Had the good fortunate to meet Desi Jr. at a Lucille Ball Festival in Jamestown, NY. Was able to get pics with him, autograph, and brief conversation. Wonderful memory.

Desi Jr turned his life completely around. He was an extremely good looking young man in the 1970s, which was a very hedonistic time, and struggled to find his footing. Who didn’t? So did I! God bless him, he’s done so well.
I admire Desi for kicking the habit, being a former addict myself, I fully understand what he went through, it's very hard to get off that merry-go-round but it can be done.

My favorite memories of Desi Jr. is Dino, Desi, and Billy! I was a huge fan, and I have remained a fan of him and his bandmates to this day! I had a poster of Dino, Desi, & Billy on my bedroom wall. I have the same bday as Desi Jr, but I'm a few yrs younger. Desi Jr was so gorgeous. But-I was madly in love w Dino Jr. A drop dead gorgeous blonde. Felt so bad for his family when he died. I think Dino Sr wished he could've gone w his son. He seemed like he didn't care about life anymore. I watched everything Desi Jr was in. He was as talented as he was handsome. So sad to hear about his wife & granddaughter passing. Always wondered what happened to him? Relieved & happy he got his life together. I recall back then he seemed to be in one scandal after another. For awhile it was even assumed that he had fathered Patty Duke's son Sean-whose dad was the great "Gomez Addams"-John Astin. Desi Jr became more known for his player ways than his talent back then. Always knew about Lucille Ball being nothing like Lucy Ricardo. But-consider how her husband abused their relationship-cheating, boozing, & plenty of verbal abuse. I hope Desi Jr gets through losing his wife & granddaughter & has faith in God to get through it all.

Hello Stranger always makes me cry but I always love to listen to it. Your voice is beautiful and so are your songs. Ms. Lewis, you are a gift to the world.
The little boy shown talking to Dinah Shore was not Desi Arnaz Jr, I believe that was Keith Thibodeaux who played Little Ricky on "I Love Lucy." I'm very glad Desi Arnaz Jr was able to get past his addiction problems, I feel so badly for all the tragedies he's seen, I wish him the peace he so deserves.
Yes, I thought the same thing. Also, Thibodeaux was never mentioned in the I Love Lucy credits. Sad since all others were... "So & So was played by So & So" but Keith was totally ignored and I never understood why.
His name was considered too unpronoucable for American audiences at the time. So he was billed as Richard Keith..if u google u will see him. All grown up lol
I grew up with his wife, Amy Bargiel, in Las Vegas. Her mom was our Brownie leader. She was an amazing ballet dancer and danced with Nevada Dance Theatre (now Nevada Ballet Theatre.) When I was an adult, I took her adult ballet class at UNLV. She started a wonderful ballet school in Boulder City, which I visited. She and Desi Jr. made each so very happy. I could not believe it when I heard of her passing.
What has become of Linda Pearl? I was always quite taken with her beauty, but mostly her acting! I hope Desi Jr has peace in his life now. We all struggle to enjoy the simple things in life and distance from rat race.
That was such a lovely story to read, I truly never knew much at all of the personal lives Of my teen idol's, so how lovely you shared this as it's beautiful they had such love. Desi Snr and young Desi gave me so much happiness and though on a TV screen in Australia, I could escape for a bit in my favourite star's shows!👍👵🇦🇺
He Lives in my town Boulder City Nevada!!! Just outside Vegas by Lake Mead!! I love this town it's so quiet and cool with so many desert trails nights are magical. Desi owns a theater here and a dance studio God bless him 😊💜🕯🌲
Awe .. I had the privilege of sitting in on a presentation at a Whole Life Expo Convention in Los Angeles , where he discussed his struggles with substance abuse ..I found him to be very sincere and honest about improving his well-being and helping others . He seemed kind of sad ..he is a sweet heart ..He was on a quest for self-realization..
My memory of Desi Arnaz Jr. was, Wow what a handsome young man. I love his rock group Dino, Desi. He was very talented. Sorry to hear of his wifes passing. Wishing you all the very best Desi
Desi Jr. lived in the same apartment building as my mom did in Beverly Hills, & one day I was asked by a valet worker to take his car keys to him to his apartment, that was exciting he answered &I gave him his keys. I enjoyed watching "I Love Lucy."
Wow Barbara. So nice to see you comment here ! I had to go back and listen to Baby I’m Yours….your contribution to that beautiful period of time is grand. I hope you are well and wishing you the very best 😊
I loved when he guest hosted SATURDAY Night Live years ago. He’s very talented and he recently co executive produced “Being The Ricardos”. . We all have difficulty as teens and young adults regardless of who our parents are. It seems to me he turned out to be a very fine man.
The little boy in the scene with Dinah Shore was not Desi Junior. It was the little boy who played the part of little Ricky Ricardo on the sitcom. Also, Amy had a daughter before she was married to Desi Jr. Haley was not his child.
Love him, what an amazing man. Bless him and his family. We all have a story, know one has any right to judge another. God bless him and his family. 💜💜💜
Definitely that kid is the boy that played little ricky. He has a bunch of different last names, LOL! The last name they used on I Love Lucy is definitely not his real name. I think he was credited as Keith Richards on I Love Lucy which is a made-up name.
Saw Desi jr when he and his band appeared at a concert in Salem Oregon. “Dino, Desi and Billy”. He was handsome, that’s for sure!! So glad his life is better. We human beings are so complex….. ✌️❤️⭐️
I was sooo jealous of Marcia Brady when she got that kiss! I adored the Family! Still do and wish Desi Jr blessings and happiness for all the joy my life has had from the escape to this world of entertainment. Thank you, love to you and those you care for Desi ♥️👵🇦🇺
I was a busy Iowa Farmer's Wife in the late 60's and had 4 children after 8 years. What was TV? I was lucky to see "Dark Shadows" and "General Hospital" and only glimpses as that s when I came home from chores and made dinner for my kids and husband his lunch for his second job. I know I missed alot, A life on the country is a job sun to sun and for more work with 2 hours a day of sleep for 14 years! Oh it was a challenge but I was young then.We had a beautiful home and 2 Acres of land to care for. We had a business and I wouldn t trade it for the city life.We had everything we needed. Love and our friendly helpful neighbors we loved and cherished.
I miss him terribly and would love to have one more meet with him. I met him in 1974 and wished that I would have told him how whenever I would see him, I only saw him, not his parents, his money, his fame nor anything else, just him. Nothing else even came to light…..but him. I hope that he knows how special and talented HE is, and that I cannot be the only one who feels this way.
It's so hard to be the child of famous parents. The kids feel they have to live up to some image. Desi was so handsome and I'm happy he is now okay and living what I hope is a good life in Colorado.
I know Desi Arnaz Jr. I danced for the ballet company in the city he lives/lived in. He was always a very nice man. Amy was my first ballet teacher when I was just 3 years old. The dance studio was always filled with I Love Lucy memorabilia. Growing up with him in my life, I never saw him as a celebrity or the son of celebrities, I just saw him as Mr. Desi, the man who was always super cool and was willing to come in and give us advice. You could talk to him about anything.
They did a television special a few years ago about their famous parents. You could actually sense quite a bit of distance between them. You could sense that they hadn't spent a lot of time together for quite awhile, and they had very different feelings about the past. It felt "awkward".

Ironic that you put the kid who played “little Ricky” in some of the shots that were referring to Desi - once again proving out the original problem. Had to be hard growing up in the spotlight!
Thanks for sharing the historic hotel of Desi and Lucy. We have the Lucy and Desi Museum in Jamestown N.Y. Lucy was born in Jamestown. So the folks there are very proud of her.
I can't believe you didn't even mention Dino, Desi and Billy!!! They were very popular for a short while and we teens were crazy over them-Especially Dino!
@@lisam8402 I also studied with Christina Carson when Amy did. (you and I probably knew each other as well!) Amy and I went on to dance in Nevada Dance Theater under Vasilli Sulich and we kept in touch through the years. She married Gary Charf and brought baby Haley to my wedding shower in 1977. Good times! She taught ballet in her studio in Boulder City when I taught in mine in Las Vegas. I went to a few of the productions she put on in the Boulder City Theater she and Desi Jr. purchased and her students were absolutely charming. Amy was indeed a sweet person and I miss her every day.
Linda Belew Wow what a history. I took from Virginia Lee but Christina Carson was known for ballet. I was taking class from Teddy Wolff at Backstage and Amy was too. Then I moved to NYC and she married Gary soon after. What a small world. Nevada Dance Theatre had excellent dancers and I went to all their performances at Judy Bailey. Nice memories!
Fun stuff, thank you so much for sharing your life story. We're very happy to know that you had a fun time with Desi. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
He really didn't throw it all away, he just made a course correction. I remember seeing him in 1986 or so on a Minneapolis talk show, and all he wanted to do was talk about the New Life thing. He got increasingly ticked off at the host, Gene Rump, for asking about his famous parents. I twigged then that he was fanatical about his guru because he was consumed with the battle of his life. _For_ his life.
Emma; c’mon now. I’m sure you’ve tossed some things/people that you regretted doing so after the fact. We’ve ALL done stupid shit. Wtf are you to be mistake free? Sitting in judgment when you’ve no right to. Grow TF up Bruh. And, wtf does his looks have to do with anything? As in, he’s too good looking to have problems? Such a shame eh Lancaster? Hope you’re doing well too Doll.
Thank You for sharing. We all have challenges in our lives it is how we handle them that gets us through it. Also if we have family and friends that help us through it.
My heart breaks for him because of the life he was brought up in. The odds weren't in his favor. Alcoholism is genetic and many problem drinkers have addiction and dysfunctional family lives. I can imagine the pressure he lived with being the son of an alcoholic and very famous parents. It's great knowing he got sober. All the money you could ever want, won't give you peace if you were raised by people who have major issues, and such dysfunctional lives.
I was the oldest of 4 children raised in Such a dysfunctional family in LA, Hollywood & now well into My Senior yrs & I'm Still Somewhat Wresting with that Family of origin dysfunctional insanity almost on a daily basis... Thank you, Ilene, for sharing
I liked Desi's appearance on The Brady Bunch when Cindy accidentally gave Marcia's diary to a second hand bookstore for a fundraiser. Marcia had written about how she was crazy about Desi Arnaz Jr. and was worried about other people reading what she wrote. A nice episode all around.
Thank goodness Carol and Cindy found that diary and also that Alice was friends with Lucy’s housekeeper. Alice really came thru for Marcia like she pretty much always did!
This is a true story! In April of 1981, I went to Las Vegas my best friend and I went to Las Vegas on vacation. I also wanted to visit my other friend who moved there the year before. I met a guy at a dance club called, Jublication. That guy told me he could get me into a movie playing an extra. Of course, I said, sure! The main character in the movie was Desi Arnez Jr. It was 40 years ago this year so my memory of it may be off as far as Desi being the actor or director or possibly both. I was a person in the audience of this movie where we all had to scream because a car was coming into the audience. That was my part. We had to do it over and over again and I remember Desi seemed very in edge. I mean, extremely so. He seemed like he may have been high on something. Possibly cocaine or methamphetamine, but I'm not sure but he was not acting normal. He was very handsome at the time in 1981. I got paid $35.00 for working through the night as an extra. I can't remember the name of the movie but it didn't make it on the big screen or any screen as far as I know.

@@suzanne1430 -- Are You serious or are you facetious? Little Ricky on I Love Lucy was played by 5 different children and none of them are Desi Jr. I only have a name for 1. Five Little Rickys: 1. Newborn shown only once as Desi holds baby on his shoulder and Vivian enters to see baby and then Desi does a Remember When? to lead into a rerun. 2. Infant. Shown when the Ricardos still lived in the smaller apartment. 3. and 4. Toddler. Played by a set of identical twins. We see them when the Ricardos move to the bigger apartment and while they’re in Hollywood and in Europe and Lucy’s mother keeps the baby. 5. 3 years old and up. Until end of series. Keith Thibodeaux. Desi couldn’t pronounce Thibodeaux, so he was billed as Richard Keith. He was chosen for the role partly because of his ability to play the drums. He and Desi Jr were BFFs. I heard the girls screaming and they were headed down the street our hotel was on. I bolted to the balcony to see him and the sliding glass door was closed-I knocked my self out. BUT not before I caught a glimps of him. I though I had died and gone to heaven
Being the son of such a powerful celebrity couple would be tough. So very sad that his wife died of a brain tumor. I didn't even know he was married. He and his wife looked very happy together. I'm sure the media following him around didn't help his situation as a young man. He is very handsome like his father.
I am sorry for kids who grow up really poor in this country: Homeless, little food, education or anything. Also they do not have green lights for getting into professions that will make them lots of money. Poor Desi Jr. probably inherited millions from both his father and his mother - as well as the prestige that being their son afforded him.
There's nothing wrong with people having empathy for other's "rich or poor" we all suffer (differently, yes) but we do suffer. Being privileged doesn't make addiction easy, addiction eventually swallows up all your money and by then you have wore out your welcome with your family and friends. It destroys your life, It steals a great portion of yourself psychologically and health wise. Most people age very quickly. When the person doing these drugs finally caves in and asks for help -It's not going to be in and out of the Rehab Center. Getting off these drugs are hell. hmmmmm So, you were saying Privileged??? Except from waking up in a cleaner room with cleaner clothes on - Providing you don't die because your body just finally wore out from the stress and strain. I would say, It could of been tragic, But was one of the lucky ones.
He became an addict okay he had no co trolls but his granddaughter died from breast cancer at age 31 His parents divorced and an identity crisis because of the "Little Ricky i.d.". What is wrong with you?
I always wondered why Desi Arnez Jr. didn't play the role of "Little Ricky on the "I Love Lucy show. The little boy who played "Little Ricky, also played on "The Andy Griffith Show as one of Opie's pals. Desilu Productions is the studio the "The Andy Griffith Show was filmed. Desi Jr. looks a lot like his father at 8:52 when his dad was older. Everyone has issues in their lives. Problems don't go away, no matter how much money you have.
My absolute favourite “memory clip” was from Desi and Lucy’s first shows where he is in his crib and being told a wonderful story, by Desi, of Little Red Riding Hood, in Spanish!! It still brings tears to my eyes. I wish him all the best!
Labor laws to protect infant children are such that at the child can only be under the hot camera lighting a short time. To shoot the complete screen it is broken into short parts and twins are switched in and out of the shots so the child is not under the light to long but the scene can be shot rapidly anyway. In order to use their own child Lucy would have had to have given birth to twins.
I will never forget how he sat in the audience while Patty Duke accepted her Emmy for My Sweet Charlie. Her very strange actions and how he was looking at her.
I remember him from House of the Long Shadows when I was a kid. It was the only horror movie my mother let me watch because of him... and Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee...
My favorite and only memory of Desi Jr was talking to him in the Holiday Inn lobby in Omaha. He waa in the band Dino, Desi and Billy, and in town traveling with "Dick Clark Caravan of Stars" back in the early 60's.,I always had a "crush" on Dino Martin,jr, but when I saw him in the lobby, he seemed to have his nose in the air and kept walking by., Desi, however, was very poliet, stopped to chat with me and my sister. My dad knew the manager at the hotel, so he would let us knew who was staying there when the Caravan came to town! Fun memories!
I watch this carefully with my daughter. Her father left us with no warning. It crushed her and has been having trouble finding her "new identity" after the wrath. His family didn't help because they wouldn't acknowledge any wrongdoing on his part. So she is full of mixed messages; she knows what he did was wrong. She's tired of hearing it's okay. She feels it will never be okay. But it's hard to have so much upward battle, when your whole world has fallen around you from such a young age.
Did you know that he had an illegiate child when he was about 15 y/o? Seems as nobody mentions that. That child grew up without a father. Now that's sad. 😦
It's tough on kids growing up in their famous parents shadow..Lucy and Desi were the late 50's and sixties..and had success into the 70's and early 80's..lol. especially Lucy. Not easy being their children, but it's great to know he's overcome his addictions and has moved forward quite well.
Poor Desi! It's so hard growing up privileged. All that wealth, comfort, fame, good looks. It's suggest a burden. I don't know how anyone manages to cope!
Desi Jr.Arnez looked just like his father and was an incredible young man..a people pleaser and was on many of his mom and dads shows..loved watching the shows with little Rickey playing on it and the Murmans..
I first fell for Desi Jr. when he was in the Dino, Desi and Billy Singing Group. I hadn’t heard of him after the band. Pretty much what I’d expected of him. Too much TV acting when so young, seems to bring out the worst in Celebrity’s Children. I hope he is at peace the rest of his life.
Apart from the deaths in his family that we must all go through at some stage of our lives he's had a pretty good life tbf. It doesn't really matter what your family is like or the social status we all have issues to deal with and overcome and in that sense he's had a very good life compared to many.
The footage of Arnaz Jr as a small child is not him. It’s actually Keith Thibodeaux who played little Ricky on I Love Lucy. They both played drums but only Thibodeaux appeared on the I love Lucy show. He would eventually appear on the Here’s Lucy Show with his mother alongside his sister Lucie.
Gosh, Lucille Ball is so pretty, she was a pretty baby too, Desi Arnez too, so good looking. I will always love them, their show has brought me so much happiness. ❤
I liked Desi Jr on one of the episodes of mother in law's where he is playing the drums and makes different facial expressions while his father Desi Arnaz sings and dances to the song the straw hatiIt was funny and very entertaining.
R.I.P. Mr Arnaz glad to see Rick Jr found God so sorry for his loss Loved watch the Lucille Ball show the first one second one all of them we didn't have the internet back when he was a kid and I didn't believe much of the Tabloid magazines they had out so this video I was actually cool to find out a little bit about him.
A lot of them, whose parents are celebrities, get everything handed to them. They aren’t raised right and end up growing up without any direction. Therefore, when they’re on their own, they destroy themselves. That sounds like him. Who gets someone pregnant so young? Someone unsupervised.
@@deborahthomas3539 I don't think when you are talking about families that it's all black and white. I think there's a grey line that can go unnoticed. When you have so much money and you get married you want to have children. I think any family can have problems whether rich poor Hollywood or not. I really don't think there's such thing as a perfect family (except for tv show families). In the case of Lucy's family Lucy's daughter didn't have the same problems her brother did. I don't think its right to say that an unsupervised child will do something wrong . You still have to raise your child with trust, and being that he was so young when he did this even if he was supervised he would of found a time and place. because no one especially back then would suspect this ever happening. I feel sorry for the girl he got pregnant back then. She at least with the help of her Mom and Dad raised her daughter (or maybe put her daughter up for adoption) in a time period where she would of been treated quite horribly. Ricky, didn't find out about this daughter until she was older, thank goodness he was wealthy enough to pay for her college. She could of reached out to him earlier, but chose not to. Maybe if she did, He would of been put into the situation of learning to become a Dad . Responsibility has a way of straightening people out . Sometimes when responsibility is thrust upon us, so quickly, we jump into action. This keeps us busy and our heads on straight. Especially when you hold that little one in your arms for the first time, that is when you learn its not about you anymore. He could of completely destroyed his life with the drugs . Thank our Lord, He didn't, what a tragedy that would have been. Will Smith and his wife Jada Pickett Smith have a big their family and they seem to be doing great. They're a a close loving family. Whenever, Will or Jada are asked to do a movie, they work, but the work schedule works with, and in agreeance to the family, always being first. I think that is what children need, they just need there parents to be there.
Boredom and Confusion about identity ... when all your needs are met. You have no direction or internal motivation to achieve something g despite you want for nothing... the children of celebrities fall into this same trap more often than not
I have lived in Boulder City for the past 25 yrs. I met Desi at Carlos' restaurant (I worked there) in Boulder City when they had a closing party for 'Love Letters'. I met Amy when she would come in to the Sinclair gas station (I worked there also) and she had been live trapping cats (in Boulder City) to take them to get fixed and then would bring them back where they were picked up. I had asked about it and she agreed to leave a trap in my yard. She was a really sweet, big hearted lady and I'm happy to have met her.

I'm very glad Desi Arnaz Jr was able to get past his addiction problems, I feel so badly for all the tragedies he's seen, I wish him the peace he so deserves.

Poor Desi = he had such a stressful life trying to live up to his parent's expectations and simply BEING the son of two of showbiz legends
He looks like he has has a stroke as his mouth seems to draw to the right and is pursed. He doesn't look happy at all.

Later on both were on The Love boat.

Five Little Rickys:
He was cute, when he was younger.
I am sorry for kids who grow up really poor in this country: Homeless, little food, education or anything. Also they do not have green lights for getting into professions that will make them lots of money. Labor laws to protect infant children are such that at the child can only be under the hot camera lighting a short time. To shoot the complete screen it is broken into short parts and twins are switched in and out of the shots so the child is not under the light to long but the scene can be shot rapidly anyway. I'm sorry he had troubles in his life, but they were of his own making. I hope he can find peace, health, and happiness.
I hope he finds God, when he does that, he will have found all he needs and the rest will fall into place for him.
@@thisisme3238 is god lost or something?
Addiction is a disease. It is genetic and both his parents had substance abuse issues.
@@tanyairwin3695 No, but he is...and that can definitely be changed with God!
@@thisisme3238 not your call to make. Not everyone believes in that crap.
Thank you for this video. I've often wonder what became of Jr.
I think he turned things around for the better in his life
yes, I agree but, must say, it took him long enough!
When you say "for the rest of his life" it sounds like he died. He is still living as of this time.
Thanks for watching!

It seems these celebrities work hard at becoming famous, then work even harder at destroying themselves.
They simply have the wrong priorities in life, and have the wrong priorities with money too!

Wow I did not know that about Desi arnaz Jr thank you for the info
I have lived in Boulder City for the past 25 yrs. I met Desi at Carlos' restaurant (I worked there) in Boulder City when they had a closing party for 'Love Letters'. I went to see Linda Purl at the Boulder City theater when she sang. She has a beautiful voice and sparkling eyes.
I met a woman in Prescott, AZ whose daughter attended ballet classes with Amy. She knew Amy and Desi and nothing but praise for them. She told me Amy had brain cancer.
It seems everyone in Hollywood is struggling with something :(
For real!!!!!💯🇺🇸😷😢
And out of Hollywood
Like everyone else...
Everyone in the WORLD struggles with something. That's called life :)
We all struggle with something. People need to stop judging. No one knows what others go through behind closed doors!
So very sad. A generational curse plus living under the shadows of his Super-Star parents. God bless him.
