I just got a 12 inch male jag. A friend has a 8 inch female I'm thinking of adding to try to breed them. Male is in a 120 gallon. Your jag is a beast, beautiful fish.
Thanks bro! Jags are some great fish. Good comprimise between size aggressiveness and being able to keep them in a relatively inexpensive tank. Appreciate you stopping through.💯💯💯💪👍
Best jag I’ve seen on the internet! I have one don’t know if it’s male or female I got him and 1” big he’s about 6” now and I got him in august 2019. How long do you think till he gets about a foot long ? How many times a day should I feed? thanks in advance!
Thanks I appreciate it. It took him about 2-3 years to get to the size he is in this video. The bigger the tank they're in the bigger they can get especially if they start in a tank 125gal or bigger when they're young. I feed him once every day with cichlid flakes when he was young then around the size yours is now I switched between cichlid pellets and frozen krill 3 times a week and every now and then I would feed him some live feeder fish. Hope this helps👍
gooood looking jag :D in your experience how fast did he grow and what is his exact size? i recently got a 2 year old RTM pair and the male is about 10 inches but only like 5-6 inches tall i would say would love to see him get to the real 12 inch and being alot fatter and taller :D
Thank you. He was about 9-12 and inches in about 18 months and by the time he passed he was around 19 inches if i remember correctly. When i got him he was about 1 1/2 inches and i gradually put him in bigger tanks as he grew starting with a 29gal then 55gal then he lived the rest of his days in a 125gal. Thats a nice size RTM if you can get your pair in a 125-250 gal tank he'll get to the size younwould like. Appreciate you checking out the channel
Nice Jag but from a person who has kept both Oscars and Jags, I personally think the Oscars are a much more pleasurable and better looking fish in my opinion. Jags can be extremely shy and skittish.
Ryan Heard I've had Oscar's too. They are nice fish it just so happens out of the 2 Oscar's 1 red devil and this jag. The jag was the most aggressive of the bunch and the healthiest so this is the one I kept. But fish from any species can be shy or aggressive dependent on the individual. Thanks for watching.
It took about 3-4 years the quicker and the bigger the tank you can put yours in the faster and better the results you'll see along with proper care. Hope this helps
That’s the prettiest jag I’ve ever seen, and it’s not even close. Awesome fish! I’ve got one that’s about 3” in my tank right now. Hope it turns out like that!
John Hartman thanks!! They are probably the best species I have had. I would recommend the biggest tank you can get and try to keep just 1 or a pair in your tank and you'll have a beautiful speciman
Thanks for checking out the vid👍If you want them to grow big I would say minimum 125gal for 1 fish 225gal or bigger for a pair of fish. Now you can get away with smaller sizes but you wont get the full potential out of them. Hope this helps
Crisitan Sardina definitely the more room the better for this type of fish. But be aware this species can be highly aggressive towards other fish as it is a predatory fish!!
It's kinda shitty. People in the comments discussing how nuch they love these animals, but then put them in glass cages for their own personal amusement. Certain fish aren't meant to be kept like this. Cichlids like this are too large, imagine spending your entire life in a glass box which was l only big enough lfor you to take 4 steps. You also have a diet made of pellets, compressed freeze dried, living underneath a bright artificial light that you can never hide from. Constant noise from the filer as if someone was splashing water right by your face. The highlight of this animals day is turning around. Ya ya ya, I know. "iTs JuSt a Fish!!", it doesn't matter. The fact people put them in glass boxes like this just so they can stare at them for 10 minutes a day is a shit thing to do. If people actually respected these animals they wouldn't do this.
@@Mrlilchilly1 that's the biggest and most robust looking Jaguar I've ever seen grown out in a aquarium. You did an awesome job taking care of this beast.
@@MrLilChilly wow man that's old your jaguar cichlid was very beautiful my jaguar is 7 years old he is starting to become slow and he gets more tired so he doesn't swim as much as he used to he is becoming a old man lol hopefully mine reaches 10 or more but anyway they fish are so amazing and intelligent just great fish one day my jaguar cichlid will be in fish heaven with your jaguar 😃😃
@@TandTfishpro he died a few years ago. I think the last measurement was close to 20 inches somewhere around 19 something. There is a guy on RUclips that had a jag in a tank with a monster Dovii and his jag was around 22-23 inches and the Dovii dwarfed it..they was in a 600gal tank. I'm going to try to find a link to his channel.
I hate people like this in the hobby, do your research on the fish you have and want. Flowerhorns are supposed to be by themselves and it is recommended to put them by themselves.
MadamLolz You must know nothing about large cichlids if you think they can be housed with plants.Theres only a few exceptions but that’s because they are peaceful species like Severums and Uaru but even those cichlids will out right eat your plants.
Everytime I wanna see the peak beauty of a Jag cichlid, I'll go looking exactly for this video! This fish is a solid 10/10!!!

Ive never seen a shy jag. Maybe as juveniles. But jags are aggressive. Oscars are personable. There's a huge difference

He's awesome! How big is your tank? And how old is he?
Thanks! I don't have him anymore, he died a little over a year ago. He was around 7 years old. He was in a 125 gal.

how are you cleaning the gravel? and problems with him biting your hand?
Valentin Bozhilov i just used a regular gravel vacuum he would bite the syphon tube but never bit me even when feeding him. Sadly he died in november.
Badass man...would they be a good fish at this size for an outside pool?
Crisitan Sardina definitely the more room the better for this type of fish. But be aware this species can be highly aggressive towards other fish as it is a predatory fish!!
Crisitan Sardina as long as you can provide proper filtration and have the good water parameters and temperature.
Is he still going strong 👌🏻
Unfortunately he died some years ago. 😔
