Mine will be here tomorrow. Really good video. Most reel reviews on here are pretty useless but you’ve provided some great info, specifically in how it compares to other similar reals.
I just got a curado mgl 150. It's only my 3rd bait caster have a diawa lexa300 & Lew's speed spool. My other reels have exterior dials on both sides. I'm not used to having to open to adjust brakes. It cast's like a dream
Great video. I'm very excited for this reel for its line capacity, weight, and well... I dig the color. It's nice to have more choices, and in cases I'd still buy the 200k to balance a particular rig out. I look forward to the next video. Keep the Faith and Tight Lines!
used it for 6 month now.. handle 6.7lbs mangrove jack so easy, drag is smooth and working perfectly compared to my "melting" scorpion dc and curado dc drag..
I just took 3 of my Calcutta 150 to my reel repair guy! All three lasted over 10 years. I have 4 others still in action everything is on 7’ lightning rods. Love the combination! That being said, I am getting older and thinking about upgrading to the Carado 150. My reel guy said it’s a great reel in every way except for the durability of the micro gearing. Said they will wear out regularly. He told me if they would have put the Tatula gearing into the Carado 150 that it would be the best reel ever made! What is yours or anyones opinion on the micro gearing on this reel!? Any opinions?
I own 2 of these (xg,hg) Great drag and light weight I have been fishing these reels strictly in saltwater in the upper Texas coast … I love them … honestly the only thing I would change is the color 🤷🏽♂️ all black would be nice imho
"Awesome content as always, you should do a review on the new for 2022 Shimano Tranx 150 I just ordered one and I can't wait to get it and put it Thur it's paces"
@417Keto I only fished with them on one trip. But both feel great. Love how you can cast far with the 150. The dc also does great just haven't got use to it. Being my first DC
I have 13 Shimano baitcasters and every single one has came out of the box with the drag loosened all the way. Weird that you say you experience the drag tightened...
I'll bet that palms like a Lews pro ti type size. I love paling those small reels, especially since I have arthritis and my hands hurt with a larger reel. Unfortunately I love fishing big glidebaits, so I use big reels alot, so when I'm not using a glide bait, I like using tiny reels like an Aldebaren or Lews pro ti...this should be nice!
I know you can run non symmetric brake shoes, you have proven it, and people on TTour confirm also. Still erks me though to run one or 3 brakes, with this new Curado you can run 3 symmetrical brakes though (OCD win).
The c bfs is a grat rell, but i like the aldebaran little bit more 😀 Is the metanium mgl still the best Casting reel, what do you think? You own so much reels and you can rate that best. Thank you and have a nice time 👍🏻 🎣
what size line do you use...because my 200k gets line caught near side plate and thumb bar gap all time on left side...i run it loose and 10 lb line...heavier line no issue...thanks....hate that reel because of that
Would you please do a comparison on low profile 300 series baitcasters. The Kastking Kapstan has taken over the stripper and musky guide boats. They’ve literally dropped all the Diawa and Shimano as well as Abu and Lews. I have been a Kastking, Abu and Lews fan for a long time. KK has changed the game for me.
Yes, if you can handle the 1oz. weight difference and the extra $150 bucks. If you're going with high resistance baits or pitching and flipping heavy cover, go with the Bantam. If you want an excellent all-around reel for the money the Curado 150mgl HG can't be beat.
@@Ptro1 yeah I was thinking the same thing. I have the 21 scorpion DC which has the MGL spool and was debating whether it would be worth getting this 150 MGL.
I love it.. I got all the mets', aldas',Chonarchs, and I', K's curados. I can make room for it on my rods. Looks better breaking with 6 arms and light spool. Maybe one of the overall better performing reels from light to heavy range lures. Will get it on my ALX chatterbait rod for a 6 speed moving my chronarch mgl over to my expride.
I put the dark arb bearing in my curado 70 mgl and it casted much better. What bearings are on the 150 mgl? My curado 70 mgl box says arb bearings they weren't.
Great video. I’ve been looking everywhere, can you tell me the handle diameter? I’m looking to swap my JDM Mets to a bigger handle and the color of these match the color of the metanium handle.
I received my Curado MGL 150 about a week ago. I only compared it with my Daiwa Elite. I was curious because one of my go too reels is my Lews Tournament Pro. I had to replace my line on the lews but in between out of curiosity from watching your videos my lews spool weighed 12 grams with the bearing. Of course my scale isn’t as precise but I weighed the Curado MGL 150 spool and it also weighed in the 12 gram range. If the average bearing weight is 1.5 grams as you stated that would place my Tournament Pro spool in the lower 11 gram range. Lews is one of my go to reels for lighter baits. Based on your emphasis on spool weights that would make sense.
so what do you like more? the elite or mgl? i have a ct and just ordered the mgl to throw on a rebellion rob i just ordered.. excited about comparing the two reels but might be having slight buyers remorse already. was deciding between the mgl and the sv tw. and it woulda been nice to throw a daiwa reel on the rebellion.
@@suchgr8hieghts I trust the 2020 SV when skipping and throwing into the wind. You will be happy with either the Curado MGL or the Daiwa Elite. I have two of each. I also have 2 2020 SV’s. I like them all. Curado MGL seemed a little smoother casting and the Daiwa seemed a little smoother on the retrieve. Casting distance are similar. If I was to buy a new one I would go with the Curado because it’s 50 dollars cheaper. Curado to me takes a little longer to set up. On a Daiwa you can set the external dial at 10 and almost forget about for just about any weight of lure and is easier to control when the wind is blowing. I prefer the 2020 SV when I know I’m going to be trying to skip. When it comes to casting Curado MGL and the Daiwa elite is almost a toss up. I use all 3 of those reels to throw lures lighter than 1/2 ounce.
Can you please give the advice on which reel to buu for around 100 to 200 dollars. I have watched your tests on the curado, scorpion and the oposing daiwas. I am not sure what to buy. I want one reel that can light as well as heavier lures with strong casting performance. I ordered the piscifun phantom from aliexpress but i need another reel. Not sure if dc is better than mgl. PLEASE advise brother.
This Curado MGL 150 might fit the bill for that. I know there might be some Lews out there that have light spools under $200 but I dont have any experience with them
the Chronarch MGL is one awesome and underrated reel. I wont know until I do the casting test for the Curado which Ill like better. The Chronarch is noticeably smoother though
The Aldebaran BFS or the 23' Calcutta Conquest. If you're new to BFS there are cheaper option's from Shimano: The Curado BFS or the JDM SLX BFS. I use those two for the heavier side of BFS. while the Aldebaran and Conquest are more for Trout/ Panfish and smaller Bass.
Would love to use a tatula, however the way it's shaped makes it impossible for me to use comfortably with my smaller hands. Curados are shaped much better for me, the 70 mgl being my favorite reel I've ever used. Probably going to scoop this one now too

a CI4 coresolid body would be very interesting.

Rn I’m thinking about buying the 150 but also thinking about buying the 70 and bfs model
Just depends on what weight baits you really throw, 70 is more "ML" as in maybe 1/8-1/2 oz and 150 id guess is more 3/8-1 oz
I picked one up last weekend. Also got a SLX Dc xt. 😊

When you get the curado 200 m do a shoot out curado k vs curado 200 m vs curado 150 mgl
For the life of me you have to do this reel against that tatula sv 103
It would completely crush the Tatula sv
