I have a female Jaguar that is literally mentally insane. She acts like she just escaped a mental health facility when they were trying to give her meds. Probably the most active fish I’ve ever owned by far besides my Red Devil.
Yea, like all cichlids you get the communal ones, and the psyco ones, I had to grow out 2 seperate Oscars to get one that wasn't attacking fish three times their size, its not the species- it's their temperament ! I managed a Jag with a Red Devil, Salmon catfish, 2 Oscars, Synspilum, Chocolate Cichlid, And Trimaculatis - sometimes you get lucky ! Busy tanks can work where fish cannot just single out one fish.
I have a male jag in a tank with a male Jack Dempsey , a male green Texas , a female trimac and a female festae , the jag is about 10 inches now , He’s no problem at all, he gets on great with his tank mates , I think because I’ve had him since he was about 4 inches and I’ve grown these fish up together, that’s why they get along fine. Love the videos by the way, best wishes from the uk.
Some will definitely try to eat there tank mates. Me and my mom received one from it's previous owner because it was trying to eat its tank mate which was more than half it's size. We kept ours with a pleco successfully.
I have a question_ i wanna do a Jaguar community tank with Red devil, green terror, convicts and Jack Dempsey... If I purchase all simultaneously as small juvenile what size aquarium do you recommend as a grow out tank and how long before I'll have to upgrade_ lastly what size aquarium do they graduate to from the grow out tank? Thanks
Awesome video man! I got some hybrids on the way next week - Jag mix with Dovii - Jagovii. I’m pumped to grow them out and excited to see what size they max at. How long did it take yours to get to that 10-12 inch size?
I was told NOT to mix a Jag with my Uaru Panda's and Severum's! How you manage to have them sharing your tank?? They must be terrified!! BTW what are those things in your tank?
I have a jaguar cichlid that will be a year old in July and he's about 7 inches long right now and usually gets picked on by my pearl cichlid (he has a Napoleon complex because he's about 7 inches long). But when he decides to stick up for himself you can tell because the pearls face gets messed up 😅
I live in Costa Rica and I finally managed to fish some, they're an awesome looking cichlid and I can't wait to add one to my Costa Rican fish aquarium. P.D: They also taste really good 😂
Anyone know what kind of tank stand is shown in the videos. It almost looks like he has a double stack 75 gallon set up and that is something I’ve been looking to do. Any advice on how to do something like that or what size tanks these are?
Good luck bro, I want to get one for my 125 to put with my 2 oscars, texas cichlid, and jack dempsey but I'm kinda scared as well lol but I think I'm gonna do it anyway
Huge Jag fan here but not as knowledged as you. I have a male 5" in a 125, and a couple others at 3.5" in a 30. I am pretty sure theyd get picked on in my big tank. My problem is designating males from females. How old are yours? Oh I also have another 30 with about 20 young ones at 2"+
What's up dude I have a 220 gallon fish tank that I keep some mix cichlid in it and I'm thinking about taking everything out and getting a about 16 in Wolf cichlid parachromis dovii should I do it, what do u think ? Thank u
The reason your fish are battered up and constantly fighting is coz you have waaayy too much junk in your tank to the point the fishes don't get enough space for themselves and tend to get snappy, remove some of the decorations from it, you don't need much on a cichlid tank anyways
Despite the rare occasion of a more peaceful individual... the vast majority of jaguars are very aggressive and do not like tankmates. Even when breeding them the male almost always needs to be removed immediately after or you risk losing your female. I agree they are beautiful fish but it’s dangerous to confuse your recommendations based on your good experience with good individual jags.
It's funny how the armchair bandits can make comment on Your fish with any battle damage they may have, these clowns are probably the all knowledgeable goldfish owners that continually replace dead fish , not knowing what they are doing, nor have Ever caught a fish in the wild and notice how many Marks an adult fish will have on them, or fin shredding from territorial disputes" -In The Wild". When you consider us Cichlid keepers can house these species of fish in the condensed area of a fish tank, I recon we do a pretty dam good job with our fish, and if they don't look like working together, WE have the options of moving to different tanks, or relocating our fish through out our hobbyist community. Fish in the wild don't have that luxury. "Good "Fish Keeping Mate , ignor the haters - no idea ! I'm looking for a Jag myself, i had a large one years ago with many other Chiclids with success and was my favourite. Great content from Australia 😁
I got a Jaguar yesterday, male approximately 9 inches. My 12” plus Red Devil would of killed it in 15 minutes. Had to remove the Jaguar to save his life. Red Devils are way more aggressive
“6 reasons to own a Jaguar cichlid” “their size”... that might be main reason most people should NOT own a Jaguar cichlid because it’s a fish that obviously needs a HUGE tank
Why do you have so many Large cichlids in one tank? That 125 is barely enough for both the Jaguars. I dont understand why "Hobbiest" Over crowd their tanks. My opinion is treat your fish right an give the the space!!!!!

I’m on my second Jag, so worth it, they’re awesome.
Jags are dope, fun fact I’m located in Australia my state just classed these as a pest so we can’t own/breed/sell them anymore
Why are they considered pests now ???
AFGHAN LION because they are multiplying heaps in our water systems and competing with the natives
@@lachysaquatics8495 wow I never figured jags could multiply that quick, are they live bearers??
AFGHAN LION no they are not they just out complete the natives
@@lachysaquatics8495 oh ok

I love the jaguar, but cannot afford the time to set up another tank. Yours are beautiful!
Cichlids are always changing that's what makes them interesting and keeps ppl interested. Haters just dont know
Hey when are you going to do an update on the shop and the huge plywood tank. .
I want to get a breading pair tank. Can't decide between the Jaguar, Dovi are Red devil. Both are amazing and beautiful their own ways.
I just got 10 baby Jaguars. I had no interest in them at least to keep but I've been on a kick with them lately so i had to get some.

It’s cool you got of them in there. Agree with you with the fighting but maybe just maybe to overstocked I would say.

I was told NOT to mix a Jag with my Uaru Panda's and Severum's! How you manage to have them sharing your tank?? They must be terrified!! BTW what are those things in your tank?

Hey Chris thanks for video. So it's possible to keep green terror with jaguars. Any tips before doing that?
Hi...recently i bought a golden jaguar fish but they don't eat the food that I feed them. So can recommend me what food good for them? Thanks.
How many gallons is the above tank?
Would you house one of these with a medieval?
Just got 2 juvenile jaguars, put them in a community tank and scared of the results, wish me luck guys.
Good luck bro, I want to get one for my 125 to put with my 2 oscars, texas cichlid, and jack dempsey but I'm kinda scared as well lol but I think I'm gonna do it anyway

To small
Too small
Only the boys know this video is actually already uploaded before but its get removed
What's up dude I have a 220 gallon fish tank that I keep some mix cichlid in it and I'm thinking about taking everything out and getting a about 16 in Wolf cichlid parachromis dovii should I do it, what do u think ? Thank u

Whats going on whit the aquarium store ?
They are very aggressive and territorial, my Jag is 8" and terrorizing the tank
My favorite is my red devil..
Surprised jags don’t attack everyone

Bro that true green terror is getting big!
At first, they need a much bigger tank!!!

6 and 2 are the same reason.. foh.. next
My Jag tried to kill every fish in my tank
Cichlids rock! I'm partial to the Oscar though..
I got a Jaguar yesterday, male approximately 9 inches. My 12” plus Red Devil would of killed it in 15 minutes. Had to remove the Jaguar to save his life. Red Devils are way more aggressive
JAG-WIREEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Cannot believe those devils are still alive...
Mine is a psychopath
“6 reasons to own a Jaguar cichlid” “their size”... that might be main reason most people should NOT own a Jaguar cichlid because it’s a fish that obviously needs a HUGE tank
Please remove the Severums. Severums are least aggressive cichlids. More docile. Can become stressed with Jaguar.
Why do you have so many Large cichlids in one tank? That 125 is barely enough for both the Jaguars. I dont understand why "Hobbiest" Over crowd their tanks. My opinion is treat your fish right an give the the space!!!!!
It's so the fish don't kill each other, the aggression is spread out
Far far too small a tank for those huge fish. Sad and thoughtless
Mine will rip anyone apart he tore a flower horn apart that was 2 times his size
