    Man I thought this race would be boring, but it just gets more intense toward the end. Incredible save by Carter in the Aston, sheesh!

    may be a strange question, but are any of these cars actually street legal, meaning, possibly some of these drivers actually drive these cars to the tracks and then back home again afterwards?

    How are Mustangs and Caymans competitive with a McLaren 570? Do they use restrictors?

    2:05:51 Defining moment... Mustang at fault hands down. It is 100% the responsibility of the overtaker to complete the pass SAFELY & CLEANLY. Although I applaud them for allowing this race to continue green with the stopped Porsche on track. There is inconsistency in not going Full Course Caution. SAFETY IS PRIORITY DURING THE RACE BUT NOT TOWARDS THE END??? The Full course would have prevented the incident between the Mustang & the Aston all together & Finishing under Caution giving the win to the Aston. Love how the officials can just decide to do whatever they want on the fly👍🏻. Politics & Power trip at its best.

      Thanks, it would be helpful if they mentioned the date of the race when they posted this. I was pretty sure that it didn't run on July 11th, but it didn't say.

    I regards to the red flag situations, guessing even with Rain tires on, these cars just couldnt handle the wet surface, or was it red flagged for a different reason, and if so, I really do apologize big time for not noticing.....

    • @imsaofficial
      @imsaofficial  3 года назад

      It's been a few years since this race but typically a race is red flagged if there is standing water on the track or there was a lightning strike in the area.

      From their website:
      The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge features sports cars from manufacturers worldwide, straight from the showroom floor, racing side-by-side with only minor modifications. The two classes competing simultaneously on track are Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST).
      Classes
      Grand Sport (GS) - As with all Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge cars, GS class cars start out as stock, production model cars that race with minor modifications only. The GS class contains the top performing cars and include the Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3, Chevy Camaro GS.R, Ford Shelby GT350R-C, Ford Mustang Boss 302 R, Nissan 370Z, Porsche 911 and Subaru WRX-STI. The engines are tuned to produce between 400 and 500 horsepower and are capable of speeds in excess of 175 mph.
      Street Tuner (ST) - The ST class is also production based with much of the car using the same stock parts you would find on your passenger car. This class is limited to four- and six-cylinder and rotary engines. The ST class includes the Audi S3, BMW 128 and 325, Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Genesis, Mazda MX-5, Nissan Altima and Porsche Boxster and Cayman. The engines are tuned to produce between 220 and 280 horsepower and are capable of speeds in excess of 150 mph.

    59 didn't hold his line during that incident. I am okay with him diving under the 99 if he could've held his line. If you are making the pass, you have to make the pass clean. If you can't make the pass clean, then it isn't a pass.

      The Mustang was clearly on the inside of the corner going in, the Aston turned down into him trying to close a door the mustang was already standing in. Race stewards unanimously agreed. The dude in the Aston choked.

    • @albinorhino6
      @albinorhino6 7 лет назад

      That's not what happened. The Mustang hit the inside curb and couldn't hold his line. Amateur pass, kind of shit you see on a PlayStation.

    Good racing. Worst commentators I have ever heard. I simply can not watch this. I can't even fwd to the last 30 min. 3 wide in front of them with passing with passes set up and executed under braking - and they footnote 30 sec later while as the same pack of 4 undergoes same battling. Yet they discuss what happened in qualy while only 20 min remains in the race?? They have no sense of race presence or even purpose. They keep track of the race via the leader board. They would make excellent historical auction reporters. Dynamite table for sale - real patina.

      If you haven't been listening, then you do not know John Hindhaugh, Jeremy Shaw, Shea Adam and Jim Roller. Greatest British bunch since the landing of those insects in the U.S. back in the 60s (no offense to the colonists Shea and Jim).

      I have been.I watch F1, Indy, Lemans, V8 Supercars, MotoGP, and Conti and IMSA elsewhere and while they are nice people who should be replaced until they can match up to any of them.

      I can agree. James Hunt and Murray Walker, even Martin Brundle and David Croft are miles above, and it's kinda cringey to listen to this broadcast at times. The pit lane commentary though seems on point for the most part. Cant complain though; full race uploads for free.

      Whoa.. the diversity of this world. I could not disagree with you more. Yes, there are others that give it a bit more "class" when narrating but I like these guys best.
      Whereas other narrators would sit there with their top hats and monocles on and say "dreadfully sorry to impose my disagreement, old chap", these guys at IMSA go "you're out of your mind! That's clearly.. are you blind? Shut up!" (Exaggeration for illustration purposes only). Far more real and far closer to what I say and how I react when I'm watching with friends.

    • @parsnickenny

      I also disagree with jiff. I enjoy the bickering between the two Brits! One guy is more excitable, and the second is more of a cool-headed "facts" guy. Whatever though.

    Bad form from the Mustang, in my opinion. Aston Martin deserved that win... instead, they got taken out by some newbie driver I've never even heard of.

    • @Dethmeister
      @Dethmeister 7 лет назад +1

      It was close but I don't think the Mustang was at fault and neither did the driver of the Aston Martin. After the Aston Martin ran wide on that 1st corner, the Mustang was able to get underneath and was hugging the curb on the next. I think the Aston came down and touched making them both run wide coming out of that turn and of course the Aston bounced off even wider.

      "Post-race, Carter came to victory lane to congratulate the KohR drivers, and told IMSA Radio that he viewed the contact as a racing incident." -- That's from the Aston driver.
      and Dean Martin is a well known Mustang racer.

    • @cobrafan427
      @cobrafan427 7 лет назад +1

      Andrew Geier The Mustang driver has raced in the GTS class of Pirelli World Challenge (in a Mustang) for a handful of years. He's hardly a newbie. Besides the Aston washed out wide and the Mustang already established the inside position. From the Mustang onboard it looked like the Aston turned down on him

    • @parsnickenny
      @parsnickenny 7 лет назад

      Yeah I agree with Dethmeister. The Mustang got into that turn early and was as far into the turn as he could get, without running on the rumblies. It's not like the Mustang driver slammed INTO the Aston...you can clearly see he got in there, and was fighting to keep the car inwards.
