Thank you for reactions to the late great Warren Zevon! This was on the last album he made after finding out he was going to lose his battle with cancer.
"Keep Me In Your Heart" was Warren's way of saying goodbye to his loved ones,, friends & all of his fans..My fond memories of Warren & his music remain in my heart.❤
Warren wanted to record a final album before he died,, He was loved by many other musicians & when they heard about what Warren was trying to do,, Many would come to play/help him finish the album,, Which he did,, But unfortunately he would pass away before it was released..R.I.P. Warren..Thanks For ALL You Gave Us..Gone But Definitely Not Forgotten. 🙏❤️
Warren was dying of mesothelioma, literally running out of breath. The lyrics hit harder knowing that. I think you can hear it a little in his voice. His album Life’ll Kill Ya (2000) is excellent.
Hearing this song never fails to bring tears to my eyes knowing how close to death he was when he recorded it. For more of his farewell, I highly recommend checking out his last appearance on the David Letterman show.

This was Warren's goodbye. You should watch the documentary on his last album by the same name, "Keep Me In Your Heart." ♥
You’ve just listened to one of the best songwriters and musicians of the last 50 yrs

Very emotional, for sure. Yes he knew. He was dying of some type of cancer and was trying to write one last album.
