    Sir, I have a Curado 151 MGL , I wanna change the gear ratio from 6.2:1 to 7.4:1, so can I use the drive gear and pinion gear from Curado DC151HG ?
    Are these gears swap able?
    Thank you for answering

      Wow. I honestly don’t know man I’ve never thought to try that before. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 If it were me I would simply just sell the 6.2:1 on eBay, and buy myself an HG. Actually that’s a lie, I would probably keep the 6.2:1 for certain techniques and also buy the HG. 😎😂🤙🏽

    Awesome video! I need to service all my Curado 151's, my 71, my 201K and my 151DC. On a couple of my Curado's I feel a slight clicking when reeling. Hopefully it just needs some proper lubercation and it is not a bad bearing. Guess I will find out. I have noticed and it states on the Curado instructions, when opening and closing and locked and unlocking the side plate cover you need to loosen the tension on the brake dial. If it is tight it makes it especially hard to close the side plate cover and lock it. I see you did a video on the K. What about the 71 and the DC? Plan on ordering the kits in your links. Thanks again!

    Great video. What tool would you use to remove the roller clutch bearing/one way bearing/anti reverse bearing? Normally, I'd just use an appropriate sized socket to push/punch it out. However, the side plate lip design only allows the socket to push against the plastic cage of the bearing (instead of the metal housing), which will only result in the plastic cage being removed and sending springs and rollers all over the floor. The only answer I've been able to find is "Send it to Shiamno."

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  Год назад

      Thanks man 👊🏽😃 Ya know I haven’t had to replace that on this exact reel so I can’t say for sure, but anytime I’ve had to replace a one way roller I just pop it out by pressing it hard with my finger. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Usually they only are able to come out of the one side. This reel I was under the impression that it would just push out towards the inside of the case like I said at 17:40 are you saying it doesn’t push through in that direction either??? 🤔

    • @RubenakaChupacabra
      @RubenakaChupacabra Год назад

      @WhereWeWild yes, the bearing comings out on the gear side/inside of the reel only. But the way the side plate is, only the plastic cage of the bearing is exposed, so that's all you have to push against. If the bearing is a tight fit, then you'll just push out the plastic cage. Even the Shimano parts website states that bearing is not user replaceable. None of my reels have required a replacement yet, but I'd like to be prepared before they do. Thank you for your time.

    Just my opinion, all bearing support such as under drive gear shaft, under clutch cam retainer, small bearing at tension would be more protective if you covered with grease instead only oil due to those bearing is very easy to get rust. Not disclaimer just opinion. But nice video anyway

    I have the same reel and it’s started making a slight grinding noise before I stopped using it for winter, I started using it again and now it’s making a constant grinding noise when I turn the handle. I watched your video and took it apart, re greased and oiled and put it back together the same and the grinding is still there. The reel is practically new. I bought it last July and put it away in October. This is my first shimano reel, I normally use Lews. I can’t find anything that’s wrong with it. Could it be the main bearings? Should I try that next?🙄

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  7 месяцев назад

      Well that’s no fun. 😕 Hmm, yeah I mean I would definitely test and inspect all the bearings and gears make sure they’re all good, no damage to them, all are smooth and quiet, all cleaned, greased and oiled including the worm gear. Make sure there is no sand or dirt stuck anywhere sometimes that’s all it takes. I’d just go through the whole thing part by part like that until I found the problem. Shimano reels are great and the MGL 150 especially.

      It feels like the drag plate is the issue when everything’s sandwiched together and you slide the metal peices in a circle around that plate you can hear it grinding and resistance. I don’t know the correct terms for it but when I was turning the big spindle that everything and the handle goes on I could also feel it grinding while turning it, I greased those 2 connecting gears but it still didn’t fix it. It seems like it’s still further in the reel. I put everything back together and when the drag is all the way out, no grinding noise but the spool won’t turn, like theirs too much resistance. As soon as you tighten the drag the grinding happens when you turn the reel. I worked on it for 4 hours last night till 2:30 am lol. I’m at my wits end, I’ve never taken a real apart this deeply before. Any suggestions or ideas?

    • @shannonmctighe4369

      For reference what I’m talking about is around 27 minutes in your video.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  7 месяцев назад

      @@shannonmctighe4369 Well definitely take that hidden bearing out I refer to around 27 minutes and check it. I really should have taken it out in this video. Also with the drag system make sure everything is seated properly like how that first clutch ratchet is squared and keyed and sits down all the way first, then the small drag washer and so on how I show to put it all back together. Also when putting the drag star and handle back on make sure that drag star is completely pressed down tight and keep tension on it while putting on the handle. If you like you can shoot some videos or pictures and dm them to our Instagram and I can maybe spot something it’s at wherewewild. It can be very tedious sometimes but you always find the issue one way or the other.

      @andrescruz9448 7 месяцев назад

      If it didn't sound like that when you first got it and it hasn't been exposed to salt water, it might actually be sand or something stuck in your worm gear for your line guide. I would tear all that apart, strip clean, re-grease, and test again. If was grinding when you first got it then I would say your main gear or pinion gear but since it developed after a seasons of use and you didn't notice any broken teeth when you cleaned it out, it's gotta be something with your worm gear and pawl. The other place to check is where the lips of your spool rides could be rubbing on your frame or dirt trapped in those channels.

    I just got this reel out on the water and I’ve had issues with the drag slipping. Unless I have it tighten down all the way, every time I go for a hook set, I’m getting slipping. Is there something I need to tune up on this reel or is this a common issue?

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  4 месяца назад +1

      Hmm well ya know I guess you do have to keep it pretty darn tight really to set super hard on it. I’ve had that happen on a spinnerbait hit but I just had it a little too loose. Sometimes I’ll keep reels one or two clicks tighter than I’d like it to be and then back it off once I set the hook. Definitely would take it apart and make sure everything is cool though, make sure there isn’t too much grease on the washers and stuff like that. 🤙🏽

    Have this same reel and recently had some issues with it locking up. I adjusted the brake pads, sorry if that’s not term for 6 pads that move up and down on spool and also adjusted brake knob and now I can get reel to turn correctly after putting back together. It’s like it’s locked and I can’t figure what’s going on although I know it should be an easy fix. Anyone with same issue or any advice? • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  8 месяцев назад

      I would rip it apart and just make sure everything is put back together correctly just follow this video step by step if you have to. Something might not be sitting flush enough or slightly off and that makes all the difference. Also before you take it apart just maybe check if the tension knob is just cranked up way too tight. 🤙🏽

      This video shows how to take apart and put back together all aspects of the drag system… 🤷🏻‍♂️ Loose? 🤔 What exactly do you mean by that? Like the actual drag star is loose? Or like the drag is slipping on fights? I would just watch how I’m putting it all back together and make sure yours is going back together the exact same way. If the star is loose your tension washers might not be sitting back to back correctly, or maybe you didn’t push the star down enough to sit it properly before putting the handle on.
