  • The Audi A3 2022 model range mightn't be the most desirable choice for a lot of customers in this SUV crazy world, but it lives up to its predecessor models by offering a solid option for buyers who want a luxury, German, smartly styled and sharply priced sedan or hatchback.
The 2022 Audi A3 sedan and Sportback hatch have seen big changes - there's heavily refreshed styling, a new interior with different trims, finishes and a new-look layout, and of course the brand with "tech" as part of its tag-line, there's new connectivity, safety technology, and the powertrains have seen some changes, too.
One of them is a mild-hybrid unit in the base model A3 35 TFSI, while the higher-spec 40 TFSI is more aimed at customers who want a bit more performance, a quicker 0-100 time, but maybe can't justify the spend on the S3 (see our previous review of that car here: • 2022 Audi S3 sedan and...
And don't go thinking that A3 customers miss out on the brand's famed 'quattro' all-wheel drive system - it features, too.

    Great review David !
Very easy to listen to and also comprehensive.
I think the sedan in 2 Litre form is the pick.
I have recently purchased a 2021 Mazda 6 Atenza Turbo Sedan in Sole Red Crystal Metallic.
Such a great vehicle, looks, performance, safety, quiet and extremely well built.
It would be appreciated if you could do a review of this vehicle.
    All the best mate.
    Cheers John

14:30 In Europe we can buy version without mild hybrid, with manual and 1.5 tfsi. And it's very cool to drive :) Only it consumes a bit more fuel (5.8l/100 I've from normal 50/50 ratio city/non-urban roads)

Just ordered .my 3rd A3 . I had a 2016 Sport saloon in Mythos Blackfrom new and then a hatchback(sportback) in Atol blue. I'm going for a black.saloon again. test drive an A4 . Nice and plush and comfortable , but to me not worth the extra cost.

I’m in the UK and going to buy a new 2024 Audi A3 in Sportback /hatchback .
I didn’t know in Australia the car steering wheel is on the right side as in the UK .

This is great car when it’s still new. Unfortunately it’s designed to be put in crusher after around a decade.

Why do you think that? Any particular reason?

@@DTBIDTB Its based on my own personal experience with VAG products and many expert mechanics who almost without exception are critical of VAGs engineering when it comes to reliability and longevity. I really like the design, finish, tech and the driving dynamics, it’s a shame the rest is so poor. For an example, look up the ReDriven video on the Audi Q7 to see what I mean.

@@GlowingTube I have been hearing this quite a lot from multiple people and I don't know why but the story doesn't correlate to mine at all. My family has been a life long VAG supporter and for good reason. Before I was born they owned an Audi A80 which managed to rack up 800k kilometers with few faults. Later on we got the Golf 3 1.9 TDI which is still running and is close to hitting 650k, repairs were always minimal. Then we made a switch to Peugeot and that made us like VAG even more (The car was a nightmare to own in terms of mechanical failures). The next car in line is Audi A4 2.0 TDI 16v which by what the internet says is the worst VW diesel of all time but once again, I cannot testify to that. The car is nearing 400k km and there's nothing wrong with it, like literally nothing. That's what made us buy the A3 2.0 TDI 2021, hopefully it will keep the legacy going. So my story is completely different, no idea why, me and my family drive like any other person, the only thing we do different is more freaquent oil changes because I myself think Audis oil change intervals are way too long. And in terms of the transmission all of the cars are manual, but that doesn't make a difference either. So either I get all the best built cars or people run their cars into the ground and then complain about mechanical failures.

      @GlowingTube 2 года назад

@@DTBIDTB My experience is the polar opposite. I had 2 VWs from new and drove them carefully and maintained them perfectly even with more frequent oil changes. Mine were going wrong all the time with easily 50 electrical and mechanical failures between them over a 6 year period. I just gave up on VAG after that.

@@GlowingTube Where are you from? Maybe the quality control between the manufacturing houses are different. Most VAG cars imported into Croatia come from either Hungary or directly from Germany.

I had one for 6 months and rejected it over endless issues with MMI and SOS warning light, plus some other quality issues. I loved the design, it was a Tango red with 19 inch wheels, sunroof and black optic pack, but the quality just wasn’t there. Also the interior was very plasticky and full of horrible piano black which scratches and swirls even if you breathe on it….

From start of 2022 they repaired problems with MMI. In my model year 2023 it didn't frozen even once for first 1000 km. Piano black there's only on lights switch (you put auto and don't bother it) and on gear selector with automatic transmission - and here it's a problem. Still you can buy from Aliexpress foil to cover it or... buy a manual with no piano black there. Is it plasticky? Yes, BMW and Merc has got better materials, but A3 still is better than other rivals (Golf, Leon, Skoda, Ford) in class.
