I have been interested in buying one of these for the last two years. Just haven’t been able to justify the cost. 😞 I guess good fortune comes to those who patiently wait. 😂 Glad I stumbled across this video today.
Lol thanks for watching. It's a little difficult to hype up reel repair, but sounds like it's almost as good as a bedtime story.... so at least it's good for something. More vids to come.
I am amazed that people don't understand you never need to adjust the brake on a Curado DC reel. In fact, it will mess your reel up by changing the factory setting. If you do a You tube search for tackle warehouse and Curado DC overview, the Shimano rep will make this very clear. You also still need to lightly thumb the DC reel when casting.
I just got curodo dc a week ago it’s a 7.41 gear ratio , but I’m asking you if think something is wrong or it how I adjusted it. It will cast a mile but when I reel it in it just feels different then all my other reels , is there any adjustment that does anything to when you’re reeling it in ?? U’d be a big help if you let me know?
Thanks for checking out the video. Tough question to answer, since it's a personal concern. I can tell you there's no significant difference between your reel, in terms of adjustments, than most other quality baistcasters. Thus, if it feels funny to you on the retrieve, you may want to consider returning it for another. Hope this helps. Spread the word about the channel.
Hey I had to tear it down because my drive shaft got dethreaded so the handle nut wasn’t screwing on and staying it kept poping of now I got my new one from shimano and now I put it back together and the handle is spinning only backwards it’s not spinning forwards anymore idk why any thoughts?
@@TSGReelServicegot it thanks but now my spool looks to be in reverse when I click the release button it’s hard to get the line out like how it’s supposed to be when it’s up and when the button is up the line just comes out like how it’s supposed to be when the release button is down so it’s like it’s in reverse also my drag star is harder to turn so idk what part went in wrong
Fairly new to baitcast reels. Would it be safe to say that I would need to change the black washers if my drag doesn't work well? If I wanted a tight drag, I have to turn it all the way up on my reel. Even then, my line could still be pulled a little bit without much force.
Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. Not necessarily... There may just be an excessive amount oil/liquid in your drag stack and it'll need to be cleaned. If the drags are stuck, it's easier to pry them loose and replace them than to try and save them. Be sure to clean the metal surface areas well, if this is the case.
To the maker of this video, I really don’t want to sound disrespectful, but this video could have been much more informative if you had done several things, such as: Point out the importance of downloading a schematic of the reel before taking it apart. As you were disassembling the reel, you were just throwing the pieces out of frame. Especially for some new to doing this, it is vitally important to lay each piece out in order as you remove them. This makes it much easier to reassemble because you know the order that everything goes back. I have been servicing Shimano reels for over 45 years, and I still do that. A couple of times it seemed like you weren’t familiar with this reel before you took it apart. When you took the Star drag nut off, you said the “washer” should not have been there. That part is actually called the “Star drag spacer” and definitely should be there! Also, when you took the cast control knob off, you said, “Be careful, there’s a spring under there”. This model reel does not have a spring under there. Granted, some other Shimano’s do have a spring there. All in all it was a good video, but it could have been a great video with a little planning beforehand. ALLWAYS GET THE SCHEMATIC!!
I have the SLX DC is the disassembly the same for it? I clean, and maintain all my own reels, but I've been a little nervous about taking this DC reel apart as all the rest of my gear is Lew's and there are hundreds of vids to show those.
Thanks for watching! I haven't looked at schematics, but they should be similar. Print out the schematics, use this video and take pictures of your reel along the way to aid you, just in case you get stuck somewhere in the reassembly process. You can also spend an afternoon taking baby steps, like removing the side cover and then putting it back together, then removing the side cover and a couple of gears and then putting it back together, etc., until you get more and more comfortable with the reel.
Thanks for watching! Not easily explained. You can keep an eye out for the next baitcaster I do for an idea of how to do it or take it to your local repair shop.
Thanks for checking out the video. I'm not currently taking requests. If you have specific questions regarding the reel, feel free to ask and I'll answer if I can. Thanks.
My shimano curado dc fishing reel also has one. I use it for fishing regularly and disassemble it regularly and never lose parts and never reassemble it wrong like this .. What I can see on your fishing reel is the wrong assembly and the lifting spring parts. The keyboard disappeared and the star brake assembly was wrong .. hahaha🤣🤣🤣 (audience from Thailand) 🇹🇭
Dc means digital control, the dc parts is on the side plate and he was working on the gears. All dc reels will still have gears to turn the spool but the dc is the part that corrects the spool from spinning too fast. 0:43 is the side plate or the dc brakes.
This is very late but i pulled it apart because the bail doesnt fully close when i reel in. When i opened it i didnt see anything that seemed to be out of place or broken if anyone has any tips it would be huge.
Thanks for checking out the video. Could be as simple as debris blocking something, your pinion gear could have at the bottom causing it not release all the back down, could nicked and the same result when meshing with the main gear, the release lever or the trigger arm at the bottom the main gear could be worn, etc.
Thanks for checking out the video. They're difficult to flatten unless you're always leaving the drag locked down. In that case, you may have been better off purchasing new tension washers versus trying to reshape them yourself. However, if you did it and they work, congrats and tight lines!
Thanks for watching. If you're having trouble with your reel and are not comfortable working on it yourself, you should take it to your local repair shop.
@@TSGReelServicewhat did you mean by that cause my drag is hard to tighten and my line is coming out when the release button is up but when it push the line release button line is harder to pull but still slowly coming out so it’s like it’s in reverse and not tightened tight maybe I put to much grease on both sides of the washers

Hey can you make a video of taking it apart and reassemble because I try fixing mine and i lost track of how it all goes back 🙁
Stay tuned.

Where did those washers go I can’t get the handle back on now
Hey Ryan. Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Read the title again.... and then take it to your local repair shop.
I wish you did a reassembly of it
I get you, brother.... hard to please everyone. Hopefully, what you can see in the vid can help you.
