      Bayou Reels I’m sorry to here that, i love your videos. What kind of tool is the pin pusher tool and were can I get one? Also what kind of grease do you use?

      @@johnbrasher6678 BassZone pin pusher via eBay. They come from Japan so all shipping will take awhile. I would order 2 or 3 in case one would break, I would have a backup. I use all kinds of grease, just depends on the reel and where it is being used. I use Cal's or Shimano drag grease for the drag washers. Penn grease or Daiwa space age greaser for the rest of the real. DO NOT GREASE BEARINGS. Only oil on bearings, and half a drop. More oil will slow the bearings down, and grease will make them not spin at all.

    I have several Curado reels including a 200BSF that was jerked out of the boat, sat in saltwater for a couple hours and I caught the cork handle 75 yards up the bank after moving to fish closer to rocks. It didn't have a fish on it but that was probably 16 years ago and it's still going strong. I used your video to go deeper than I normally do. I am accustomed to replacing my drag washers and bearings, but the other disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and reassembly was a bit more intimidating. Thanks to you I have do all of it to the level you did. I have probably 40 reels and I service them all myself, from ultralight spinning reels to offshore 2 speeds and everything in between. It's a great past time if you have the patience.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks so much for this video. I was scared to death to take apart my reels. I did it, replaced original bearings with ceramic and put in new carbontex drag washers. I couldnt have done it without this video. MUCH APPRECIATED!

    Your video was easy to follow and I really appreciate the way you explained it all. Perfect recording! I can’t thank you enough.

    Good instructional video. I'm just surprised that you didn't grease some of the screws that would be exposed to saltwater.

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  4 года назад

      Screws are not typically the issue. It is usually bearings. Saltwater makes it way through every crease and crevice and hole possible. The screw holes are not the path of least resistance.

    wow! thanks, although I am doing this on a CI-200 this allowed me to get my reel back together!!! thank you so much. I have to regrease, because mine is still rough...but everything is back together!! I used the graphite bearings....They are more rough, if I re-grease but still have trouble I may have to email you? I am hoping this does the trick though!!! Can't thank you enough. This citica has sentimental value and I didnt want to get rid of it!

    Good Info! any info on the 200e models with the pivot screw replacing just the palming sideplate that cracked ?

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  5 лет назад +1

      Do you mean the part of the palm plate that unscrews so that the palm plate can be removed? Just a little bigger than a quarter in diameter?

    • @ElBote54
      @ElBote54 5 лет назад +2

      Bayou Reels yes, my 201E7 Reel has a palm plate - the whole sideplate that swivels on the screw - that needs replaced
      I will receive the new part in a few days but I’m unsure what all I have to do to replace it or if there is much to replacing just the simple plate and re-integrating the other complimentary pieces back together. Thx

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  5 лет назад +1

      @@ElBote54 you are going to have to remove the handle and the handle side plate. The shaft that goes through the reel frame for your palm plate will be spring loaded, and if you open the palm plate and push it in and out towards the reel, you should see the other side of that shaft on the handle side near the thumb bar, which is retained by an E-clip. Lock the palm plate back in place. Pop that clip off, unlock the palm plate, pull it out. Keep that spring and whatever else you need that doesn't come with your new parts. I believe this schematic should help: schematics.mikesreelrepair.com/albums/shimano/Shimano_Chronarch_CH201E7_Schematic.pdf

    On the CU-200B5 I had a very small washer that fell out (I think near the line guide) but I didn't see it anywhere in your videos. Any clue where that came out of? It is smaller than any washer used in your videos.

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  4 года назад

      It most probably is the spacer washer that goes under the pawl cap. So after you put the pawl in, that tiny washer will fit perfect on top of it, then put the cap on. I hope thats it man.

    • @denisparish539

    How long does it you to do this when you’re working normally for your business?

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  4 года назад

      10 minutes or less to disassemble depending on the reel. The length of time to clean depends on how dirty the reel is, now many parts need to be inspected and replaced, if I knew it needed repairs or not prior to disassembly, etc.
      10 to 15 minutes to reassemble with fresh oil and grease depending on the reel.

  • @Hunter-yn1vd

    Somehow I ended up with an extra washer

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  4 года назад

      Well depending on the size and material depends on where it goes. There is a wide one that does on the driveshaft under the plastic gear before you stab the driveshaft into the reel body. There are two on the inside of the body of the reel where the bottom of the driveshaft goes through. This is where the e-clip holds it in place. One is brass and the other is black. There is one in the palm side of the worm gear.that does under the e-clip that retains it. There can be a very tiny one that does under the pawl cap. Hope that helps. If not contact me on Facebook.

    • @deepmarsh
      @deepmarsh 4 года назад +1

      Bayou Reels I guess it went in the pawl cap. It’s very small

    • @bayoureels1983
      @bayoureels1983  4 года назад

      Very well could be. Its a really really small washer that goes under the pawl cap. That washer is almost a perfect fit, and if you look at the "bottom" of the pawl, you can see the outline of that washer.
