- After a lot of hardship finding parts, test fitting, and making things fit, I've finally got a good portion of the swap done up on the motor side. Hopefully next will be the actual fitting of the trans and start finishing everything.

Take a minute and thank your Dad. It's pretty cool to see him watching over your work. Lot's of Dad's out there that aren't father material or could care less what their kids are doing. Your Dad seems like a stand up guy. A great role model
Yea you’re definitely right. He may not know that much about cars but he sure does help me and allow me to do what I do and I don’t take that for granted for a second! Mans the best.
TKO trans have a forward shifter mounting. It actually has 3 shifter positions. If your shifter is in the rearward position you can flip the shifter around. It will move the shifter 4 in forward. Under the plate in front of the shifter is another shifter location. American powertrain has the info & correct shifters for each position.
I know this is an old video, just wanted to add some info in case someone doing the swap needs it. The 157T flywheels are the Mustang/car flywheels. The 164T is the truck flywheels. The starters for the 157T & 164T are different. A Mustang starter for a manual transmission should be used with that set up.
If you buy a new bellhousing, it's a good idea to purchase the matching block spacer plate for the bell you buy. The block spacer you installed is for the scatter shield bell housing. It is designed to work with the scatter shield bell housing.
Those scatter shield bells need to be checked with a dial caliper & centered/located by using offset block doll pins. Failing to do so, can lead to clutch/transmission problems.
That transition at 5:55 was smooth.
Haha right??
Did you have dowel pins in your block to align the bell housing? It looked like the bell housing was moving around quite a bit when you were bolting it up. (Like they might have been missing.) There should be 2 dowel pins in the block to align the bell housing. Sometimes the stay with the block. Sometimes they stay in the bell housing when disassembled. Make sure you have them or your trans won't line up with the crank.
i cant wait to see this thing built and ready to go
Dowel pins line up the pressure plate not the disc, should use a clutch alignment tool for the disc while you tighten the PP. Also I hope you cleaned that flywheel and PP surface well, any dirt and oils (even from your fingers) can cause you problems, slipping, chattering ect.
+1 with motecalevol said, didn't notice if you had the bock to bell dowels. In any case take care installing the trans, if it don't seem to want to go in DON'T try and draw it in using the Bolts, you can damage the trans.
Craig 909 thanks for all the content on your F-100 , I'm currently working on a project of my own a 91 F-150 and you inspire me to get it done. I currently have a 351 W and a C6 trans but I want to go the 5 speed route it's also has been lowered 6" in front and 8 " in the rear on 15x12" steelies and 245/40/15 tires.
Don’t know if anyone followed my comments throughout Craig’s “old” videos about my 77’ j10, but here’s a update. Got all back together, 79’ 360 V8, t18 4 speed trans, and a blown up Dana 20 t-case. Dumped a whole lot of money into the engine to run HEI ignition and everything (fucking amazing by the way), took it to smog and one number was WAY off, so I started with a compression check and cylinder one is dead. But, on the bright side, that plus the new 33x12.50 KM2’s I’m running gets me just over 20mpg, it doesn’t like hills, but it still gets it on flat or down hill
Red Loctite is the ONLY way to go on those flywheel and pressure plate bolts. Heat from the clutch would cause blue Loctite to come loose. As you said, you don't want that thing coming apart.
Modern driveline! The "S10 tailshaft" moves the shifter forward. Thstd what I'm ordering for my 60 F100
Man you should've kept that original 3 on the tree shifter, total nostalgia and much more fun!
looks nice
Loving the series, keep it up man!
the video is great and you and ur friends did a great job as well
6:15 you hear "rotten to the core" what the? Lol. Good vid!
Hey Craig I'm 14 I live in Texas I'm getting a 78 ford f250 extended cab with a 440 big block and I luv your truck I want one like yours one day
Cut out the hump then get a hole saw for the shifter. That is the best way to do it
You don't know rust, you should work on a Minnesota truck
I know right, I just put new floors in my Iowa truck. you could have Flinstone it before I fixed it, and I didnt have cab mounts anymore ither.
Agree same in buffalo trucks rot bad
I bet, you guys get a lot of snow
Washington state is pretty bad too but I'm sure not as bad as Minnesota
Yeah we do I just wish they didn't use salt in the road even Cars that are like even newer if you don't get them sprayed with oil they rust out
Nice, I enjoy your videos
Put a short throw shifter kit it will shorten your through and it can relocate your shifter if you want
Your old fly wheel can be resurfaced, and a new ring gear put on. Not junk.
YES
nice f100 bro! miss the c10);
Can you please let me get a link to the clutch kit you went with? Thanks
You guys should do a performance comparison test on your buddies 40 ford before he puts on that tri power intake
Craig, I hope your new flywheel has the same imbalance as the old one. Ford went from 28 ounce external balance to 50 during the 1980 model year on the 302.
It’s the correct one👍🏼 I was aware and that’s why I took awhile to check.
hell yeah bass pro hat lol
I have a 1972 f100 with a 302 in it and I was wondering what exhaust and headers do you have on yours
Can i Dock a t5 to a Ford 360 ?
12:37 thats an alabama flywheel
Why didn't you clean the flywheel before you put the clutch on
Was it auto originally ?
So it sounds like you're stripping your F100 to build the Crown Vic truck?
Why dont you get a shifter relocation kit?
Because I want to run buckets anyways so I actually like where it sits
Why didn't you use a clutch alignment tool before you tighten down the pressure plate I bet you had a hell of a time trying to stab that shaft in there....
what do you want for the ford 9 ich
Maybe I missed it. Are you running a TKO and not a mustang 5 speed? Wanting to ditch my 3 speed with the sloppy floor shift in a bad way but hate spending like $2500 for trans
So are you taking this f100 and putting it on the crown Vic or anouther f100
What ever happened to the old jeep truck the black one your friend had you helped him get it running
He’s getting paperwork for it.
R.I.P flywheel surface
You removed a "LONG" style clutch and are installing a diaphragm style clutch.
Gotcha.
Any update on a future project or what your considering looking at?
I think I have a deal set I just have to get my truck driving first so I can put it in my back yard
Ok. I didnt think about the truck blocking the path to back yard. Should be cool. This trucks gonna be killer!
What are you going to do about the Column shifter?
Probably take the arm out and just leave the collar
What are you currently driving when your truck is apart
I bought a little focus as a daily for $1000 lol
Cool
Do not remove the 3 in the tree
What headlights is in your truck?
That's a good question
I couldn’t tell you but he has a video about putting them in
I believe they were for a Jeep if I remember correctly
They’re a 7” Jeep headlight from auxbeam. They’re on they’re website 👍🏼
For being an owner of truck with 3 on the tree. What are some of the things you don't like about it?
Did you line the clutch up
I’m also the guy from face book
Thats what the dowel pins do.
The dowel pins line up the pressure plate only you need an alignment tool for the clutch disc
He used to alignment tool, if not the clutch would have fell out from behind the pressure plate. Rewind to 18:00.
Yes I used the alignment tool. And I had dowel pins in the flywheel that aligned the pressure plate
That rust is weak
U need a different camera
What you call rust I call laughable if that was in ohio the floors would be gone on that old of a truck.
