The best part abu greataxes on zeke never has anything to do with his driver kit, or the blades themselves. It’s the s tier line that zeke has on his lvl 4 of “welcome to axe town, population: your face.”
It would be super cool if Agate's damage increase skill was slightly higher than Dagas' but without the AOE increase of Kaiser Zone. That way both blades could be better in different situations
Also, I am SO happy the "completely random -Chuggaconroy- selection" decided to pick Agate next!! She's my all-time favorite rare blade even if she's just okay, so thank you Enel for this great guide on her!

I got her pretty early and I actually like axes on Rex. The animation of Strong Smash feels so satisfying. The only thing I don't like about her is how her chart is restricted if you get her early since you need to start her blade quest for her lvl 3? Key affinity. Even though insects are uncommon, when you switch to her while battling one, she freaks out and that's cute and funny. She actually got me through the fight in Uraya's stomach with all the Parisax: She almost one-shotted a big one that Tora toppled with my lvl 2 special by pure coincidence. She may not be the best one out there but that sure ain't keeping me from using her. Kinda like Electra. If I like a blade (let's be honest, I like all of them, even some very good common ones), I use him/her once in a while.
Agate is already a personal favorite of mine, possibly because she was my second Rare Blade right before Floren Idk she just radiates "Protect her even if she can protect herself" energy for me
Ah yes, Discount Kaiser Zone. To be fair, even if Rex isn't particularly amazing with axes, Agate is still pretty decent on him as well due to how easy it is to topple with Pyra/Mythra, and Rex having a launch art with axes
Agate was literally the last blade I got, which means by the time I got her I had Agate-but-strictly-superior. And I find her feet (or lack thereof) funny because she's also designed by Kozaki

Presumably it was due to the limitations of the 3ds, but the models in Fates (which Kozaki was also the lead character designer of), and Shadows of Valentia have feet so who knows why the Awakening characters don't have any.

She was also the last one I got too, by quite a bit - including KOS-MOS, who I got while trying to get Agate. The Gacha system is... annoying at times.
At least Agate's good, given she's one of the most common pity blades in the game thanks to hers being the group that was put in twice. Because of that I used her for a while, even on Rex. Though I also pulled the blade that outclassed her on Rex but I didn't pay attention to his affinity chart, so I didn't realize his Blade Quest made him so busted and as a result I just gave him the shaft compared to her. It also helps Agate was designed by the Fire Emblem: Awakening artist, so her design immediately caught my eye. Good Blade all around.

He's well-known for Fire Emblem Awakening and No More Heroes, among others.

Agate is just like Harold: Good in their own way, but heavily outclassed by something else. This is honestly worse than just being terrible at something. If Agate had a passive that gave her an interesting niche, she might give Dagas a run for his money.
I mean at least Herald had the decency to be outclassed by DLC blades, Agate got outclassed by a base game blade that appears higher on most pity trees than her lmao
@@Evan-mt7bc there was still a decent argument for KOS-MOS being better than Herald before the dlc blades came out. Higher special damage (not that it matters when you hit the damage cap), can heal the party with her level 2, and not being made out of tissue paper are some pretty good benefits.

Hooray, Agate, the rare blade I used most on Rex my first playthrough and probably the only reason I like axes on Rex (and T-elos I guess). I know Rex isn’t considered that good with Axes, but I like them anyway.
That's the best thing about Xenoblade Chronicles 2. You can have any blade on any driver and still make them powerful and useful. Honestly, I like that a lot
I got kos-mos very early game on nia, when i was trying for, of all blades, floren. I used a common crystal, no boosters, and nia had maybe level 2 justice. I had just started the game and had never heard of xenosaga, so i didn’t understand how rare kos-mos was, or why she was so important. Later on, when i decided i wanted to max out every rare blade’s chart, i awakened every blade… except agate. It took me a long time. I maxed out rex’s compassion. I had a stock of 99 legendary cores, i was constantly releasing common pulls to make sure i had enough compassion boosters, and via accessories, luck mods and core chips, i was able to get to 999 luck. It took me, no lie, I counted, 87 PULLS to get agate.
Agate, aka "Oh yeah that one". Considering my second blade was Dagas, Agate felt like a far inferior option. I'm not lying when I say that Agate is genuinely the only blade I've never used, purely because I've never had to. She also has basically no personallity other than "I like rocks". Definitely not high up and probably my least favourite Greataxe.
What are the supporting blades you’re using? I know common blades can be good, but I’m not sure which blade arts and skills are most useful, and which core chips are being used. I know pentagon on katanas give +50 agility but I don’t know what’s on those axes. Thanks in advance to whoever replies.

Just started playing this game and its crazy my only 2 rare blades are agate on rex and azami on nia and they are both better for zeke who i havent even met yet lol
I've always found it interesting how it appears that many of the best types of weapons for each driver fit them, to some extent. Lances are best on Morag, because the lance, as a weapon, is particularly graceful - favoring skill and speed over raw power. Perfectly fitting how Morag, as a character, fights. In contrast, Axes are best on Zeke, as they are the opposite of lances - favoring raw strength and power over grace and speed. However, there are many times where it doesn't make as much sense, such as how Zeke is good with Bitballs, and how Rex is good with the Twin Rings + their clones when more skilled combatants should theoretically do better (since Rex is a relatively inexperienced combatant compared to the others in the party outside of Tora). Back to Agate, she's decent. I've seen her put in some work, and she does a pretty good job in situations where other Greataxes may not be available. She's probably one of the better standalone blades we've discussed so far, but that can be attributed to how good Greataxes are in general thanks to Zeke (if only there was a driver that could do that with Shield Hammers). She's also a more considerable midgame to T-elos (both are blades I tend to pull quite early), as T-elos' affinity requirements are quite demanding if not unavailable for an early-game party (though I only speak from my personal experience).

Tachyon Chip is the best because it reverts rare blade weapons to their original appearance (something I wish a LOT more core chips did).

However, there are many times where it doesn't make as much sense, such as how Zeke is good with Bitballs, and how Rex is good with the Twin Rings + their clones when more skilled combatants should theoretically do better (since Rex is a relatively inexperienced combatant compared to the others in the party outside of Tora).
Back to Agate, she's decent. I've seen her put in some work, and she does a pretty good job in situations where other Greataxes may not be available. She's probably one of the better standalone blades we've discussed so far, but that can be attributed to how good Greataxes are in general thanks to Zeke (if only there was a driver that could do that with Shield Hammers). She's also a more considerable midgame to T-elos (both are blades I tend to pull quite early), as T-elos' affinity requirements are quite demanding if not unavailable for an early-game party (though I only speak from my personal experience).
