Hi Scott and Jess. You both seem so lovely. I'm about to embark on a renovation project myself (a do-up of a 110 year old villa in Grey Lynn). Your videos are very helpful (I've watched the Kingsland reno numerous times given the similarities to what I'm going to do) but even if your videos aren't related to something in my build, I keep your videos going because I want to support you guys. Great content and great positivity. All the best.

Hi Scott, I've been subbed for over five years now, I'm a carpenter too and watching your videos was one of the big influences on my choice to start my own company. I'm now fully self employed, and at 26, actually really happy with my job for the first time in my life. Thank you so much for all the laughs and all the skills and information you've shared along the way, always presented with your signature attention to detail both in your work and video making. Big love, keep it up mate.

I did wonder why did you put the Polish currency there in the first place as noone ever does that:) Became so clear later on. I'm from Poland living in Welington. Been here 8yrs now. Visited Nelson so many times and I love it there too. Found you on yt around a year ago when when I decided to do double glazing on our house here windy Welly. Done the whole house all by myself since thanks to your video with Meridian which helped me save around 20k if I were to subcontract it. Thank you guys I absolutely love your content and keep the good work going. A bit of a token from me for your future content. PS. Hope Poland treated you well:)

That was undoubtedly the best Q&A RUclips video I have ever seen. Taking us along for a little road trip while you answered viewers' questions, was totally unique. Where you live is such a beautiful part of the world. As a professional photographer, I find the landscape in & around Mount Cook to be unbelievably picturesque. Hopefully, one day, me, my partner & my cameras will make it to see & photograph this amusing place. I nearly didn't watch this video, thinking it was going to be yet another overly long & boring RUclips Q&A. I'm so glad I decided to watch this. Good luck for the future, Scott & Jess & may the channel go from strength to strength.

You're totally right about the "overcapitalizing", it's YOUR home, having it your way with the comfort you desire is worth a lot. I'm currently renovating a home I will live in for many years to come and plan to share. The sharing part isn't for "return on investment", nor are most things I'm doing with it, I want to share it because it's big enough to share, and I do the things I do with it because it fits my needs and what's needed to comfortably share some spaces without getting in eachothers ways.
I'm definitely "overcapitalizing" as well, as well as making terrible choices if adding value was the sole purpose (f.e. I went with radiators instead of underfloor, a separate long and narrow kitchen instead of an open one, low ceiling heights... all against what's trendy and gives great first impressions to a buyer), but I don't want to live in the perfect flip house, I want to live in a house that suits my needs and taste.

Oh, what a great 400th episode! We were last in NZ with our 3 young children in 2010. We hired a campervan around both islands for nearly 4wks. We stopped off in Cable Bay, Nelson & Kaiteriteri, then on to Hanmer Springs. So, it's been lovely seeing how you arranged this episode. Our Kiwi friend, Mel, is from Christchurch & her parents are here in the UK, just now. We look forward to the Friday videos & can't wait to see the next development with the house. As we live in a nearly 400yr old house in the NW of England, we know exactly what it's like to renovate & restore. We've taken down the stone & timber framed gable end & rear elevation. £££ have been spent & we have yet to extend. So, here's to the next 400 episodes, as we toast you, while drinking our NZ wine!!! Onwards & upwards. You do you! 😊

My wife and I look forward to a new SBC video every weekend. Thanks so much for giving us all a sneak preview of your life, and love seeing Jess so much in the videos! Will you have more merch soon? Understood if it's logistically a nightmare right now!

Thank you for all the great videos. I have been following for years and have gotten a lot of useful advice for my own renovation. I too have a very strong emphasis on comfort in my home so there is also a lot of extra work and extra spending - but it is all worth it in the end. Probably also in the long run in terms of value of the house.
I am currently renovating the house full time so I can't spare that much but I feel I have gotten so much for so little over the years. Wish you the best.

Still like the outdoor videos and hearing Scott say “ deck “ a hundred times and giggling at the accent every time. Well done guys 👍

I've been watching you for about a year, maybe more, I love how honest you are, how positive, how real. Today, when I heard that my country Poland had a part in your life, I was happy!! Keep it up, you have a faithful viewer from Gdynia (near Sopot and Gdańsk)! :-) Regards and wish you all the best!!

I found this channel just as Jess & Scott were about to leave Auckland.
There was something endearing and intrepid about the two of them setting off on an adventure during the chaos and uncertainty at the time.
I quickly digested the back catalogue, and continue to eagerly await the next exciting episode.
Thank you both for your bravery.

Hi Scott and Jess! I'm in Northern California and I just started following SBC in 2024, around eps 430. I love the whole calm vibe of the channel and the really interesting building work inter cut with beautiful scenery. I didn't realize that Scott was half of the cutest couple in NZ until just now. Thanks for your hard work.

I am an American who moved to NZ in 2022. I discovered the Menz Shed and re-ignited my desire to do woodworking. And this led me to your channel somehow. Your episodes renovating your house has really helped me with the culture shock of NZ home building and living in a NZ home. As you mentioned in this episode houses are cold, not insulated, single glazed and damp. You don't heat every room all the time. Bedrooms are heated by space heaters. Good on you for deciding to live in a warm, healthy home. And with Scott's skills making sure it is done correctly. I saw in a recent video the heat vent/exchange tubing (don't recall its real name) and wonder if you could do an episode on just that, and what options you considered? Someday I hope to own a home here and need instruction on this topic. Love the channel. Am jealous of Scott for getting free tools.

A great insight into a beautiful couple.
Every saturday morning my 4yr old son and I sit down to watch. He loves a bit Scott Brown Carpentry.
Although, I had to watch this episode without him as it didnt have any carpentry content haha.

Wow. This is my favorite QA episode. I skip a lot from other creator because they’re just sitting talking. Your chemistry, locations, and guests made this a very entertaining watch. Congrats on 400!
