My son and I ran into Matt and a friend out fishing yesterday in Orange Beach. He was not filming but instead just doing what he does best. He is genuinely a great guy. We kept it short so he could enjoy a day in peace. Needless to say. The fishing was at best rough. lol
Been watching for a while trying to learn more efficient surf methods. This was by far the most informative by breaking down your location cues and tide timing. I only get to surf fish on the occasional trip from Prattville to Orange Beach so any knowledge to better my limited chances is greatly appreciated. Keep it up!
POMPANO TIME...
Sitting in an old recliner watching you Pompano fish is almost like being on the beach.
Sand and water and fish...
Nothing Better!!
Thanks for taking us old birds back to our Younger Fishing Days!
Thank You...
Don’t ever take for granted living near the surf, those beaches are just amazing, and the free seafood is a real gift. We’re leaving the rat race next year and moving to St. Augustine area and can’t wait.
Watch a couple other u tubers on beach fishing, your by far the best. Nice to have you back at the beach. 🏖🐟
Just started fishing 3 months ago in Charleston and this weekend caught my first Pompano on the beach, 15"!!! Thanks for all your advice and vids!
This is a great video Matt- super helpful and informative. You need to create a “Basics: fishing on your vacation” play list and include this one!
Sweet to be able to find multiple bait options right where you are! Great lessons in this vid!
Cool to see you pump Ghost Shrimp. It's all I fished with growing up in South Africa. Get yourself a wheelbarrow innertube and drape & tie a net to the inner circle. That way you have a floating net to pump into. Sand falls through and Yabbies stay behind.
Oh my goodness Matt. Thank you for your advice. As you know ill be headed down south to do just what you did here, I was listening intently lol. God bless, take care and be safe. Stay bummy 👍
Last Sat I took my sons to South Spessard-Holland Beach south of Melbourne FL to surf fish, and the bite was crazy. In only 4 1/2 hours we caught 9 bluefish, 19 whiting, and an overslot 39" snook 25 yards from the shoreline on cutbait, but only one undersized pomp unfortunately. Man, I love cooking large pomp. Kudos to you, Bama, for those nice, large pomps.
Excellent information once again Matt, and it looks like you're video footage is getting better. Thanks
Congratulations on your success! I started watching you at 27K and your channel have grown so much. More power to you.
Great video Matt, lots of information in 20 min. The wind this week has been a bummer, ready to get a line back in the water!
Very educational video. My favorite vid you’ve uploaded this year.
Awesome video! With all the details and time stamps on fish caught. It really feels like we are there...👍
Great to see you on the beach again. You really need to service that Penn reel that is so noisy. Almost sounded like you have some sand where you don’t want to have it.our beaches and piers are still closed. Enjoyed this a lot!
Great video big dog! It really is a good instructional video on how to catch Pompano! I really listen to it and as soon as I get the chance to get down there I'm going to give it a shot!
Matt, if I had to run the way you do, I would pass out! Great action there and as usual, the hardest worker gets the payoff and you worked hard for what I assume was a delicious dinner.....Enjoy! I enjoyed watching you as usual!
Great video bro! Glad to see you back in the saddle!!
Thanks for showing the times.... One other thing that I would like, is the date / month / season in the title so I could see what was happening in the past per season / month etc. Awesome videos.
Great video, I love the educational part of your video, and using those factor that u talk about and learning from them, have helped me produce more Fish on my outing it takes all the guesswork out , so thankyou for being one my , teachers, trying to put together my next outing day , got home work to do,,,,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,,,,,,
Nice. We are down here right now and you have to have filmed this before the wind kicked up this week. We are going to try orange beach in the morning hopefully the the wind isn't crazy.
Nice going Matt, and thanks fer the advice on what to look for and use. Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
"Like a little dump truck.." LOL...Then you get doubled up on the rod farthest away while single handed ....arms tired...LOL.... I'll be down in the area soon so I hope my luck is like yours. Stayin' Bummy right here!!
Best, most informational video he's ever put out! Thanks beach bum!
I took the drone up down by national seashore in east pensacola beach and saw some large schools, of course I did not have my fishing stuff with me.
Awesome vid, thanks for the tips for the fishing. Might have to try that sometimes
What was the tide app you showed on your phone?
Fish on Bama keep up fishing bro n be safe Always
Can you make a detailed video on how to get ghost shrimp? I got the sand flea thing down but have never gone after ghost shrimp. Thanks. 👍
Good advice! Those deeper Channels definitely do tend to hold fish long that a normal sand bar!
Another great video 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Dude the video was posted 30 seconds ago lmao
Matt have you tried fishgum? Local product and I absolutely love it. A softer and more stimulating fishbites (and just plain better imo). Doesn't ever get hard, easy to hook and unhook, and catches better than fishbites in my experience.
Thanks for the instructional info in this video. This is why I started watching and subbed to you. I enjoy all your videos and these instructional ones are what is tourists are looking for.👍
Good day... suggestion...maybe get the angle of the bent rod when reeling one in? We just see you reeling now. Mix it up some. Any fishing parties showing up? Miss the interaction with them...lol
Hey Matt, it is great to see you on the beach catching Pomps again! I am about to buy my fourth reel for beach fishing. I have two older Penn Spinfishers, a 4400 and a 5500. I also caught a 5000 Battle II on sale last year and couldn't pass it up. Now I am thinking of getting a Spinfisher VI, but can't decide if I should get a 4500 or another 5500. What is your recommendation? Since I am traveling some distance to do my beach fishing, I will be pairing the reel with a two piece 9' Breakwater rod. Thanks for the great videos! You are one of the best!
Great video. Enjoyed it. Very informative and entertaining.
Can u plz do a video on how to pump ghost shrimps?
One of your best !!!!!!!
Great video brother weather is looking windy
I live in Washington our beach and ocean fishing is still closed thanks so much for the video.
Just caught 4 pompano yesterday on New Smyrna Beach FL. All ranging from 12-16". Used sandflea fish bites and live shrimp. Tagged ya on IG for pics.
I’ll be going to fort Walton beach next next weekend and I hope I can catch a couple pompano I know I’ll have no issue getting on the whiting but a pompano would be special caught 3 last year in PCB but mainly caught sharks and flounder but still fun I’ve gotta go during the biggest run one day !!!
At 11:06 guy beachwalker staring at your pompano wishin' he was fishin'. Been there done that...ha.
..GREAT ONE, fishing for fun and excitement...lol..stay safe..
I was in Ft. Morgan last Thursday - Saturday. Was super pumped to catch a few Pomps. Then the wind came in...…….
Great video Matthew, lots of good info. Hope that last fish lived.
Love your channel , im going to be in dauphin island for the forth hopefully I can get on like you do.lol
Great fishing there buddy
Buddy a good day fishing and no Fred. Great video.
I saw Fred down the beach when Matt first came on, but Fred knows by now that it is a waste of time to beg off on Matt.
May 14 was my birthday and I was at Gulf Shores and caught nothing but catfish! I need to go to Ft Morgan next time. Keep bumming!
Awesome catches man!
We’re you casting into the middle of the rip or on the edges or off to the sides of them?
Whats the earliest the pompano run starts and latest it runs til
Great video. Amazing they hit just the Fish Bites. If you don’t mind, what was the hook size.
Last time I went to the beach I caught one little pin fish 😂 that was last year though
For the pompano jig, would a pink color or orange color work best. I saw you having success with the pink but the orange might do better because it looks like a sand flea. Just a thought. 😁
I love the way you explain in detail. Very educational and helpful 🙏👍 subbed as well 🥳 what ia that pump you used to pull the sand fleas?
Do you have to have a special permit to fish on the beach or just regular license I never have fish to the beach it’s looks fun to fish
The cart tires/look good. Any problems so far?
Thank you sir for the video.
Great show thanks bum
Give a man a fish. He will have fish for a night. Teach a man to fish he will have fish for a lifetime. Except when he gets skunked. Then it’s a fish sandwich at a drive through! 😂
True dat. These fish caught fresh from the Gulf of Mexico are just outstanding. A fish eaten the same day it was caught out of that body of water is just another level of goodness. It really makes a difference with seafood as to how soon it makes it from swimming to being in your tummy.
tackle question...where do you get your pompano floats that you use on your rigs?
Where are you going to be this week?Just wondering because we’re going down Fort Morgan fish
would you recomend pyramid sinkers or the spider-type
What's your advice on sand fleas? Do you only cast ones that have eggs in them, or do any medium to large-sized sand fleas work for you, even if they don't have eggs?
Great video, lot of good info
Do you prefer pyramid or Sputnik weights? Does surf determine ounce of weight?
Love your fishing videos! What is your go to brand/color/LB on your braid you like to use out there? Thanks!
Great advise.
Awesome videos man! Wondering if there’s any reason you use the white cooler vs the ozark trail from older videos?
Love your videos, very helpful information. Have you ever fished the Grayton Beach Florida area for Pompano?
Great video Bro,
@bamabeachbum think we can still catch pompano in Tampa this time of year?
Are those 7 foot M rods you're using? The reason why I'm asking academy sports has a H2O combo 7ft M rod I'm looking at getting just wondering if it's worth it. Thanks
Enjoyed the video
My 2¢, 7' rods are more for where you don't have to cast far. Surf rods are 9' or longer.
Try fishing for pompano in Melbourne Florida
WHAT APP ARE YOU USING FOR THE TIDES ?
Matt do you ever fish from the beach with small pin fish as bait??
I’d like to see you go to surfside texas and see what you got. Lol
I wonder who tests and tastes the flavors of Fish Bite to compare them to the real thing?????
I'd like to know the answer to that question
I think the guy's name is Bernie. He works in the warehouse on 2nd shift.
The fish obviously, they'd monitor how the react based on differne formulas
Dr. William Carr, inventor of Fishbites, broke down each of the species/scents that they carry, to their most essential amino acids and proteins which is what a fish smells/detects when hunting it's prey. Check out "Inventing Fishbites" on RUclips and it'll kind of give you an idea of how he did it.
What size circle hooks do you use?
How are you! Nice you can fish daily What w A Blessing for you! PS is there a reason you don't cast your line standing at the waters edge as opposed to back away so far? Seems you would get better distance for deeper water. just curious Here! Fish On and enjoy!
Great Video!!!
I just moved to Melbourne, FL (Central FL). What if the waves are high 3-5 feet but the wind is only at about 9MPH. Is that a bad fishing day? If not how would you go about fishing?
Hey, just wanted to know how's your ninja rod holding up? I noticed you had some tape around the handle. Are the ninjas rods worth the money?
As always.... Sa-Weeett! Thanks Bama.
Thank you...!!!
What size set up were you using?
gREAT VIDEO I'M GONNA BUY SOME OF THOSE FISH BITES
Where you fishing right now!! late season you gotta move north.
Did you put duct tape on the rod handle because of the way you put them in the sand spike? It seemed like that tape was at just the right spot to help with some the issues you’ve had in the past.
Super cool video.
Good One!
Great Video as always. What pump are you using to pump bait? Thanks.
Man,the way you put them back, you must not have many fish eaters at your table
What’s out there mid July I will be there surf fishing from the 19-24
Can’t believe people walk under the line, not as if they can’t see the rods!!!! Good fishing 👍
You know it takes so much time to get around them.....lol
What tide app are you using?
