Yes they went to india to seek help from growing power of communist China from 1949 in the kham region and amdo region of Tibet.in 1956 his holiness Dalai Lama and the penchen lama met pandit nehru and he told them China won’t invade Tibet and advise them to return back and solve it through dialogue with China. After they returned back to Tibet. in 1959 China invade the whole Tibet and his holiness Dalai Lama Fled to india and penchen lama stayed back in Tibet. In 1989 they killed the 10th penchen lama by poisoned. And this is the 11th penchen lama.
What if the Panchen Lama is still alive but has decided to live the drugs-sex-and-rock-&-roll lifestyle and disregarded his former identity and calling?
I pray he is ok and healthy and will eventually find his place back within the Tibetan community.
