He got kicked out for being gay, yet he joined the Marines, went to Yale AND NYU and now is in the film industry. His mother thought he was worthless. It makes no sense to me. Everyone is a diamond in the rough. Also, a dear friend of mine who has passed, was in the Army during the late 50’s and he was gay. He told me about how he had to meet people in secret and how stressful it was. He was a wonderful man.
This movie was so real and heartfelt. A24 is my favorite film studio these days. They know how to seek out the best story tellers and give them a platform.
