FilmStruck host Alicia Malone stopped by our closet earlier this summer to stock up on a few of her favorite films. Shop Alicia's Closet Picks: www.criterion....
Love Alicia Malone. Her passion and knowledge for classic films and indie films is so amazing to watch. By far the best part of Screen Junkies and she has a pretty great channel as well.
Dontuween It's a longer story but, in short, it wasn't an issue of money with her. Campea wanted a certain kind of crew for Collider with a more poppy movie sensibility and Alicia didn't fit into that for him. In the end, it all worked out for the best since she basically has the perfect job for any true film geek like her.
I firmly believe the academy should be comprised of the criterion crew and anyone they trust enough to invite into the closet. (I'm looking at you Bill Hader).
So fun fact; I am a server at a restaurant in Astoria at Silver Salmon Grille and I have these two customers come in a man and a woman and I could hear them chattering after I walked away and when I came back they told me that I had a voice that sounded like Alicia Malones because you can hear my smile through my voice. I got home and googled Alicia Malone watched this video and our similar personalities!
Go Alicia!! It must be so surreal to be in the closet and you deserve to be in there with all of the work you've done. P.S. Backwards and in Hills is fantastic so far
And THIS is how you do a closet picks video. Choice AND explanation - being a fan of the series, she knows that we watch these videos to discover new movies and these directors' and actors' tastes.
I have been watching these videos for two-three days now and it might be the first time that someone picked up Ikiru. It's a beautiful film from Kurosawa and seems like his own work has overshadowed this hidden gem. If you have only seen Seven Samurai or his other action packed films, give this film a try.
I think that around 50s he was impeccable. All of his movies around that time were great. I personally love Rashomon for being the first movie to introduce multiple perspectives. And also Rashomon had some great screenplay and direction. The concept of Rashomon was just too great. That said, I absolutely love Drunken Angel, Stray Dog, Ikiru and Seven Samurai too. Akira Kurosawa along with Ingmar Bergman had the biggest quantity of great movies of any director I guess.
Good choices from the awesome Alicia Malone. I hope she continue to host TCM movies for many years to come. I am a bit jealous of the fact that she got to see Lady Snowblood on the big screen.
Good one, Alicia! Haven't seen a bunch of your picks so I will check them out. We were taken on a school excursion to the Dendy in Brighton to see Walkabout when it came out. I was one mindblown 8 year old.
I prize my DVD's so much now, I couldn't think of parting with them! Will say Walkabout is a tremendous movie, that I regret having turned my nose up at for so many years. I'm surprised she didn't pick up Badlands to go along with it.
GreatGarloo she may have. she picked a lot more blu-rays than shown in this video. You can tell that the bag was fairly full and heavy based on how she was lifting it.
waiting for Chris Stuckman & Mark kermode's closet picks, 2 of my fav critics. I cant even imagine how awesome Roger Ebert's closet picks would have been
I have a huge crush on her on TCM. She's beautiful and that accent is as butter as butter.
Picks:
Breaker Morant
Eraserhead
Ikiru
Lady Snow Blood
Weekend
Gilda
His Girl Friday
Walkabout
Pedro Johnson thank you.
Pedro Johnson You know she snagged "Salo" off camera.
Doesn't everyone.
Why didn’t they include this list in the description?
@@MrUndersolo they do now

Looking back, SJ were suffocating her
How refreshing to hear from someone who actually has something to say about the their picks.
Charles Knowlton There have been plenty of closet visitors who've had something to say about their picks.
Every single person who has done this has had something to say about their closet picks lol that's the entire engine of these videos
She's my favorite personality on Screen Junkies
Yeah, I'd totally love to do things to that personality too.
I miss Alicia when the AMC crew moved to Collider, but could not afford to take her :(
She´s the one with taste.. The others are just geeking out over Marvel films..

I used to like Profiles with Malone and Manz. Sad you only seem to be able to get views on RUclips if you talk about Marvel and Star Wars.
Picks:
Breaker Morant, Bruce Beresford (1980)
Eraserhead, David Lynch (1977)
Ikiru, Akira Kurosawa (1952)
Lady Snowblood, Toshiya Fujita (1973)
Weekend, Jean-Luc Godard (1967)
Gilda, Charles Vidor (1946)
His Girl Friday, Howard Hawks (1940)
Walkabout, Nicolas Roeg (1971)
thanks!

Most charming Lady Snowblood impression ever.

Great picks Alicia :) I received your book, Backwards and in Heels already on Kindle, but didn't have time to start it yet
Go Alicia! Great picks btw. Now I'm off to see Ikiru.
Some pretty cool picks and it's great to see somebody talking about the movies so much. Must be a dream come true indeed!
She does one of the best jobs of talking about the films; it would be great if the other folks were similar. She's great!
I love Alicia! Great picks

These are some great picks Alicia, you had a lot of different choices from most of the other Closet Picks videos.
The Red Fury loves her some Godard! Like her even more now.
CONGRATULATIONS, ALICIA! OMG I had to do a double take scrolling down the subscription feed haha
Please get Michelle Pfeiffer to do this, I would be forever grateful!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I like her taste in movies. I'm surprised she's not an actress or a model. She certainly has the looks.
This series is fantastic. Don’t need to say anything else.
The perfect woman.
Go Alicia, great picks, you're awesome. Or something along those lines.
Go, Alicia! Great picks! You're awesome!
Alicia is the absolute best!
Good one, Alicia! Haven't seen a bunch of your picks so I will check them out. We were taken on a school excursion to the Dendy in Brighton to see Walkabout when it came out. I was one mindblown 8 year old.
She's the greatest!
Go Alicia! Great Picks! You're Awesome!
OMG it's alicia Malone😊😀
Will they ever get Scorsese or De Palma in there? A Tarantino visit would be certainly memorable.
Keyser Soze they don't want them there because they'd take everything lol
Keyser Soze Or Steve Gutenberg would be pretty good too.
I wouldn't be surprised If Scorsese owns most of the films in there. Apparently he's got at least 15,000 titles in his collection.
Keyser Soze Ahhhh Tarantino, Hollyweird's biggest hack.
I prize my DVD's so much now, I couldn't think of parting with them! Will say Walkabout is a tremendous movie, that I regret having turned my nose up at for so many years. I'm surprised she didn't pick up Badlands to go along with it.
I cannot believe I’m watching Red Fury in a CC Closet Video. This is amazing.

Walkabout. One of my favorites (along with Don't Look Now).
Finally! What great picks, too!
I remember watching Alicia on Collider and I think even AMC before that. Those days seem like a million years ago now.
Ikiru is seriously a masterpiece
Yay Alicia!!!
Pretty woman
Walking down the street. Pretty woman, the kind i like to meet. I love Roy Orbison. This video was pretty good too.
Those were some cool picks. She should have grabbed the Lone Wolf & Cub set to go along with Lady Snowblood.
GreatGarloo she may have. she picked a lot more blu-rays than shown in this video. You can tell that the bag was fairly full and heavy based on how she was lifting it.
Love you mom
bought Breaker Morant this year. Love Criterion!
The Red Fury!!!

Breaker Morant is brilliant. Thanks for the reminder.

Sometimes I think Earth doesn't deserve her
