11:21 seth took that one video to heart where he kept not playing malcolm at instant speed and now checks all his creatures to see if they have flash lol
I've been thinking about this combo for a while! You could also goes infinite with Kumena and Deeproot Pilgrim. Turn 2 Pilgrim>Turn 3 Alarm>Turn 4 Kumena+1 random merfolk
Intruder Alarm can also act as a kind of pseudo-stax piece, though this brew is a little creature heavy to have that work out frequently. It forces your opponent to keep drawing and committing creatures if they want to attack.
Presence of Gond is an aura that turns any creature into the combo piece you need. I'd replace Xerex with it personally. It does require another creature, but because that creature could be sitting there already they'll often get to combo off the turn you play it, sort of a pseudo haste.
My Intruder alarm deck back in the day was with Presence of Gond in an Elfball shell. That way when the opponent sideboarded in things to deal with enchantments, I could swap them out and go full Elf beatdown instead. I also had Blasting stations to deal with turbo fog type decks - instead of waiting till the next turn to attack with the infinite tokens, just sac them as they're created for infinite damage to the face, since the Station also untaps when a creature comes into play.
i run intruder alarm in my merfolk commander deck, it combos extremely well with something like kiora's follower or any mana enchantment plus the new enchantment from caverns. Merfolk also has one really funny card that simply taps an untapped merfolk and target player mills one card. that combo has made my playgroup very wary of my merfolk deck, thanks all to intruder alarm and my personal choice of elven chorus.
Technically wouldn't Mishra's Bauble be good here to draw Intruder Alarm the "same" turn Moon-Blessed Oracle enters the battlefield as well as make Xerex easier to activate?
I had a casual bant cat tribal combo deck with Intruder Alarm & Pride Sovereign. Thought I was a mastermind figuring out that combo. Only played Magic for about a year at that point.
If I'm not mistaken Presence of Gond is on MTGA, and is a pseudo-hasty creature generator given that you can put it on a creature without summoning sickness.
Is it just a Timeless thing? I'd be sad if Seth gave up on BO3. If I just want to see a janky deck pull off a miracle on an unsuspecting opponent, there are other streamers for that …
I think it's quite an against the odds since it's not only weak to instant interactions but also boardwipes (or just losing before getting next turn). Not having haste is the killer, but i guess that's the cost of it being 2 card combo and not 3.
Years ago I had a deck that made infinite mana with intruder alarm and forbidden orchard to braingeyser my opponent. I don’t recall what enchantment turned the land into a creature but it was fun.
Derevi deck. Infinite mana through deadeye navigator and palinchron combo. Cast psychic venom targeting on of their lands. Cast animate land. Their land is now a creature YOU can force to tap and untap whenever derevi ETBs. You can infinite ETB with deadeye navigator. It’s a 5 card win con but it’s a win con
In the close game with Ragavan, even if you had the second spell to activate Xerex, the moment you played Intruder Alarm and made a creature to untap all creatures, your opponent would've been able to use the same infinite against you with the creature they stole.
8:46 Grizzled Huntmaster is not a may when it comes to exiling cards of the same name from your library. You would have to hand it to your opponent and let them confirm you have exiled all cards of the same name if it was in paper.
Imperious Perfect and a green mana dork could also do it. Krenko, Mob Boss would require red, the 4 cost isn't really much worse than the cast 2 spells requirement. Bloodline Keeper would require black but would be similar to Krenko, but Krenko can go wider without the alarm. Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter could go off with intruder alarm, but it requires both black and red and an artifact on board to get the combo started. Marrow-Gnawer could do it, but you need black and other rats to get going. The Piper of the swarm costs too much mana to go nuts with Alarm, but Alarm could enhance it. Actually working some blue and intruder alarm into some sort of rat deck might be interesting
Would Crashing Drawbridge not be a perfect addition? 0/4 artifact wall for 2 colorless mana with the ability to tap in order to gain haste for all creature you control until the end of turn. That way you can attack with all tokens on the turn you create them.
You're actually sunk multiple ways in that Ragavan game 1. You don't actually have the mana to play both your creature and your intruder alarm, because there are no lands in the graveyard. Deathrite is not a mana dork here lol. 2. Several people have pointed it out, but opponent would also get to combo off, since the creature they stole would also untap when your creatures enter 3. On opponents turn, they would have the mana to activate deathrite enough times to kill you using the untap ability from intruder alarm, which you did realize. TlL;DR: Stupid monkey strikes again!
So that's how you use it. I've had a couple of these for a while but had no idea what to do with them other than Chulane and some combo piece most likely. Seeing it work this budget though makes me wonder if I shouldn't try and make a paper deck and go infinite as practice before I just give one to The Teller of Tales and then debate if the other has any use with my other non-combo commanders.
Hey, Xerex strobe knight is pretty great in limited. Having a flying vigilance dude that can make more bodies is pretty great. The restriction is pretty restricting, but think of the value!
There are a few 1 mana "tap give creature haste" that could have been useful to speed up both combos and kills. only issue is they are red, but its a fetch format
Volshe Tideturner + Deeproot Pilgrimage + Intruder Alarm = infinite 1/1 tokens with hexproof and infinite blue mana to cast instants, sorceries or kicked spells. How does that sound?
At 21:20 the board state is even better against an anger of the gods than you were saying. None of your creatures would even die. You just pro red 2 of your creatures then make a dude, which untaps both givers. Pro red 2 more and make another dude. Eventually your entire team will be pro red
At 29:00, don’t you also have infinite untaps with Deathrite Shaman, which you can use to make mana to activate its abilities, possibly winning on the spot or at least gaining enough life to survive the turn and win?
You can do a similar combo with Agatha soul cauldron and first day of class. It kinda works😅 inquisitive puppet becomes another combo piece so you’d get 3
Is thraben doomsayer not on arena? Would be a nice alternative to strobe knight, that said in case you run into soul sisters the 2/2 might be relecant as well.
So Saheeli Suns Brilliance + Intruder alarm + Atsushi = infinite mana and draw your deck, so on curve 2,3,4 you win on turn 5. And this is because Saheeli doesn’t care about Legend rule
Just keep making tokens. If you need 20 tokens for lethal, then make 60. Your opponent can scoop at any point if they get sick of waiting for you to make enough tokens to have lethal. There's no point risking not having lethal just to speed things up for our sake or your opponent's sake.
Can you please break Oracle of the Alpha, I’ve been messing around with a deck that runs aetherflux resouvoir and bolass citadel to get an insane storm count with the power 9, along with sheoldred and bow masters to break timetwister. I’d love to see your take
Game against Jund Lurris wasn't nearly as close as you thought it was. Because stupid monkey stole your Steward, you automatically lose if you play an Intruder Alarm at any point because it's a symmetrical effect, so your opponent gets to go infinite before you do using your own enchantment. The whole time you needed Swords to get rid of the Steward, the chances of you winning that game were astronomically low once he hit Steward.
This is a two-card combo deck, and I don't think this was the optimal shell. I would describe this deck as building Splinter Twin - and using multiple card slots on Lotus Petals and Rite of Fire to speed the maximum goldfish speed up. That's not really how tier combo decks work any more: decks are so focused on interaction and grinding, that you're better off spending those slots on playing a "fair" game of Magic, and treat the combo finish as just one option among many. I think you could build an "against the odds" style combo deck of any current major combo deck that has the matches play out like this run did. Not to say that Intruder Alarm *would* be broken in Historic - but I think this isn't really a fair test when it comes to what it would look like in an actual meta. Also, just clicking "make token" until you hit the token limit would be obnoxious even if the deck were otherwise fine.
I can't believe you broke intruder alarm!
Lol
We did it!
Such a vanilla card I'm surprised it was even possible
Lmao
the wits.
28:56
Your opponent had your Steward. If you went infinite with intruder alarm, so does opponent 😂
Glad someone brought it up 😂
Literally was gonna make this post - you nailed it.
I was really hoping he would slam it down and see it happen.
Lol, now I wish that happened because it would have been hilarious.
The intruder alarm would also untap the deathrites for the opponent, for an even more instant death.
11:21 seth took that one video to heart where he kept not playing malcolm at instant speed and now checks all his creatures to see if they have flash lol
Seth: introduces burn as the budget way to play timeless
Also Seth: what's with all tose burn players?
6:56 I am I the only one disturbed by the fact that Seth's moves away his mouse before clicking back on the knight for each loop?
It is a dance with mtga. You have never felt its rhythm
No, me too.
Intruder alarm turns your card into 'Xerox Strobe Knight'
I've been thinking about this combo for a while!
You could also goes infinite with Kumena and Deeproot Pilgrim. Turn 2 Pilgrim>Turn 3 Alarm>Turn 4 Kumena+1 random merfolk
Ohh, that sounds pretty sweet!
But using Kumena is more clicks on Arena because you need to choose which tap ability of Kumena you want.
Midnight guard would make intruder alarm unnecessary (with presence of gond)
You could also at that point move to more of an enchantress shell to dig for and protect the combo
Krenko mob boss also a tap to make creature card for a red blue brew
Agatha's Soul Cauldron seems like it would be very strong in this deck.
And Leyline of Sanctity
Alright we finally broke Agatha's Soul Cauldron and Intruder Alarm! Never thought I'd see the day lol.
Flash, flying, basically the same thing.
i run intruder alarm in my merfolk commander deck, it combos extremely well with something like kiora's follower or any mana enchantment plus the new enchantment from caverns. Merfolk also has one really funny card that simply taps an untapped merfolk and target player mills one card. that combo has made my playgroup very wary of my merfolk deck, thanks all to intruder alarm and my personal choice of elven chorus.
I played it in a Chulaine deck right before I decided it would be better for me not to play casual EDH anymore.
Someone finally pointed out that someone else pointed out that we finally broke intruder alarm
13:53 “…our creatures are not very good at attacking!” -Seth, being wrong
Since they added this on arena I've been waiting to see you have some good old fashioned fun abusing this totally "fair" magic card 😂 great video!
POV: You play intruder alarm and your opponent goes infinite
If I'm not mistaken Presence of Gond is on MTGA, and is a pseudo-hasty creature generator given that you can put it on a creature without summoning sickness.
Seth : makes fun of opponent for using the one ring in response to its trigger
SaffronOlive : thinks flying 🪽 means flash
If I remember correctly Strobe-Knight was pretty highly picked in limited.
I wish these timelesss videos were BO3
Is it just a Timeless thing? I'd be sad if Seth gave up on BO3. If I just want to see a janky deck pull off a miracle on an unsuspecting opponent, there are other streamers for that …

I wish prodigal sorcerer was available on Arena, it would be great in a deck like this
“It sets off alarms” yes, the intruder alarm ❤
I’m always surprised that Thraben Doomsayer isn’t on Arena. Then i remember it was printed in DKA and hasn’t been reprinted since Commander: Ikoria
33:48 If you play a terrible card like Steward of Solidarity, it’s gotta set off some alarms… some Intruder Alarms
Seth "I imagine if you see someone play Steward of Solidarity, its gotta set off ALARMS" ;)
Would Crashing Drawbridge not be a perfect addition?

30:00 When everything is broken and overpowered, then nothing is
5:05 it was, indeed, an all star in limited lol

The way Saffron's beanie is positioned just makes it look like hes wearing cat ear headphones. Lmao
Especially on the dark boards
Seth is channeling Phil's aura here 🤩
I want to see a timeless deck with four maindeck Lurrus. I've only ever seen it as a companion.
Timeless is why I came back to Arena, it's so good.
I was wondering if for arena videos, for the cost you could list the mythics and rares costs instead of paper and tix cost?
Maybe the real Intruders were the friends Steward made along the way.
Xerex needs an alchemy buff to give it flash. Wizards!! undo Seth's mistake!
41:41 your tokens have Vigilance
At 29:00, don’t you also have infinite untaps with Deathrite Shaman, which you can use to make mana to activate its abilities, possibly winning on the spot or at least gaining enough life to survive the turn and win?
You can do a similar combo with Agatha soul cauldron and first day of class. It kinda works😅
inquisitive puppet becomes another combo piece so you’d get 3
This deck would have +2 survivability with *Spell Pierce*
just faced the infinite token combo of "midnight guard"/"presence of gond" in pauper today
Is Romana II on MTGO? If it and quantum misalignment are, it’s another thing to do, with alarm.
Seth… you missed Presence of Gond which literally turns any creature into a wincon, especially since it’s a bant list
love the timeless content
As a "win more" kind of player, i want to see this wirh Cathar's Crusade.
Wow, you made an infinite tokens deck.... In bant!
Is thraben doomsayer not on arena? Would be a nice alternative to strobe knight, that said in case you run into soul sisters the 2/2 might be relecant as well.
Somebody finally commented that we finally broke intruder alarm
should have put in presence of gond . 3 mana enchantment aura that gives creature tap to put a 1/1 into play a green aura
lol I wonder if Seth unconsciously associated the word "flash" with the word "strobe" and that's why he thought the strobe knight had flash
On that first match against angels if the opponent had Swords they could have killed one of their own angels to survive and kill you on the way back.
he mentioned anger of the gods. But pushes glasses technically he could protect his whole board with double giver of runes....
So Saheeli Suns Brilliance + Intruder alarm + Atsushi = infinite mana and draw your deck, so on curve 2,3,4 you win on turn 5. And this is because Saheeli doesn’t care about Legend rule
Maybe an elf version with imperious perfect plus mana dork for the combo, but a better plan B?
Can't believe you overlooked the best intruder alarm combo piece, godsire. Run this deck back but built right
This is missing Altar of the Brood or Impact Tremors to be safe against Board wipes and also make wins more consistent.
Sadly I don't see any combo decks that can't use dark ritual being viable in timeless
Wouln't Brainstorm be a useful piece for this?
hold up
2:00 did you just say two mana dorks are bodies for chord of calling?
21:20 does protection helps against sweepers?
Only damage based sweepers. An actual Wrath of God won't be stopped by protection.
Just keep making tokens. If you need 20 tokens for lethal, then make 60. Your opponent can scoop at any point if they get sick of waiting for you to make enough tokens to have lethal. There's no point risking not having lethal just to speed things up for our sake or your opponent's sake.
Why make 60 when you can make 69?
wouldn't Altar of the Brood be actually good in the deck ?
Prime Speaker Vannifar is fun with Intruder Alarm
Next thing you'll tell me is that you found a way to break Cloudstone Curio.
no way we broke intruder alarm thats a trash rare NO WAY
intruder alarm is busted what do you mean
ever heard of satire?@@Bitter.Bitter
do you even metasatire? @@noobtube2799
@@noobtube2799no
@@noobtube2799 You were using sarcasm, not satire. Satire would require you to be, you know, satirizing something.
Miss your modern content
hi your one of my favorite youtubers can you make a video or give me some tips for competitive magic
I miss best of 3
I have an intruder alarm and deeproot pilgrimage deck it’s fun Infinite merfolk!!! (For modern)
Emmara Soul of the Accord
Jaspera Sentinel
???
Craterhoof T2
I wonder if the deck would do better in bo3, where there aren't nearly as many aggro decks.
you need to play mishras bauble to secure the second spell.. xD
Can you please break Oracle of the Alpha, I’ve been messing around with a deck that runs aetherflux resouvoir and bolass citadel to get an insane storm count with the power 9, along with sheoldred and bow masters to break timetwister. I’d love to see your take
1 question.
Why not Krenko?
19:02
@AaronRotenberg you caught me, I commented without watching first lol
Someone finally broke it
Not sure why you always “combo” on your own turn, steward can combo, at instant speed and the tokens don’t have haste
Is Rakdos Charm on Arena?
Game against Jund Lurris wasn't nearly as close as you thought it was. I run settle the wreckage in case of stuff like this lol
Intruder Alarm is Against The Odds. It really has been 20 years, hasn't it? 🤭
