+Clement Ng Actually, there isn't even a universal writing system for Chinese. There's the Traditional writing system and the Simplified writing system. China and Singapore use the Simplified writing system, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau use the Traditional writing system. Despite this, China has been using the Traditional writing system for over a thousand years, until around the 1950s. +Κουρασμένος Καπετάνιος I think it's interesting. About the languages, mandarin, Cantonese, and other folks accent in China, I want to say that Chinese people use the same characters to write for hundreds of years or even thousands of ( I mean the same characters in different areas but not different time). For a business man who needs to travel from province to province in China, he may speak with most accents. It's just a normal example to tell Chinese people can easily learn the accent which is spoken in other areas, though the accents sound different. And the reason of it is exactly there's not that much differences among the accents, everyone can know this point after really learn the accents.
It's not just accents, there are different language family across China though. You can see in the video "Zhuang language is closer to the Thai and Lao language". Most dialects are dying language because it lack of applications, it barely develop delicate writing and grammar system, and the languages affect each other(especially when a language prevails), you can find that Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese... are all have the remnants of Mandarin, so some dialects may seem familiar with Mandarin sometimes, but it's also pretty different.
@@windwoods2849 thank you, you make me think more. and I just found my English so bad I wanted to say "dialect" but not "accent", I'm sorry if somebody gets wrong idea after reading my comment.🙃
There's not much difference? Can you speak in all dialects or what? You only think that bc you are exposed to them. A hongkonger usually have a hard time learning mandarin bruh. So no, they are not that similiar.

Actually, there isn't even a universal writing system for Chinese. There's the Traditional writing system and the Simplified writing system. China and Singapore use the Simplified writing system, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau use the Traditional writing system. Despite this, China has been using the Traditional writing system for over a thousand years, until around the 1950s.

That's like learning American English then going to the UK. I learned their way of speaking eventually.

There's not much difference? Can you speak in all dialects or what? You only think that bc you are exposed to them. A hongkonger usually have a hard time learning mandarin bruh. So no, they are not that similiar.

as an Mongolian, i have to say Chinese protected our culture than ourselves......
And Chinese people in a way really like Mongolian people, even thought in the history tried to kill each other, lol.
I would say 'Outer Mongolians had much more influences from Russia' while inner Mongolians are mixed with Chinese culture. That is due to the invasion of Mongolians in history and became a dynasty of China call Yuan. It's a pity that mongalians don't write the traditional mongolian in vertical way.....
