soak at that. Wow.
I lived in Sunnyside WA for about a year. I didn't get to see too many sites. Mt. Rainier was about it. We moved there for a job and worked all the time. We decided to come back to Arkansas. 😉
Another beautiful video and adventure! That room was to die for! The view and decor were incredible. You get sponsored by these hotels and Inns you visit for all the publicity you’re giving them! I definitely need to visit Washington again! You guys are adorable too!
A Tommyknocker, or knocker, is a supernatural being associated with mining in Cornish, Welsh, and American folklore. That's from Wikipedia xx I can't wait to hear what you feel like after the Soak on the Sound x

Personally, port Townsend is a hidden gem, not many know about it
When you saw the PT sign you were not really in PT, and the smell is the giant paper Mill down from that sign. But the smell leaves when you hit the business district. Great town to raise kids in. Beautiful!
Love the bridges, always means a great adventure is coming on the other side!
I am glad you both had a good time. I enjoyed the video. I didn't get to see much of the downtown when I was there a few years back. It was pouring rain. Rain? Naw- Never rains in Washington....

I love Port Townsend. It is like taking a time warp to the turn of the century...the early 20th century.
