You convinced me! I've been toying with the idea of ditching strobes in favor of continuous light not only for for more predicability but to help me focus manually in the dark even quicker! Great vid bud!
Does it come with those tripods? If not, what’s the name of the tripods that you are using for those lights and can you send a link to them please? Question also open to anyone in the comments. Thanks everyone! 😊
probably more depends on the room, but if you're going to be front lighting from the stage area back, I'd be fine with using something like this, but much more likely to want something much softer and less directional. toss a lantern on it or something to boost the entire ambient lighting
@KarlDomning for sure, even just a stop or two of light that has a little bit of separation to it can be wildly helpful. Even bouncing light off a wall or ceiling can work too depending on the venue of course
@@benjhaisch You really have me thinking about the different LED lights at the moment. I’m looking at the upgraded Stella pro reflex S (9000 lumens continuous or 18000 lumens in burst with swappable freshens for spot, medium wide and wide spread with barn doors etc… Obviously they are a hard light source so greater options for modifying software than say a rotolight. I was wondering if you had played with these lights? Of have you played with the rotolight aeos 2 pro, neo 3 pro or even the newer Zhiyun X60 and X100 lights? In the plus column for the rotolight , I do like that setup for weddings appears to be reasonably quick/easy to setup for soft light cause you don’t need modifiers but obviously it’s not going to be much use throwing the light across a dance floor or reception speeches! Interested to get your thoughts on the lights I’ve mentioned above and why you landed on the Aputure ? Thanks so much for your time.
Hey Benj, just a follow-up comment/question: how many of these would you recommend to be setup at a wedding (for photography) during the reception/low light situations?
The DJ lights are almost never helpful in terms of key lighting, so unless they’re dead set on doing that, I’ll often be able to use these instead and let them to accent lighting instead.
I want to install the Aputure LS60 in a studio. If I turn it on and off with a master switch, will the lights automatically turn on and have my last settings or do I have to manually press a button or something? Thanks!
Great video, thanks for the info! As a wedding photographer, I’m curious on your light setup with these during a wedding reception. Do you use two or three lights? & how exactly do you position them?
Loved the review and will purchase (when they are available again) I have one more gear question, what is the small tripod (on your right) in the video?
Would you mind sharing your experience as to how MANY of these lights would be optimum for (or how many do YOU bring to) an event such as wedding. Obviously, investment in equipment increases with multiple, and the hope would be that they would pay for themselves with the work. Thanks for your thoughts.
Benj great content. How many of these do you use for Receptions ? (If using these alone) Or are you using a combination of these and the Amaran I want to get what is suitable for great lighting without having to test light configurations and pay so much. Again only your best recommendation if you can share for your Reception experience. This would help a lot from being lost in all these videos from people not shooting Receptions 😅 Thanks Brother
ah, my bad. I answered multiple times on other videos but didn't realize I hadn't on this one. It's just a monopod base. Similar to this one: amzn.to/3J8JCKr
@@benjhaisch awesome, thanks a lot mate. I found another one, which is also very ncie: iFootage Cobra 2 Ministativ. Fits a little bit better from the colours.
For those asking about the base, it is the bottom of a monopod, similar to this: amzn.to/3J8JCKr
This is a perfect example of what makes your channel so valuable to working photographers. Praise be! 🙏🤪🤘
Thanks so much for this! It’d be great to have a bts video of you use these lights in a real wedding as a photographer! 🙏🏼

Thank you for this! Been waiting on more real use videos on these lights
That subtle flare right at the beginning... absolutely crushed that pivot!
This video helped me decide to get both the D and X. phenomenal lights!
What tripod are you using on the left light?
I'm also interested in the question about the tripod. It is strange that the author has not been able to answer it for several months.
Does it come with those tripods? If not, what’s the name of the tripods that you are using for those lights and can you send a link to them please?
Question also open to anyone in the comments. Thanks everyone! 😊
Have you found an LED setup that could actually work for an indoor ceremony? Not just the front/stage area, but possibly also aisle/walking shots?
probably more depends on the room, but if you're going to be front lighting from the stage area back, I'd be fine with using something like this, but much more likely to want something much softer and less directional. toss a lantern on it or something to boost the entire ambient lighting
@ didn’t think about the lantern. Thanks. I typically resort to on camera flash for the aisle (when needed), but it would be nice to avoid.

Hola! El ventilador es muy ruidoso?. Muchas gracias.
Hey Benj, just a follow-up comment/question: how many of these would you recommend to be setup at a wedding (for photography) during the reception/low light situations?
Honestly, two is ideal but you might even be able to get away with one!
Do you have any problems with the dj lights already lighting the reception?
The DJ lights are almost never helpful in terms of key lighting, so unless they’re dead set on doing that, I’ll often be able to use these instead and let them to accent lighting instead.

What feet stand do you have on your Aputure! I’ve been looking for the feet to fit my LED :) x
Does a tungsten gel on the 60d produce the same light as 60x?

I just bring two and it’s always worked well
Oh, wow. Thank you kindly. Safe to assume you also bring a camera speedlite@@benjhaisch ?
@@benjhaisch I've also just been to your website -- WOW, your work is exquisite! First-class photojournalism with an editorial crispness. Lovely!
@tubeondahriver just for party dancing at the end of the night, but these are mostly for the more formal stuff
LS60x, buying one maybe 2 maybe 5
The lowest setting almost seems too bright for some indoor applications. Any inputs on this?
Sort of depends on what you need, but adding diffusion can always help.
Short stand you are using for 60x please

Does it compatible with Aputure light dome II or Mini? I know it comes with Bowens mount, but have you use it with softbox?

Man. I got the same question. But after reading comments, looks like he doesn’t reply.
Great video
Nice video have you used them in a real wedding?
Had multiple examples of them at real weddings in the video! Haha
Hey Benj! Any discounts on your LR presets for subscribers? really digging them and wanted to check before purchase. ;)
Nothing out currently! There is a perpetual one for Patreon subscribers but I don’t think we’re running any others right now
Thanks for sharing!!!
