- Is the Porsche Taycan better with rear-wheel drive?
The Taycan has been a massive hit for Porsche since it launched a year ago, but there is still room to expand the range.
The latest addition is the new entry-level rear wheel drive variant that cuts $40,000 from the Taycan’s opening price.
It’s still quite expensive, but rear-wheel drive dynamics adds a fun factor that’s missing from some of its siblings.
In this video, Tim Nicholson highlights everything you need to know about the new Taycan.

Probably one of the most enjoyable reviews of a car I've seen in a long time.
The fact that you didn't go "Aaah" after every sentence warmed me to your professionalism.
From some of the angles driving around the bends this looks like a Nissan 300z with the pop up lights.
What a wonderful review. Some reviewers have mentioned that the car feels heavier without the air-suspension.
Base is all you need. Lovely proportions and I even like the spec with the light interior and the ruddy red exterior though that light blue is fantastic as well. Lottery win / once I get a real job car for me
Very helpful
Is it weird that I like the wheels on this base car better than those on more expensive versions?
Every Porsche made has crazy expensive options, even when these items are standard on almost every other car.
If you want to be part of this expensive rarefied car brand, you will have to pay the price or not join this exclusive good old boys network! If you love letting everyone see that you own more than one Rolex, then I would not recommend showing up at the Country Club in anything less than a Taycan “Turbo”! No base models allowed there.
The weels and tyres good for offroading. Need a lift kit i reckon.
Taycan is pronounced with emphasis on first syllable not second syllable. Please pronounce this correctly.
How many times can one guy say Taycan in one video?
You should see the edit room floor…
No but seriously, brands like Porsche (not alone in this) naming their base variant the same name as the actual model really does make it hard.
@@carsguide classic.
And say it incorrectly.
$2995. 00 servicing every two years 🤣
Crazy huh? And there is really nothing to service. I think they recommend the brake pads be replaced around the 5 year mark as they rarely get used thanks to the regenerative braking.
I'm just looking for cheap ones.😂😂😂
I love it but it’s literally 2.5X the price of nearest competition the Tesla model 3 RWD. (Driveaway no Options)
I’ve driven both and the Porsche is more desirable but not TWICE as good.
Looks 5X better, that's for sure.
Porsche is not a leader in the electric car tech. Can you call a 2.2 ton a sport car??
Besides Expect the repair cost of powertrain is way more than the average cost of Porsche ICE after the warranty expired.
Just get a Macan instead if you want the Porsche badge.
One of the most desirable cars on the road? Haha I don't think so. There's a long list of cars ahead of that I'd rather have.
This is suck a nitpicking review that I feel annoyed similar to when I’m being nagged by a significant other.
