I did not know that James Dean was going to be play Brick. Boy that would have been interesting. But I doubt if anyone could have topped Newman. He was simply brilliant.
I remember first seeing this in my 20s and being extremely unclear what it was about. The homosexuality aspect was so downplayed and the resolution so heterosexual, I was just confused. Wonderful performances - just me in a quandary.

I had no idea that in reality Brick and Skipper were "lovers" apparently. Also it showed how one misunderstanding created so much heartbreak.
