Thank you Jerry! I just resigned from a job that was making my life full of stress that was hurting my health. Not sure whats next though. Jimmy Cliff's original version is so beautiful and so is all that he sings. But this rendition touches my heart. Music is healing. Open ears and open hearts. " but I know that my faith will lead me on". Thank you Jerry.
He made an indelible impact on my life brother I was fortunate enough to see him 100 plus times. You know our love will not fade away take very good care of yourself my brother
Man do I miss watching Jerry play. Sitting here in tears blown away by what he did to this and so many other great tunes. SO blessed to have been able to have him in my life for the past 45 years! Keep on finding that footage and posting.
Even for the great Jerry Garcia, it must have been very cool to look over and hear David Grisman play a break. Good friends having a fine time, displaying their craft for all the world.
I miss Jerry and the band everyday. Since the middle 60's I've listened and lived and when times were good and when times were bad the Dead always seemed to help get me through. This song brings water to my eyes. May You Rest In Peace
Saw them together at a pub in Stanford CA ... must have been 1977. We were in the parking lot (hitched out there) and Jerry pulled in in a beat up gray BMW. Said hi to him as he walked in, and he said hi back. In those days, that was enough to send us to hippie heaven. A great combo, to be sure!! Of course, that's on top of many Dead concerts between 1972 and 1995. I miss music like this, real American music.
Beauty in sorrow, company in solitude, love in malice, good in bad. This experience is such a psychedelic paradoxical mess and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thank you so much Jerry, Dawg, and all the other artists and prophets bringing the world of ethereal and spirit to life in all of us. Love to all free peoples of Earth.
Jerry was always so comfortable playing with David. You can see it in his demeanor in videos and hear it on pizza types. That lazy, wandering but energetic acoustic Jerry tone. Beautiful
George Pavlov wanna be there and then again...blessing for what we have been given And what we shall receive... Listen to the 🎶 play And roll away the dew
Miss you Jerry, you had an incredible ear, an incredible talent musically and as a visual artist, you were my modern day Beethoven and Van Gogh, thank you, I was so fortunate to have been in the same spaces with you over the 12 years I supported you....Til we meet again...Peace
So beautiful... just what my soul needed to hear. Trippy too cuz when I first found this I was literally sitting here in limbo waiting for the tide to flow----live miles from ocean hearing wild booooooms from waves (upwards of 30ft!) pounding the shore when high tide came in... This song soothed my soul, was really magical with lightening happening right in front of me too
Beyond beautiful... Could not stop hitting the replay button. :) Wish Jerry were still here to make more beautiful music. R.I.P. Jerry, we love you, man.
Thanks so much for this piece of memory joy. I was at this show with my older brother/ best friend on the main floor right in front of these magicians. As both long time deadheads we both looked at each other just knowing what a magical moment we were enjoying!
This is beautiful! Honestly, I did not know this song was from 1971! My favorite band from the late 80s, Poi Dog Pondering covered this song, and hearing it again now, I was like, this sounds pleasantly familiar :)
I posted a long post on one of the JGB band shows from 5-192 or 4-30-92 maybe. Perhaps even 4-29-92. But these 5 Garcia-Grisman shows were in the wake of the Rodney King riots of 1992. Another significant recollection of the 5 nights in a row electric sets was that finally....FINALLY Garcia busted out with Mission In The Rain for the first time of the five night run, on the FINAL night. Somewhere near the end of the first set. That was the "every hair standing up on end" electric moment of the night, for me anyway. There's some satisfaction in the San Francisco rain !!! Indeed......oh so yes indeed.
Sitting here in limbo, like a bird without a song Sitting here in limbo, but I know it won't be long Well, they're putting up resistance But I know my faith will lead me on Sitting here in limbo waiting for the tide to flow Sitting here in limbo, knowing that I have to go Well, they're putting up resistance But I know my faith will lead me on I don't know what life will show me But I know what I've seen I can't see where life will lead me But I know where I've been Tried my hand at love and friendship But all that is passed and gone This little boy is moving on Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll Sitting here in limbo, got some time to search my soul Well, they're putting up resistance But I know my faith will lead me on I don't know what life will show me But I know what I've seen I can't see where life will lead me But I know where I've been Tried my hand at love and friendship But all that is passed and gone This little boy is moving on Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll Sitting here in limbo, got some time to search my soul Well, they're putting up resistance But I know my faith will lead me on Well, they're putting up resistance But I know my faith will lead me on
I would have been very happy if Jerry scaled back the touring just to play more Jerry Band shows and Grisman shows in SF if that would mean we would have Jerry on this Earth a little longer.
8 years later and I think that. Born in 96 I was never close to seeing him live. Found the Grateful Dead in 2015, my senior year oh high school. Became Dead two years ago... after a year of playing guitar... Jerry was IT. This band changed my life, and now I am trucking on
Great song when the chips are down & you are frustrated at how things are a going. It's not the same with Jerry gone, heavens a bit brighter by him there. Been a long strange trip, but man what a journey!
i was at this show, got a ticket outside and was lucky to attend. The most surprising thing i expereienced here at the warfield they had cocktail waitresses delivering drinks in tuxedos
damn the world sure has suffered since the loss of the souls guiding light to the empty darkness . "Jerry Garcia changed the consciousness of everything" Carlos Santana
Just returned from beautious Hawaii where, among other things, I witnessed Mookie Siegel perform the Sitting Here in Limbo with Dave Nelson and Friends at Pirate's Cove Ocean View, HI. A great time was had by all. Best wishes from Less Than Face Productions.
Excellent video and version of that song. Jerry's singing and playing was crisp and precise. And of course, David Grisman helped out, adding a lot to to the song. Would have loved to have seen this live. Thanx for posting this.

Jerry died the day before my 55th birthday and I sat on a big stone and cried when I heard the news on my radio. He is missed,,,
Living in the carribean. Whenever I get a chance I play these two for my rasta friends, and they always love em.
I have a firepit in my backyard...When I put Jerry and Dawg on, it's just magic back there...
Wish I could be there my friend..

every time i hear "this little boy is moving on", it just sends chills down my spine one of my favorite lyrics.
Jerry’s phrasing and enunciation there is also perfect
The Garcia Grisman collaborations produced some of the best music of all time. It really is sacred and mystical energy.
Even for the great Jerry Garcia, it must have been very cool to look over and hear David Grisman play a break. Good friends having a fine time, displaying their craft for all the world.
Especially on weed, man.
i'd love to hear it all mastered in its entirety

Tears every time
Yeah, Jimmy Cliff is a Genius
A sentiment many of us are destined for. I feel Jerry won't be spending much time there. Heaven can't wait for him very long.
Jerry was always so comfortable playing with David. You can see it in his demeanor in videos and hear it on pizza types. That lazy, wandering but energetic acoustic Jerry tone. Beautiful
Thank you, The Harder They Come and Jimmy Cliff. Gerry and Dave honor you here.
Struggling Man 🍄🇯🇲🍄
Remembering Jerry on the day he passed away, 21 years later.
Boy do I miss that spirit.
Thank you Jerry and David and Jimmy Cliff.
Jerry and David were pure magic together. The brotherly love they shared just shines in this music. All night long it plays! Thanks guys.

This song makes me sad and makes me really miss Jerry.
Rooster2628 we all do Rooster ❤
Rooster2628 don't be sad Jerry wouldn't want that smell the roses and cow dance 😃
Such an existential lyric. I am planning to sing this at some retirement homes.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE Rooster.

This healed me. God bless
I can’t like this song enough. In times of tribulation, hits just right. Then again there more to life than working a 9-5
It's like he's still alive and going through these emotions in thesong with me. What a wonderful sad feeling
This was a night that Jerry was Simply at His Very BEST.
Listening to this is like going on a little vacation …. So restful
You couldn't ask for a better arrangement.. 10/10

Just wonderful
One of my favorite recordings of jerry. So good
man I miss these boys jamming together.
A subtle raise of the eyebrows from Jerry at 3:12 is all Grisman needs
+rm1133 ...good observation
rm1133 it was simply his turn
Sublime.
I noticed it as well, Jerry gives him the "show em your chops Dawg" such a magical duo❤
The singing voice that can be like a warm hug or rain like fire & the guitar carries both messages
Grateful Dawgs, thanks for sharing.
Man of our soul who do put hearts into hazards..his songs are emotionally blizzard...

Beautiful version. With just an acoustic guitar, mandolin, congo drum, and an amazing voice...
This is beautiful! Honestly, I did not know this song was from 1971! My favorite band from the late 80s, Poi Dog Pondering covered this song, and hearing it again now, I was like, this sounds pleasantly familiar :)

This is truly the best cover these boys have accomplished in my book 👍👍
Sitting here in limbo, like a bird without a song
Sitting here in limbo, but I know it won't be long
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know my faith will lead me on
Sitting here in limbo waiting for the tide to flow
Sitting here in limbo, knowing that I have to go
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know my faith will lead me on
I don't know what life will show me
But I know what I've seen
I can't see where life will lead me
But I know where I've been
Tried my hand at love and friendship
But all that is passed and gone
This little boy is moving on
Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll
Sitting here in limbo, got some time to search my soul
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know my faith will lead me on
I don't know what life will show me
But I know what I've seen
I can't see where life will lead me
But I know where I've been
Tried my hand at love and friendship
But all that is passed and gone
This little boy is moving on
Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll
Sitting here in limbo, got some time to search my soul

Wow beyond speechless too how much this resonates perfectly with how I feel.

Excellent video and version of that song. Jerry's singing and playing was crisp and precise. And of course, David Grisman helped out, adding a lot to to the song. Would have loved to have seen this live. Thanx for posting this.
This was a great show seems like it was just yesterday but I guess the best memories always do.
I miss Jerry. What a great loss when he passed. I am sure he is serenading God as I type.
George McElroy Hope they are watching over us.

Jerry Garcia IS God
What a way to start the day.
I love this song so much! Grisman and Garcia were so great together!
Fabulous...;-} Great Vocals!

when it 7 seconds i almost jumped for joy, the audio is amazing..
Beautiful rendition.
Great video, reminds me of who I'm supposed to be... and maybe am. Garcia & Grisman should be a household familiarity!
In the end everything will be okay.
Omg this is literally perfect. A friend of helperman. Just saw David at Ned fest. This is a most beautiful Jerry acoustic video
BEAUTIFUL! THANK you!
Too beautiful...got so into the music I almost didn't notice my screen going off. (:
