Y’all notice that no one in the remembrance touches Anastasia? When she wraps around her father in a spin her hand is gliding right above his. Her parents never touch her and at one moment their hands go right through her. She is trying to search for the memory and it’s just out of reach and she is not able to find it just yet. Genius.

The real question is, will they modify the movie to depict what actually happened with Anastasia?
This story gets even more tragic as time progresses, new information found within the past 5 years had evidence that proved she didn't make it.
Although, it would be interesting to see the response of today's children watching the movie with or without the new information.

I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I listen to this song, I can picture the movie in my mind. I even remember the movements and the dancing she did before she bow down before the image of her father and the kiss on the forehead from him. This song just so great and love it so much.
I was waiting for when her sisters gave her flower necklace like in the movie it's so cute. The musical is still really good but I wish she had more interaction with everyone, more running around and dancing like the movie version but I guess it's hard to sing well while dancing at the same time
@@oo8962 It is difficult, but most Broadway actors are trained to dance _and_ sing. It just depends on what the director/s and choreographer/s decide to do.

I wish we never truly found out what happened to Anastasia, and we could have gone on hoping that the myths were true. Reality is too horrible.

@@humanperson3733 when Lenin was uprising against the royal family he captured them and then it got to dangerous for the movement to leave them alive and it isn’t known if Lenin ordered the royals family’s killing to the guards but there were rumors that Anastasia made it out and she was only pretending to be dead and a guard had mercy on her and helped her out and then when the grandma (the only one of the family still alive) heard these rumors she said she would pay anyone who could bring the princess back to her and this one lady (Anna Anderson I think was her name) knew answers to the questions the grandma asked that only Anastasia would know and she lived out the rest of her life with the grandma happy but when dna was a thing they found like a burnt body or something somewhere in Russia near where the family was being held and they tested the body and it was Anastasia’s so she didn’t make it out or live and nobody knows how Anna Anderson knew the answers to those questions

The musical performance is excellent but the effects are a huge disappointment. The costume change NEEDS to be there. I loved too in the film how her sisters float down to greet Anya and one of them places her pearls on her neck...

@@amiranassar6708 I suppose they could do what Frozen on Broadway did with Let It Go and do a dress change right then and there, and then when the song ends the theatre goes dark, giving Anya enough time to change back into the coat and everything before the lights go on and we move onto the next scene.
@@KeepCalmContemplateYourChoices I think that they would but the scene doesn't end after the song ends. After this song, Anya has a few lines of dialogue with Dimitry and then the scene ends. They'd need her back in her street clothes for the rest of that scene.

@@meginmd maybe if they had a more form fitting and flowing dress instead of a ball gown it would fit under a trench coat. Take 9ff the coat when the song starts and pick it up and put it back on as the song is ending

I had goosbumps and i cried at the same time...this performance feels like that i am the lost princess of russia that after so many years finds out who she really is
i think the solution to the quick change everyone wants would be having a dancer in the anastasia gown switching with Christy during the song, with Christy singing offstage and the dancer lip syncing onstage, and when the Tsars leave, the lights go out and then Christy goes back onstage with the normal costume of act one.

They did a really good transition at the Macy's Day Parade performance. It would have been cool to do something like that but getting her back into the day wear may be an issue
Broadway does a lot of quick changes, they could’ve done velcro and had the girls help her while the choreography covered her. The transition back into her coat would’ve been more difficult but I’m sure they could’ve figured something out. It was my single biggest disappointment with this show tbh
Beautiful singing voice with great feeling but I wished whole thing was bigger and she wore the yellow dress of the movie. Maybe make her disappear a bit of stage so she changes outfit and we can see her with beautiful dress of the film

I just got done watching the musical. It was awesome. Dmitry and Anastasia were my favorites by far. My friend thinks Jake Levy is cute and she's never called anyone cute before.
I'm upset someone recorded this, but I'm also glad I can rewatch this with the original cast. For me, Christy and Derek ARE Anya and Dimitri. 😍 Such great chemistry, overall fantastic cast, costumes, music numbers, set design, ahhhhh!😍😍😍😍 So glad I saw this play in NY with the original cast.

So glad I got to see this on broadway before it closed. It was truly magical and one of my top favorite musicals in the last century.
look, literally, not everything in the film should be in the musical. the costume change adds nothing to the narrative, it's too much effort for such a short scene.

When I was a child, this Disney movie was one of my favorite movie.. But know, knowing the tragic history and what truly happened to Anastasia and her family, I can’t help but feel sad and devastated for her and her family

Wow, amazing voice!!! She sang that sooooo well. Much better than in original Anastasia movie. I love it. Her features remind me of Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart.

Actually, I just watched both versions & I like THIS version better than the Thanksgiving one, it's more realistic to her story, she doesn't know yet who she is, so, it stands to reason why she'd not change into her gown. The only way they could've done both in the 3 minutes is maybe if they had found a "look alike" to dance as Anastasia in the gown & go off stage before she finished her song, like the look alike was posing as her "memory".

I cried so hard when I saw this live with the tour crew (Lila and Stephen) but watching this with the king and queen, I cried again.
I got to see this live and OH MY GOSH this scene gave me goosebumps.....I also maybe have been like-6 months pregnant at the time and VERY emotional seeing my favorite movie of all time in front of my on stage.....there was a lot of crying. Haha
