while i don’t enjoy the interviewer, it’s nice to see how he responds to her unnecessarily aggressive/apathetic attitude . shows his compassion and character even better in my opinion
I think most people would find it hard to know how to conduct themselves in front of such a spiritual being. You want to ask your questions but don't want to offend him in any way. As the Dalai Lama said a lot of problems are of our own doings, so you feel like you want to do everything right in front of him!
I'm honestly glad the interviewer was aggressive. It really demonstrates the Dalai Lama's tact and peaceful nature. He's so chill during the whole thing. He's vibin' and it sets an example for the rest of us. You don't have to react to aggression.
I take it you have not seen every interview of this man. Not the guy we were tricked into thinking. Bad man. Smart of the Chinese to give him the boot.
She addressed him as Holiness so that's not that arrogant. May be you expected her to bow down or ask silly questions like what's the purpose of life, meaning of existence.
This is very common. She is resentful towards white people and the west in general. She doesn’t deserve to speak English. The only politician that’s evil is the one that let her in
How wrong was the interviewer asking and demanding validation from de Dalai Lama about her parents staying in the UK as immigrants. That was a very personal and selfish question when she is interviewing the spiritual leader. She was mad about the Lamas opinions about immigrants returning to their own land and she needed for him to said that their parents didn’t wrong and is ok for her to stay there. Min 9:55
Agree. And one notes that the interviewer's parents were obviously not refugees. Refugees are people who are forced to flee their country due to persecution or violence, e.g. from Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia etc.
BiST PrintS Dude I’m Indian. Not all Indian acts this way. She’s just a radicalized liberal feminist that got triggered by the Dalai Lama because everything id offensive now.
Jasmine K Wow based on one person you draw a generalization of over a billion people who has many different subgroups within them. You do realize that not all Indians are the same right? Plus there are many different cultures within India similar to how Europeans have multiple people speaking various Romance languages like Spanish or Italian.
The Dalai Lama listened to her questions who where actually her own views and opinions. He did this without judging her and respected her as a human being who is going through her own self development . This is wisdom. And this is clearly seen during the end of the interview as she became lighter and happier within her self.Just being in the Dalai Lama presence is an honour and a privilege. I hope one day she see's this, as the day this happens she will weep as her heart opens.
I don't think these views are her own, it's BBC group think. She wouldn't be allowed to do the interview if she diverged from that narrative. She was probably also selected by a feminist editor to be the brown face for their views. Nothing wrong with equality for woman by the way, just mean the ideology of Feminism.
The interviewer spoke with an aggressive and assertive tone as if she was interviewing a politician. Couldn’t they find someone more suited for this unique subject? Most of her questions were loaded on political subjects. He’s a spiritual man. Talk to him like a human being who has empathy and understanding for the human condition. Ask him about how he feels man can improve upon his plight and state in the world today, not about Brexit, Trump, and various other subjects involving greed and thirst for power which play no role in his spiritual world. 🤦♂️
Don't be silly. The sole purpose of this "interview" is to ask leading questions to try to get the holy Dalai Lama to say something anti-Trump, anti-Brexit, and pro-mass immigration, to fit the BBC agenda.
But the Dalai Lama sets himself up as a global statesperson, an Enlightened person whose books have sold massively on that premise. If the Dalai Lama pontificates and profits from it (and meets out advice to US presidents and global statespeople) then he must be held to account.
TheReubstar account for what? She was completely the wrong character to interview his holiness, she didn’t get his sense of humour nor understand his views
@@indigoskywalker Account for his views. Sende of humour is fine but he double-down on his sexist comments. If he wants to make millions from publishing books about inner peace and his access to world leaders then we need to understand his views and when they are sexist, well, it is right, I think, to challenge that.
The Dalai Lama is an Opportunist, who was conveniently sandwiched so he could be used by interests which are in opposition to China. And he wants to extend his own legitimacy to the extent of sacrificing the institution. That he should be the last ‘Dalai Lama’ . Therefore he is relatively worthless to Tibet, to be honest. A weak leader. He has no right to sacrifice the eternal. He is himself not eternal. And so if he can’t fight for it, then China will put one there, and why should they not? All the jokes he makes, and not careful with his language about women, that’s not funny at all.
Why was she so insisting on asking political question regarding UK or Europe? If you have the opportunity to interview the Dalai Lama the question should suit the person. Is like asking to Einstein “is it going to rain today?”.
M CT this so called holy man is the hired hitman under the payroll of the notorious Agency et al out to cause destruction and separation without firing even a single shot!
Is it not obvious? They desperately want the perspective of a universally loved person such as the Dalai Lama to fall into their purview. If the Dalai Lama says that Europe's borders should be flung open, that Orange Man is bad and that Brexit is evil then OF COURSE they're the good guys.
@@donbow450 msm would have you believe that. Speak to the vast majority of British people (British means, English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, or Manx. Which means white) and they'll tell you that the invasion is unacceptable. THEY WILL GO BACK.
I love the way he laughs at her. This "interview" is a great example of small-minded seriousness meeting large-minded jest. The Dalai Lama is a wonderful comic spirit!
He ruled over an absolute theocracy with serfdom, and still would if he could. This tin pot dictator sure has Westerners eating out of his blood stained hand.
I agree with those who are pointing out the hostility the journalist was bringing to this interview, and her lack of scope. We do not come out informed in the end, we come away with a sense of disarray. BBC fell far short of its standards here and threw away an enormous opportunity. These opportunities are far and few between.
Had it not been for him, I would have probably killed myself or gone mad by now. When I have been at my worse, I listen to his words, and it puts me back 'right'. I can feel his love, compassion, and understanding!
Can't bear to watch her carelessly moving from one question to another without being involved in the answers! Sheer ignorance and no humility while talking to a leader of refugees who witnessed such painful atrocities. Dalai Lama, even after losing his land is so happy and calm, that's a beautiful state of mind.
How did you measure that? I bet they all are. But in any case - when you claim something like this "the only", "the first one" - you better provide support evidence. Measurable and representative comparison. Otherwise use different wording. Such as "one of the the few" etc. Unless you want to be laughed at, off course.
He genuinely laughs and smiles throughout . A sign of transcendence and spiritual tranquility . He sees a solution in every problem while she sees a problem in every solution that is the only difference. She would do a better job interviewing a politician she is stern and powerful but in this case it was just a bad match . Long live his holiness
I wouldn't associate her with the word 'powerful' but rather "intense". You're right however, she's better suited to interview a tiran politician rather than someone who's been awarded the nobel Prize of peace.
She is something else, couldn't finish watching the video with her in it. Can watch him all day. Hopefully, she has thawed more, with the realization that she is one of the very few who has had the privilege and gift of sitting in the same room as one of the worlds greatest teachers..
I felt the interviewer lacks to comprehend the essential message his holiness was trying to convey regarding migrations and refugee crisis. Perhaps the misunderstanding might be attributed to some language barrier. His holiness meant that the large number of refugees had to flee their country unwillingly and in fear due to such horrific circumstances compromising their safety and safety of their loved ones. If the safety, security and standards of living conditions improves, many refugees may prefer living in their own native country because many of whom are familiar with the language, climate, food, culture etc. Therefore, those refugees should be provided with resources to help them learn new knowledge and skills in hopes of rebuilding and returning to their own country someday. However, if any refugees or immigrant families are granted asylum by the European countries where they have found peace, stability and happiness, then that’s okay and they can live there as they please. There was no question about whether those refugees and immigrants willing to stay in Europe should or should not be allowed to stay or was it wrong. I truly hope the viewers do not take this in a negative sense. His holiness the Dalai Lama has devoted all his life relentlessly serving others and promoting the value of peace and harmony amongst each other; thus, he would never make such comment that would intentionally hurt others’ feelings. May peace prevails!!
This is a realist’s answer. You can’t expect to suddenly squeeze refugees in Eu indefinitely and not try solve the issue itself which is fanatic Islamist based violence in ME. Squeezing so many people will inevitably cause a upswing in hard Right sentiment as a counterbalance. And this will just continue to result in more tension and violence. Humanitarian solution is to equip these refugees with the skills and knowledge to rebuild their country for themselves. What’s wrong in saying that?
What? He says that the whole of Europe becomes African or Muslim, then that is wrong. She then insinuates that that is ok. Apply this logic literally anywhere outside of Europe and see if you have the same feeling on the matter. "Whole of Iraq becomes Christian? Or Dutch?" "But that's okay, isn't it?"
Did anyone notice how that interviewer was changed within 15mins by the positive energy of his holiness? Your holiness, you are light in the darkness😇😇

I'm no Buddhist and by no means a perfect human. But everytime i see this man, humble, gentle, full of wisdom, dignity and compassion, it brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy and sadness. And i can't explain why. Maybe he fills a place in my soul i never had, i don't know. What i know is, that he deserves to be treated kindly and with respect. Something the interviewer by no means did. He is by no means a god - in the end, his spirit may live on but his body will enter the cycle of nature. If Tenzin Gyatso goes, the loss will be a great one and the dragon in the east will probably finally eat the small mountainous country. More so if there really would be no new reincartion.

I'm not sure how to understand his statement. Guessing here, but maybe he's saying it's ok to migrate, and people should be accepted as migrants, but the intent should be to learn, to study, find better ways of doing things, then return home and fix the issues that forced you to leave. Completely admit I'm guessing. Zero idea if that's really what he means. Given his focus on oneness of humanity later in the segment, I'm not sure he intended "Europe for Europeans" to communicate approval of social isolation.

His Holiness: "Europe becoming a Muslim or African country?Impossible!" The "British" Broadcasting Corporation: "There's nothing wrong with that, is there?" Wow.
Anyone who has watched more videos of the Dalai Lama, especially his teachings would know the harmless meaning behind his words. 1. Europe for Europeans - when he gave this statement he meant that refugees flooding into another country even with that country accepting them will not solve the problem from its root causes. If you do not aim to fix the problem of the country where these refugees are fleeing from, there will always be an ongoing refugee issue. Hence, his suggestion by accepting, equipping refugees to help their own countries, and eventually hoping that they will go back to solve the root problems in their own countries. If that's not a smart suggestion, I don't know what is. 2. A female Dalai Lama is completely possible, but he was joking when he said that she has to be good looking. What he really meant is that he hopes that she will be more physically appealing than he is so she can gather a lot more attention than he was able to. This is a natural phenomenon especially in our modern society and he speaks from humility. There is nothing to be offended about. The irony is that the interviewer was asking the Dalai Lama about a much less tolerant society, when you can literally feel the intolerance in her attack-oriented interrogation. How do you expect to have a more tolerant society when you are constantly painting and labelling people and words with so much prejudice, without taking the time to investigate where this intolerance is coming from in the first place? How do you speak of tolerance when you allow yourself to be offended by these tiny things? This interview highlights so many issues of humanity and society, especially this self-created problems that the Dalai Lama himself is emphasising on so much. I really hope the interviewer and everyone who is offended takes the time to reflect on their thoughts. I wish everyone happiness. May peace be on all of us. 🙏
I felt that His Holiness deserved more respect from the reporter. It seemed like she kept trying to put him on he spot instead of really hearing what he was sharing. It seems like there's a huge miscommunication happening when the Dalai Lama said the female version should be more attractive... First of all it seemed mostly just to be a self-deprecating joke on his own appearance, as he explained someone once commented negatively on his looks. The other thing is I think most people are looking at this very differently than he is. When he was talking about this female Dalai Lama, most people imagine that he's talking about another person, but from his perspective he was talking about himself, because that would be his reincarnation. Now with that in mind, if the Dalai Lama today was a female and said "If only I was more attractive, then maybe I would be more influential!" People would laugh and find it a socially acceptable comment. That's all he was doing by talking about a future female Dalai Lama's appearance. It just takes an extra step of understanding and context.

Agree. And one notes that the interviewer's parents were obviously not refugees. Refugees are people who are forced to flee their country due to persecution or violence, e.g. from Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia etc.

Wow based on one person you draw a generalization of over a billion people who has many different subgroups within them.

Interviewer :what happens to your succession?
His holiness: thats not my business 😅😅
Just loved the way his holiness trolled her
I felt the interviewer lacks to comprehend the
essential message his holiness was trying to convey regarding migrations and
refugee crisis. Perhaps the misunderstanding might be attributed to some
language barrier. His holiness meant that the large number of refugees had to
flee their country unwillingly and in fear due to such horrific circumstances
compromising their safety and safety of their loved ones. If the safety, security and
standards of living conditions improves, many refugees may prefer living in
their own native country because many of whom are familiar with the language,
climate, food, culture etc. Therefore, those refugees
should be provided with resources to help them learn new knowledge and skills
in hopes of rebuilding and returning to their own country someday. However,
if any refugees or immigrant families are granted asylum by the European
countries where they have found peace, stability and happiness, then that’s
okay and they can live there as they please. There was no question about
whether those refugees and immigrants willing to stay in Europe should or should not be allowed to stay or was it wrong.
I truly hope the viewers do not take this in a negative sense. His holiness the Dalai Lama has
devoted all his life relentlessly serving others and promoting the value of
peace and harmony amongst each other; thus, he would never make such comment that would intentionally hurt others’ feelings.
May peace prevails!!
Tenzin Kalsang well said 👏🏽

This is a realist’s answer. You can’t expect to suddenly squeeze refugees in Eu indefinitely and not try solve the issue itself which is fanatic Islamist based violence in ME. Squeezing so many people will inevitably cause a upswing in hard Right sentiment as a counterbalance. And this will just continue to result in more tension and violence. Humanitarian solution is to equip these refugees with the skills and knowledge to rebuild their country for themselves. What’s wrong in saying that?
Thank you for saying this. I was thinking also that the Dalai Lama may have been misunderstood because of language barrier.

Wow.
fuck all of this. i'm tired of this shit. this whole world is going downhill...

She has absolutely no idea how to talk to this man. He is so spiritually tranquille he doesn't react at all to her strangely brusk and aggressive style. However, I was having difficulty following the flow and links between her questions. That said, I love how he speaks English with an Indian manner. It's so beautiful. And his little chuckles. He is playing with her. 😂
After that interview she should be fired.
I would love to see the unedited interview.
;-)
This interviewer is making me so angry
The Dalai Lama using non-violent attitude to tackle problems of life is the most badass living person in the world
I am sorry for her. Her life must be full of hater and self doubt. So sorry to see such a beautiful soul so lost. Rest in peace of your own heart.
Wow! This is not hard talk lady, go sip some juice and have some decency to talk to someone as great as the Dalai Lama!

Terrible interviewer, no respect for a man of great wisdom and tried to twist his words. Guy hasn't got a bad bone in his body.
She is such a bad interviewer. Her attitude, intentions and agenda at its very core was so …. I can’t even find a word to describe it. But the fact that His Holiness answers remained true and real . Thank you so much for making an appearance even after these predators viciously try to assault you and bring up topics that are so personal and traumatic like it’s duty. Long live your Holiness and Dalia Lama Tenzin Gyatso Khenoh.
