      The symbol in the centre represents their Magic heritage because it looks like a Harry Potter broomstick with an enlarged thistle end (wizard countries tend to display magical imagery in rather ambiguous ways, see the broomstick disguised as a trident in the flag of Barbados and Argentina's 'golden snitch'). The red symbolises their Hogwarts house, Canadore, while the white represents the smokey remains of those who duelled for the country.

Since most who speak it also speak English they tend to speak English in public. You would probably have to find some small hamlets with a low population that have a large portion still speak French to be able to speak their. These are quite rare though so if you came here I wouldn’t expect you to be able to speak to any natives without you speaking French first.

    • @dzetaredfang7352
      @dzetaredfang7352 7 лет назад +11

      The war wasn't about Great Britain regaining the States at all. It was about the USA being pissed that Canada was claiming unclaimed land that the US believed they were entitled to, and with the bulk of the British forces dealing with the war over in Europe, saw the perfect oppurtunity to attack and try to invade the Canadas in order to annex it.
      Fun fact, they lost. Attacking first and instigating a war does not make your "protection" of your current territory a victory, because by starting that war with a goal in mind, and failing to achieve said goal, you sustain a loss, and to be honest, a pretty big one. Not only was the White House burned down twice during the war, but had the Brits not been so forgiving when it came to signing the peace treaty, Michigan and the Ohio Valley, which were taken over by the British at the time, would be Canadian soil belonging to the Natives. Notice how the war stopped not too long after the British laid their war in Europe to rest? That's because the Americans new that with the added back-up, they would be beaten back far worse than they were at the time, and didn't want to risk losing their land.
      So no, America didn't win because the British didn't conquer the States, they LOST because they tried to annex Canada and had their asses handed to them with some of the most humiliating defeats on record being lost. They had a far larger army, and it didn't help, even in the first battle (which was mostly fought by the local farmers and citizens trying to protect their homeland).

The national tournaments only have about 100 people and the girls are like 30 player in total lmao. Being a girl and playing the sport is like playing against toddlers. The only problem is like the sport costs like golf, extremely expensive and everyone is super competitive and they all wanna join the Ivey league.

    There are at least 2 other countries that should have been not only mentioned but explained in the friendship part of the video. Namely, Germany and The Netherlands. Canada has very large immigrant populations of these two countries. During WW2, Canada liberated The Netherlands and also allowed the Dutch royal family to live in Canada. To this day, the two countries share a very close friendship. Some people may be surprised to learn that outside of Germany, the largest Oktoberfest is in Kitchener, Ontario (formerly Berlin) and surrounding cities in Waterloo Region, attracting over 700,000 visitors annually. As a Canadian, I myself celebrate Oktoberfest every year, and it is a very good time (highly recommend it).

    Most Canadians do not know their country's history. Canada was discovered by the Portuguese navigator Corte Real who named it the land of CANADA, which was the name of the Corte Real family farm near Tavira, Algarve. The place CANADA still exists after 600 years, google maps: CANADA Algarve.
    When the Venetian navigator Caboto at the service of England arrived in Canada, there were already Portuguese fishing colonies ...

      Corte arrived in newfoundland in 1500. While Jean Cabot arrived in 1497, Jean Cabot was the one who actually discovered canada if we forget about vikings being there in the first place.
