We kept our jags in their own tank (though they did have a HUGE pleco) they were a breeding pair and they were highly territorial and other than the plec that kept to himself and stayed out of their way they'd eat and hunt everything that went in that was not their own fry. They were amazing parents though, but once their babies were grown, they had to go they did not tolerate their kids all grown up, I guess there was too much competition and the kids needed to move out. I've been out of it for years now but man I miss those jags they were awesome!!!
I agree with you a jag is a ticking time bomb especially when hit maturity they will jist about rip the face off any tank mates ..best if kept alone..besides why risk a beauty fish like a jag to get tore up..
Hello, I've ordered fish on line and they were supposed to be peacocks but I think one might be a jaguar cichlid. Don't know what I will do with him.Kinda scary to me.
Palmer Fish Cave yeah looks like it.i got 3 and thought two of them were males.i was wrong when i vented them.i got 1 male out of three.males have alot of spotting on belly.female not so much and faded.

I added a Jag yesterday to my tank and the aggression attitude of two my fish was calmed down by 100%
The Jaguar is probably one of the nicest cichlids that I have ever seen. A bit on the aggressive side.
