  • Pulling out almost all the tricks Meshmixer has to offer on this design. Took about 1 hour to design two crowns. Playing at 5x speed. Cerec Primescan Acquisition, no retraction cord.
This technique uses Boolean Difference, which in my opinion works, but tends to be fairly technique sensitive. Alternatively, see my video about emergence profile. • Meshmixer - Advanced C...
    Sequence is approximately as such
    1) Clean up mesh as needed
    2) Draw Margins
    3) Ditch the model
    4) Separate the dies
    5) Draw the secondary margin
    6) Duplicate the dies for (i) a minimum thickness model and (ii) spacer model
    7) In minimum thickness die- offset ~1.0-1.5mm and smooth as needed
    8) In spacer die - offset ~0.11mm with ~0.5-1.0mm smooth transition
    9) In spacer die - extrude die walls outwards 1-2mm (will help remove horizontal flash after boolean difference in step (12)
    10) Design crowns as needed, check occlusion and interprox contacts
    11) Taper the crown so that apically it is narrower than the dies
    12) Boolean Difference the Crowns and the Spacer dies
    13) Check the margins, collect facegroups into internal and external surfaces - With face group filter activated, smoothen external surfaces, and magnet tool the internal surfaces to the original die/ preparation as needed.

If you are using exocad than one can follow the work flow of exocad and similarly do a crown faster and accurately.
Once you know all the steps of exocad then it becomes easier. If you can try and make a vidio for the benefit of many, who does not have access to exocad.
Thank you for inspiring many like me to use meshmixer for designing all kinds of dental restorations. For every day practical use. I think all what exocad does can be done in meshmixer, someone Like you can help design dental restorations in a more efficient way.
May all be happy and at ease, free from dis-ease.
Hope some one would make vidios step by step showing how to design in Meshmixer all the restorations one by one which is done in exocad, 3shape etc.

hey, you can add what you click in turn / what keys you use, because you can mess around in the objects you do

This is scary, in a positive way. Surely not productive by any means unless you are trying to prove your abilities to yourself... still, nice job :)

Right, this was just an exercise to see if it is possible in Meshmixer. It is terribly not productive designing dies with spacers from scratch.

The things which can be done for the first time in an hour or two, can surely be done in 10 to 20 minutes once the correct steps are known and practiced properly.
Living sanely and intelligently is the secret.
Thank you for your effort and time to make this vidio. Keep on experimenting you are an inspiration to many who know your intelligence.
