    What light are you using as a backlight w/ barn doors at 7:15m ?? At first, I thought you said flashlight and thought oh that's great for my budget lol... maybe a powerful LED flashlight with some diffusion help could work as a backlight?

    With their new 10K lumen model and a fresnel lens, you can overpower the sun. This makes the complication of flash a thing of the past for many types of shots, especially for weddings where you often need light for both photography and video.

    The reflected light adds so much faux dynamic range that it starts to look medium format. This is very cool.

    Hi Omar, just wanted to thank you for making this video. I have the same portrait kit and wanted help. You answer a lot of my questions and now I have a better understanding of the kit I have. I currently used the outdated Nikon D70 and need to do indoor and outdoor.

    Ya I think I'm going to do this but I do so little portrait that I can't be bothered learning my flash. I do like the idea of doing continuous light over flash.

    This was great. My takeaway is that flashes/strobes reward preparation and practice whereas this is better for situations where lower light can exploit its "live view" advantage.
    If/when I cajole my kid to be in front of a camera like that while I futz around, I wind up with tons of pictures of her looking at her phone.

    the Phottix 16 inch multi boom will solve your articulating issue ...I use the Westcott version of the umbrella reflector and it was a game changer...it requires their Varos Umbrella holder (or one similar)...but is was well worth the investment...the umbrella holder is the best I've ever used...peace

    Hi, Omar! In Russia,photographers have been using such lighting devices for a long time. Enterprising Chinese began to make similar illuminators on LEDs a few years ago. And on such illuminators you can set the desired color temperature (daylight, or artificial light). Usually these illuminators use videographers, but for photography in certain moments the same will come down)))

    Continuous light is great if you're shooting inside the couple's room in a hotel which is usually small, the hotel's hallway. Where you don't have the luxury of time to fiddle with your flash. You are in and out of the room and off you go to the church.

    Hi Folks do you think this could be used for product photography, in particular wooden objects/art? Am just getting back into photography, and loving my Fuji X2, as it picks up where I left off, (lots of easy dials to play with), from my old film days.

    • @ogonzilla
      @ogonzilla  5 лет назад +1

      Yessir. Any light would work for that. Decide on the quality and direction. As you saw, I used it in a large umbrella for soft results. A window, flash, or continuous lights.

    Hi Omar or anyone how can give me some feedback.
    I was wondering how well can we control this light to use inside dark venues to do couples portraits. Can we focus the light in order to avoid light spill? Can we use modifiers to shape the light, for example, have a beam in portrait or landscape position? Thanks

    Omar, heeeelp! Sometimes I try to take portraits with backlight. Here is an example of what I'm trying to achieve imgur.com/zBShHxs
    To preserve the highlights I get the subject completely dark, obviously, but I can recover it in post. The problem is, if I want a very shallow depth of field, AF is crucial. Sometimes I still get it with my a7iii, like you saw in the link, but most of the times the camera just won't focus. What can I do? I'm just taking my wife photos, I don't want to use speedlights nor strobes, but... maybe if I use just a trigger, like Godox X2T? Can I use just its AF assist? Will it help? If you can't reply in a comment I hope you'll talk about it in a video^^

  • @stemcleeds
    @stemcleeds 8 месяцев назад

    Clearly they aren't a match to the power of strobe. Not for me. Great video though.
