    8:17 What I do after making a selection and applying smoothing or whatever whatever else, is to choose Contract, by 1 pixel. It brings your selection in just by that amount, which means less cleaning up around the eges, because no path of a selection will ever be perfect unless you're zoomed waaaaay in and are creating the path yourself.

    I have this same scanner, but I do not see any of the setting options that you are showing. Any suggestions? My scans come out looking washed-out and the colors are not as saturated as the original painting.

    Big help ! At the end of your video, you placed your image in a frame against the wall. Did you do that from a stock image? Or did you photograph the frame and then drop your image into the frame? I want to re-create that look.

    Thank you for the video! Very informative) The only thing I'm very interested in is whether the texture of medium-grained paper is visible when scanning (because it interferes a lot)

    • @SandraEide
      @SandraEide  2 года назад

      Hi! I tend to use hot press which is a smoother grained paper. I do notice more texture when scanning cold press or thicker grained paper but I don't find that my scans loose quality with V600, but the texture grain is more noticeable.

      Oh no! Keep a look out on Amazon if you have access to it. They would sell out often and I had to wait for a few weeks until they came back in stock.

    Hi, Do you know the difference between the two mode choices: Photo Mode and Document Mode? It scans a smaller surface area on document mode and I can't seem to increase it on Photo mode. I want to know if the quality is retained in Document mode. Thanks!

    Can you explain what is the point of getting 4800 DPI scanner if I can scan only in 600 dpi?

    • @SandraEide
      @SandraEide  6 месяцев назад

      On the Epson scanning settings on your computer you can change the mode to photo mode which will give you all of the DPI settings. In photo mode you can scan up to 9600 dpi using the V600 and in document mode you can scan up to 1200 dpi. This video is a bit older and I hadn't played with all of the settings yet but have found out the higher dpi capabilities later on. However for my prints I still usually only use 600 dpi at most and find that to be a great setting for me. Hope that helps. (:

    Thank you very much for the comparison at 4:28. Very helpful. At 10:49 I noticed you keep your color profile as sRGB, which is not a printing profile. Do prints saved with this profile come out close to what you see on screen? When I made giclee prints on a pigmen ink jet printer from sRGB files (shot on Nikon with a sharp lens), they came out dull and dark. This is the reason I want to buy a scanner to scan my watercolours instead of using my DLSR camera. Hence the question. Thank you

      Hi, I think it's hard to determine because different ways of processing your images and printing is going to effect the way it turns out. So far CMYK does produce a better more accurate colored print when using professional services. However because i sell my prints digitally for customers to print themselves, RGB is sometimes more accessible with home printers and cheaper printers like walgreens/walmart etc. But the drawback is that the color does not come out quite the same as on screen, I sometimes have to up the levels in photoshop to brighten the RGB images before printing at home. It would be hard to say whether your camera is picking up the colors the same as a this scanner would. I think part of the difference is that the scanner is really brightly lit and color corrects while being scanned.

    Hi Sandra! Thank you for the video. I’ve been thinking of purchasing the scanner, but read reviews complaining about the compatibility with MAC OS. Did you have problema with that? Thank you

      Hi Licia, I experience the same! This video is very helpful (thanks Sandra!) and it looks like Sandra is using a Mac herself, but still I have doubts buying the Epson V600 scanner because of the reviews stating this scanner is not compatible with Mac... so I follow your question with interest :-)

      Hi! I'm so sorry I'm responding to this so late. I did also hear people have issues using this scanner with Mac, however I use a Mac and was able to set up the certain driver it needed to use the scanner and it works perfectly. I'll link where you can download the driver. epson.com/Support/Scanners/Perfection-Series/Epson-Perfection-V600-Photo/s/SPT_B11B198011?review-filter=macOS+10.15.x

    This is the worst way of cleaning up artwork. You are constantly destroying pixels...You will notice it once you are scaling the image up.
