    Tom, you are cementing this channel’s place as the best Australian morning channel. Thoughtful and intelligent reviews are the channel’s hallmark and increasingly set it apart from others. I actually like the length of the reviews, as that is necessary to take it beyond the superficial and fit in all of the factual content, plus your opinions.
    For me, Savagegeese was historically the motoring channel of choice. Your channel is a worthy competitor with your own style and philosophy, which I think will drive up your subscriber numbers into the hundred of thousands. Great work and thanks!

    Just drove the Taycan 4S down to Jindabyne from Sydney and back in two days. Stopped at a couple of the EV charge points to see how they went.
    Firstly the main point that struck me was the ride. It’s truly amazing. I agree that the brakes and steering feel like an ICE car. Very natural. The other thing is just how quick this thing is to accelerate in real world conditions. It’s like there are normal cars, and you are in the Delorean, capable of bursts of warp speed. There is just such a vast difference. EV torque is the future.
    Lastly, I feel that a 600km range is required to take away range anxiety. We had to wait/queue in Goulburn for the ultra rapid charger. Not for long, but enough to remind you that this nascent technology and infrastructure.
    Great review Tom.

    I appreciate your thorough car reviews. I have to say though your statement that "it's the best EV currently on the market" may be true but it's in a very niche market an not built for the masses. I was wondering if you have a preference for the best "affordable EV" on the market in the 40-60k US price range? Thanks.

    I like your channel. Very informative and it’s good to have another Aussie car review channel. I do think a lot of your videos are too long though. If I were actually buying this car then the longer the better. But I’m watching for entertainment purposes and I assume most are the same. I reckon anything over 15 minutes is too long. Just my 2c. Keep up the great work.

      I solve this problem by watching at 1.25 or 1.5 speed . I do love a detailed review though. Especially when you own a car or trying to get one and comparing with another . That said anything within 13-20 mins is a sweet spot for me

    Strange that the Manufacturer warranty of 3 years doesn't match the battery warranty of 8 years. Porsche should really stand by their product a lot more and give their customers better reassurance, especially when they are spending upwards of close to half a million dollars for a tricked out, custom, top spec Taycan Turbo S.

    EV's should have low servicing intervals and cost, trust Porsche to still require it every 2 years which you'll also need a new set of tyres as a 2.3 tonne vehicle with instant torque will most likely require and the servicing cost will be way more than a combustion engine.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  2 года назад

      A two-year check strikes us as fairly sensible, though - and you’re right that EVs need new tyres more often than combustion vehicles due to their weight. Some scary bald tyres getting around Sydney under Tesla Model Xs…

    So, I'm going to get flamed for even mentioning this in a review on what is ostensibly a sports car, but it's worth noting that when the rear seat base is inclined like that, while you might be able to fit a rear facing baby seat, it is not ideal. This is because the incline means the babies' head falls forward onto the chest and presents a bit of a danger or is uncomfortable.

    • @Alby911
      @Alby911 2 года назад +1

      Not all safety car seats are the same, for newborn safety car seats will have at least 3 adjustable positions for recline/incline. Booster seats generally have two. And it's always advisable to fit the safety seat before purchase if possible. Safety isn't something that's taken lightly; Porsche would have done their homework.

    If the car is too expensive for 99% of people then it is not helping the greenhouse effect that is happening to the planet... that is one of the main reasons electric cars are a good idea... this car is counter-intuitive.

      What? Just because the average person can't afford a Taycan doesn't stop them from buying other electric cars. Affordability doesn't make the Taycan, or any other expensive electric car less friendly to the environment.
