I've been physically angry at myself for months for forgetting about For Better or for Worse. It's the realest, most heartwarming, and wholesome show/strip I've ever seen in my life.

You talked about Ruby Gloom and Big Comfy Couch, those alone made the video great! But over all thanks for sharing your memories with us, love the vid!

I just discovered your video. Born, raised and still living in Ontario and you brought back a lot of memories for me. I was 10 when Teletoon first aired. Channel 45, a countdown Timer to when it would officialy start broadcasting. I watched lots of Teletoon, YTV and TVO. I loved The Raccoons, ReBoot, For Better or Worse, Ned’s Newt and Cybersix. He said he hated working on it cause the director was such a stickler (pun intended) for perfection. He'd draw a frame, and be told it was too clean, only to redraw it and be told it was too messy.
My Aussie husband grew up watching Stickin' Around! I was pretty excited when I found out, haha. I watched The Raccoons as a kid and liked it quite a bit! I agree that theme song is pretty boss.

kinda disapointed that most of these shows were before my time. Cant wait to see you talk about being Ian, thats got to be my favorite Canadian show of all time
Watching this video was a beautiful trip down memory lane, these shows helped me out during my families toughest spots. For me teletoon was on channel 50!
Great video, it's nice to see more people talking about Canadian stuff that isn't... the opposite of good. Also I often get Cyber Six confused with CyberSpace. I suppose while everyone in the comments are bringing up stuff they watched, I wanna ask y'all if you ever heard of a show called Harry and his Bucket Full of Dinosaurs. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but that show was really good, and I'd like some form of confirmation that I'm not one of the only ones that enjoyed it.

Great vid! I’m from America but lived in a boarder state, so I grew up with some Canadian channels as part of our package for a bit, now it’s not available anymore but when it was, Dudley the Dragon was a fav of mine [not a cartoon though lol]. I also really remember Stickin Around, that was funny. I didn’t realize I was watching it on a Canadian channel till I was older. As a preteen I did like 6teen and got into TDI in high school but those were on Nick and CN lol.

Fun Fact: I actually did some work at the studio where they made reboot. They make alot of barbie stuff currently but also I can't say much of what they actually make 😂
I remember a lot of these shows. Mostly the ones from YTV and Teletoon because those were the ones I watched all the time. I was too old for Treehouse by the time I got cable so I never watched it. But, man, do I remember Stickin' Around and other great shows you mentioned and showed in here.
I loved this. Brought back memories. I remember actually watching The Racoons in the late 90's on either the local CTV or Global channel, sometime before or after Inspector Gadget played I think. Good times.
I grew up with for better or for worse. The part I loved is that the characters aged at the same pace I did. It's a real trip seeing the comic and being able to attach where I was in life at that time.
i’m not very far in but this video is such a delight so far!! i never thought i’d see the day where people actually talked about treehouse but it’s such a trip down memory lane!! it’s also super fun to watch as a canadian animation student since? a buuuunch of my teachers worked on a lot of these shows so it’s honestly so fun to see our cartoons given the love they deserve! great video all around!! (ps, what’s the greatest canadian cartoon, and why is it Stickin’ Around) fun fact!! my teachers Sonya Carrey and Tracy Grant did animation work and production management on Stickin’ Around as well! if he worked on The Raccoons, i definitely want to pass this video onto my animation teacher, Hilary, who also did layout for it as well. Small world!
Finding this video sure brought back memories. Helped me remember that weird as hell wild wild circus company that freaked me out as a kid. Here's some shows you may remember. Monster by mistake and What about mimi. Did you ever play the sitekick thing on the ytv website?
I’m from uk and remember sticking round . My brother loved the raccoon and so did i when I caught reruns on boomerang. I vaguely remember cyber six but not much.
When I be at my babysitters early in the morning before school, raccoons would come on and even though I wasn’t crazy about it I would watch it still always thought the pink aardvarks were so weird
Ahhhhhhh. The nostalgia is hitting me real hard and I haven't even fully watched the video yet. This is why I always keep an eye on the channel when I can (I didn't hit the bell because it feels shameful). I'm only 3 minutes in and... it truly warms my heart that I remembered these shows.
This explains where all the cartoons we had on sky tv in the UK but nobody remembered what they were; as they faded into obscurity. When Cartoon Network started on sky tv in the UK (so its premier) it didn't have any original cartoons and showed existing shows and hannah barberra cartoons. The existing shows it started with were: The Moomins, The Racoons, the Adventures of Binky Bill and Tabiyooga the Dragon. But I always loved the Racoons when it came on tv, imo it was the best show next to the Moomins. I don't know why but it had that perfect balance of heroism and cool music for the time ^^
STICKING AROUND WAS MY FAVOURITE, no one else knows about it other than me... seems to be a fever dream i loved Jacob Two Two, Being Ian, Atomic Betty & Three Delivery
There's a lot of cartoons I remember but even more I forgot. This jogged that memory a little. Honestly though, Ruby Gloom is one of my favourite shows. Every time it was on TV I sat on the couch and watched it. Heck, I still watch it sometimes. It's so cute. I was never a fan of horror but I do love the paranormal and goth kind of style so Ruby Gloom was definitely a perfect match for me. I also remember a time where I couldn't sleep late at night so I put on tree house and there was credits or something rolling on screen. Idk, it was a really obscure memory. In other news, teletoon is actually removing it's night-time programming block. Edit: I actually forgot about this but my niece actually loved Big Comfy Couch before she got into Paw Patrol. She could even do the coo-coo dance.
Loved to watch The Raccoons when I was a kid as well as lot other Canadian shows you mentioned. I think many of them were more popular here in Europe than they were in the US.
Wow lots of nostalgia :) I remember the bits between Tree House (Completely forgot about it though) and Big Comfy Couch. YTV bits between shows too. Honestly if there's one thing I always felt Canadian TV did better than American TV It was the segments between shows. TVO kids I remember also nailed it. Sticking Around is incredible. I don't remember it as well as other shows but no doubt it was a huge part of my childhood. Aww Ruby Gloom is adorable. It's a bit after my time. I think I saw commercials for it but I didn't have cable anymore. But it's a shame I haven't heard much else about it before now because it sounds incredible. Oh for better or for worse. I don't have a ton of experience with it either but i didn't realise it was Canadian.
I grew up living a Canadian childhood in the USA since back then my family could not afford cable/dish TV we had an old attenna and an old fashion tv and I would watch qubo, pbs kids, and on Saturday morning Warner Bros kids.
Cybersix was and still is one of my most favorite shows! It makes me sad that it didn't get a season 2. I also loved watching Skyland! the magic system behind that show was so cool. I also remember code leoke but every time I found the show it was in french lol xD.
I've been physically angry at myself for months for forgetting about For Better or for Worse. It's the realest, most heartwarming, and wholesome show/strip I've ever seen in my life.

It’s been at least a decade since I’ve thought of that show, insane.

I personally found Canadian animation to be very hit or miss
Mainly because a lot of them can come across as bare bones, interchangeable, basic, and lacking in charm
That said I do have a lot of favorites that proves Canadian animation can definitely stand out or have endless potential
Kevin spencer is an adult cartoon that is told like a childrens bedtime story except it’s about a fucked up kid it’s really hilarious
Stickin around is the prime example of chaotic creativity as it took the idea of childrens drawings and let the imagination run wild
Total drama is a really good satire of reality tv (at least in its first three seasons)
Little bear has that nice atmosphere and bedtime story feel
Clone high I don’t think it needs any introduction
Undergrads is a really good animated series that focuses the life of 4 friends in college
Everyone in the show is boss here including nitz (the adult Doug funnie)
Being Ian took the idea of filmmaking and played around with its premise
Peep and the big wide world is another banger as this show feels like a newgrounds cartoon for children plus it took the idea of exploring the world and played around with it quite well
Captain Star is a really clever written animated space adventure
Arthur well let’s just say it’s pbs’s answer to the Simpsons
Pelswick is another banger and much like as told by ginger it also tackles some adult topics
6teen grew on me it’s pretty much mtv’s downtown with Johnny bravo humor and it worked (you could even say 6teen paved the way for total drama for better or for worse)
Johnny test while not one of my favorites anymore I still found some enjoyment
There are more but these are a couple of Canadian cartoons that appealed to me
I also can acknowledge the greatness of reboot since it played around with the premise of the world inside the computer quite well
But I need to give it a watch to experience it
18:00 whoa! Thank you for that mention of the actors who played a couple twice for different characters that was really educational!

Cyber 6 vlew my mind as a kid. I still love watching it.
Me to
i loved every single show in this video it was my childhood thank you man
I've been trying my absolute best not to cry while absorbing all this nostalgia being blasted at me! 😂
Thank you for this video!
Fun Fact: I actually did some work at the studio where they made reboot. They make alot of barbie stuff currently but also I can't say much of what they actually make 😂
Most recently they did that ReBoot: The Guardian Code series for Netflix. It was not very good.
Good times.
weirdproq1 I remember Inspector Gadget, Care Bears and Flying Rhino Junior High airing on Global back in the day.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 oh my goodness. I also remember watching those! Btw, Beastly was always my favorite character on Care Bears.
(ps, what’s the greatest canadian cartoon, and why is it Stickin’ Around)
fun fact!! my teachers Sonya Carrey and Tracy Grant did animation work and production management on Stickin’ Around as well! if he worked on The Raccoons, i definitely want to pass this video onto my animation teacher, Hilary, who also did layout for it as well. Small world!
Awesome! Totally share it, if you want! :)
Two words that describe the best time in my childhood: Teletoon Retro
I used to love watching Treehouse as a kid and the live-action Treetown segments were the best part…aside from when Mighty Machines came on!
For better or for worst was the only show to this date that did something no other shpw does, the characters aged with the years like we do.
3:18 Dr. Kamiko manor theme of pokemon XD gales of darkness! So nostalgic
Man this stuff takes me back. I honestly had forgotten about most of these things. But I have such fond memories of all these shows.
I'm always looking forward to TheCartoonGamer's new videos! There always so intellectually interesting. 🙂
The YTV voice guy is Edward Glen!
Great vid I love the little bit of Sly 1 mz Ruby level music made me really happy when I noticed.
I don't know why but it had that perfect balance of heroism and cool music for the time ^^
STICKING AROUND WAS MY FAVOURITE, no one else knows about it other than me... seems to be a fever dream
i loved Jacob Two Two, Being Ian, Atomic Betty & Three Delivery
Aww man I used to love Cybersix!
It looked amazing and was a ton of fun.
I remember Cybersix, when I was young staying up late at night and it was awesome, For Better or For Worse was good as well!
Nice job on this video. Cybersix is now on my watchlist. Looks awesome and exciting
Seems like it, from what I've seen in these comments.
Extremely hype to hear you talk about Ned's Newt
Now please don't mention her girlfriend (hummina-hummina-hummina)
Wow lots of nostalgia :)
I remember the bits between Tree House (Completely forgot about it though) and Big Comfy Couch.
The raccoons was a memory i forgot I had
Man that Pokémon Xd gale of darkness brought back some memories.
I didnt know they made a show of for better or worse i loved that comic I read it every week in the newspaper
I'm watching this again because both this video and the sequel are awesome.
Kit the Mystical Thank you!
I grew up living a Canadian childhood in the USA since back then my family could not afford cable/dish TV we had an old attenna and an old fashion tv and I would watch qubo, pbs kids, and on Saturday morning Warner Bros kids.
I met Carlos at Stampede last year, he’s so freaking nice!
Cybersix was and still is one of my most favorite shows! It makes me sad that it didn't get a season 2. I also loved watching Skyland! the magic system behind that show was so cool. I also remember code leoke but every time I found the show it was in french lol xD.
