Perdido is high tier for those moments when you want to leave the game on during a battle while fixing dinner. But why would anyone want to do that when the game is so much fun to play?
If he could swap between several different weapon classes at will he'd be one of the most fun blades to use in the game on utility alone. But nope :( Poor Perdido.
Since they didn't give Perdido the weapon switch, they could have gotten away with cramming his specials with effects. A level one that does 150% to an enemy in any driver combo stage + a crit modifier. A level two that reduces aggro + increases damage to enemies not targeting by 150% + a crit modifier A level three that annulls guard, defence, and deals 85% critical damage + the highest crit modifier on his kit The highest hit count level 4 with the neat little niche of having 4 hits from each weapon (instead of 2) They could have done so much for him
Perdido is very similar to Finch in my opinion: that being, he's a fun gimmick blade that just isn't practical in most situations. I at least appreciate that he has some fun silly strats you can do with him for high damage, but your better off using literally any of the class he's based on over him. Unlike most people I'm not actually opposed to not getting to use his other weapons: the lore reason is that he fights alongside his driver by lending them the cannon, which I think is an interesting idea.
Nah he'd still be considered an anime swordfighter. If a character uses a sword and it is not sora or dante they are an anime sowrdfighter and thus is totally not unique and fun to play.

I think the worst thing about Perdido is that if they just changed his skills just by a little bit he could potentially be an amazing blade. Specifically have his lvl 4 special have the unique effect of toppling, launching, and smashing the opponent all by itself when the opponent is broken, make his stay true apply to his auto-attack stat itself and not just double the damage (IE actually doubles the auto-attack stat making it a separate multiplier) and make his Double Strike skill proc on every hit instead of just auto-attacks (IE his specials and arts also get 2x the attacks) but also as he levels his skill up his auto-attacks will eventually be able to hit four times (Lvl 1: Guarantees arts and specials to hit twice, auto-attacks to hit two times, and increases damage dealt by 20%. Lvl 5: Guarantees arts and specials to hit twice, auto-attacks to hit four times, and increases damage dealt by 30%). This would still make him extremely unique where instead of being just an auto-attack-focused blade he'd also have damage outside of that.
Imagine if perdido was the only blade in the game you could use swap between his weapons and his arts/skills change accordingly. That would’ve been amazing . Also, “Perdido” means “Lost” in Spanish.

You know, I introduced Xenoblade to my cousin the other day, and he immediately declared the game bad because auto-attacking = the game plays itself. Yeah, he’s a little misguided. I wonder what he would think of Perdido?

I like him in theory. If I were to fix him, I would buff the first skill by giving him additional crit chance (a flat 25% at level 5) when attacking from the front, the 2nd skill by having auto-attack dmg be boosted by 400% versus 100%, and the last one give it synergy with galaxy cube like accessories for 4 auto-attacks.
For what it's worth, you can use a diamond/alexandrite as an accessory, which effectively makes each auto attack hit fully heal you, should you take non lethal hits etc.
