I just got this in the mail and used it this past weekend inshore fishing. Spool it up with 10 lb Braid and you'll see even better performance. I had the brakes set as low as it would go and it never rat nested. Easily the best baitcaster I have ever thrown. For $200 you cant beat it.

i might be using more braid in the future, I just hate tying leader knots with my bad eyesight
10 lb braid is gonna dig in too much when pulling fish.

@@THEREELTEST yeah I will say leaders are taxing, but the more often you do it the better you can get. FG Knot is my go to due to the strength.

I always bump the spool with my thumb on topwaters right when I let go to make sure the lure does not tumble.

What’s your opinion regarding curado dc and this new curado 150? It is same size…i would expect similar performance. Makes sense to leave the dc and switch to this one?

I imported a Scorpion MGL spool from Japan and replaced the spool in my 200K. Made it a much better casting reel. The only reason I'd prefer the MGL 150 over a Scorpion MGL would be because of the weight difference. It's only an ounce more then my hypermag.

Regular Curado dc 150 nice 👍 on sniper 12 lb on 100 mm handle but I use for big game salmon, stiper great casting real don’t need another basic real just with mgl spool but have the scorpion dc nice combo for the money and have on victory 7’3 amazing 2021 full set up

You mentioned us OCD people with having 3 breaks on. Do you think that will actually matter on the performance of the reel? As in having it symmetrical rather than 3 on one side and 3 off on the other.

I just received mine and it’s already headed back as the thumb bar wouldn’t engage the spool and it sounds like shit. Hopefully the next one being sent to me works.

It’s solid I throw big bladed jigs on it with a listless argon 4 and it works amazing

Excellent. Thank you. But spooling a 70 MGL on the cast in actual fishing conditions, I'd like to see if loaded with appropriate line and lure.
Extremely easy to do w/14lb mono and alot of aerodynamic hardbaits.
i run the 71mgl with 15 lb pp and a 20lb leader wading with a ML rod... its awesome inshore in the flats with artificials. I like it more than my dc and 150 and 200 and e7.

I just received mine and im having the toughest time with over run. Any suggestions? I have the tention knob all the way tightened basically and it came like that.. almost feel something is wrong with the one i got. Never have problems dialing in a reel. Maybe im messing up some how?

For the money, if you had to choose 1 of the following based on your experiences with them, could you rank the 2020 Metanium, 21 Scorpion DC, and the Curado 150 MGL? (Techniques ranging from pitching/flipping, top water, and medium cranking)
Metanium over the Scorpion because of its weight and size. 150 MGL third.
How do you feel this palms in comparison to other Shimano reels? Better than the 200K?
I love the 200K but it does feel bulky.
The only advantage I see for the 200k is that mine is smoother. Dont get the wrong idea though, theres a reason the 200K is a best seller. Its a great reel.

What would be a good internal and external brake setting for someone newer to baitcasters and throwing a 1/2 crank bait to prevent backlashes?
Just turn more breaks on at the beginning and work your way down
Start with how ReelTest did it, max everything out and dail down. 1/2 oz Crankbait can still cast with max brakes and barely wiggle spool tension(important).
Everyone casts different, ex. - my brother in-law's settings I have to dail down just to cast as far on his same reel/rod bc he's taller/stronger. Him casting on my settings, he'll back lash constantly. Just remember wind conditions affect baitcasters of any price a lot. General rule, High Winds = High Brakes
Brand matters too, Daiwa SV TW 103-70 is a match to these Curado MGL 150-70. Daiwa are much more user friendly though (zero dailing system, no internal brakes to adjust, ect.) Daiwa SV TW are automatic cars, Shimano Curado MGL are manual cars.

A 200k will do you good up to lures around 3-4oz anything above that I would get a tranx or a curado 300

@@valencia_m__ I’ve already got one. i’ve got the 8.3.1 or whatever the high speed gear is. i’m actually considering going the opposite direction and getting a round reel. the cardiff is only $120 and it’s in the gearing I want.
@@8.21productions9 check out the Diawa Coastal 200 it’s a great Swimbaits reel and handles the perfect amount of line. I own Diawa and Shimano and Piscifun reels and really like the Diawa Coastal 200 the bearings in it makes a huge difference

I've had problems with my 151HG not wanting to reel up the line. What could I be doing wrong.?
Sounds like the line on your spool might be spinning and not moving with the spool. Did you tie a knot before spoiling? Did you put some electrical tape on your spool before loading it with line? Are you using braided line? Did you use a monofilament backing?
Are you using braid? If so I always use tape to secure the line on the spool no matter what im using
I had issues with this too. Not sure if you're experiencing the same as me, but take your spool completely out and reinsert. Then turn your reel upside down (where the spool would fall out if you didn't hold it) and close the side plate. I took mine in to a repair shop and they couldn't figure it out either for a while

The zillion will be a better all around caster since the Curado DC will struggle with light lures. But for all out distance, the Curado easily wins

This video is by far not a good reel comparison as throwing a half ounce plug on the "proper rod" makes a big difference in the trajectory speed in which the line comes off the spool. That Expride being thrown with the 150 is a far better rod compared to the one used for the 200K. The Expride is going to engage the spool in a totally different manner than the lesser of rod which is a shimano conversion...not a fair comparison by no means, and in no way am I bashing this review bc I believe @THEREELTEST typically does a more in depth and far more informative breakdown of reels compared to most.

Walmart online has the 8:1 in stock with free 2 day shipping right now, but only 2 of them, since the reel was released they have restocked the different gear ratios on a weekly basis

71 es manija izquierda y la capacidad de línea es menor . 150 es manija derecha, y la capacidad de línea es mayor.
Ambos lanzan bien ese tipo de señuelo, la diferencia es que el 70/71 está hecho para pesca liviana. El 150/151 por la capacidad, está hecho para peces más grandes (dourado, trairoes, tucunare, cachorra, etc). Con el 70/71 también, pero la capacidad de línea no sería suficiente.

Its the 7.4 ratio. I might have to look into that theory on the lower gear ratios being smoother
