That's exciting! I talked to Gioia several times on the phone and corresponded with her about 10 years ago and we had nice long conversations. She told me all about how she had a lump in her throat that was inoperable so she couldn't see for a few years. She used holistic healing medicines to cure it so she could finally sing again.
I was looking into Expose and she did sing some songs on the first album. It's just unfortunately wasn't released so I just thought she only sung backup until "Stop, Listen, Look And Think" came out.
From what I understand they all shared lead vocals on all the albums. It was just unfortunate that the one's she sang wasn't released. At least not until the second album which was the last single to be released from that album, "Stop, Listen, Look And Think."
Yes, that is what was so unique about this group; they all sing leads on different songs. Some groups such as the Cover Girls only had one lead singer. I like it when all of them can sing well enough to do leads.
And you said this 11years ago, it’s gotten even worse since then! This only way they can get me to watch the Grammys if they feature some classic artists..
David Sukenick I agree with you. I just learned they got back together and have been doing concerts. I am confused though why I'm only seeing them sing songs from there first album
They were huge. Their first 7 singles all hit the top 10 on the Billboard 100. But they had the problem of being a produced group with all the management problems that go along with that (producers taking advantage of the singers) and then Gioia lost her voice and by the time their 3rd album came out music styles had changed. But they were definitely a favorite of my childhood and really big in the mid to late 80s.
I think both really. They got their break when freestyle was huge but at the same time their biggest hit was Seasons Change which was a ballad and had crossed over into pop success. When the third album came out freestyle wasn't really as popular so they went a more adult contemporary route. I enjoyed the third album but it just wasn't the same. But that doesn't take away from the fact that their first two albums were hugely successful and they were the biggest girl group of the time. Also I think any time a band is put together by a producer there are going to be problems that come with the success (initial girls in the group were let go, new girls had legal battles with the producers because they were underpaid, etc.).
Thanks to the 80s and early 90s for the most amazing music that still has meaning today. Expose and the wonderful ballads will be with us forever. Todays crap cant hold a candle to this beautiful music.
Oh, so beautiful. I had forgotten simplicity in my life in the years since passed. I'm will take my daughter to see Expose in Sacramento this year. I'll show her what true female power ballad is all about---it's Expose.
So many things make Expose very special. They have 3 incredible lead vocalists, Jeanette, Ann and Gioia . . . and they could harmonize so exquisitely. Everything they produced is just pure heaven to the ears and soul. Thanks ladies!!
Ann Curless singing lead .. a nice change, smoother sound, and an extention of this groups talents. I have always loved Ann she seemed to be the quiet & sweet one, never the less this song brings her talent & singing ability out in the open. Annie perfect high note 3:37 shows what she can do. Great song and one of my all-time favorites right behind ‘In Walked Love’. From a bygone era when females could sing and didn’t have to dress less to be beautiful. Always wished Ann got more lead vocals. They still remain in my constant play list and personally think they are still the best female group of all time.
I love this song!!!!!!! Expose! the most beautiful voices ever! what a group! Nothing touches my heart like this song! Always believe, dreams do come true!!!!
Thanks so much for uploading this. I love this song; it got me through the time my father was dying. I actually thought of it as things he might be thinking. "There's a better world as long as I can dream." Love you, Papa.
This is such a beautiful song that is different from their 80's music. I believe this one was recorded in the 90's when Expose's music turned more into adult contemporary music instead of freestyle music. It's nice to see Ann singing lead in a song since most of the songs have Jeannette as the lead. They are all really good singers and deserve to have their turn in the spotlight. I actually learned this song and sung it in some singer showcases about 12 years ago. No matter what Expose sings, it turns out beautifully.
@@italianviking80 I was thinking exactly the same thing about Wilson Phillips. I always thought Expose's number 1 song Seasons Change is actually more like adult contemporary than freestyle. So I don't fault Clive Davis for trying that route. I still think Expose outdueled Wilson Phillips in sheer volumes of quality songs such as Seasons Change, In Walked Love, As Long as I can Dream, Your Baby Never Looked so Good in Blue, I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me.
@JudyCerda I ranked my top 10 favorite songs from Expose (1) I know You Know (2) Exposed to Love (3) Come Go with Me (4) Point of No Return (5) Season's Change (6) In Walked Love (7) As Long as I can Dream (8) Love is Our Destiny (9) When I Looked at Him (10) Your Baby Never Looked so Good in Blue, with a lot of remorse leaving out the songs such as I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me, What You Don't Know, Tell Me Why, Let Me Be the One.

Carla Linton. Another one of my favorite Songs by Expose is called. As Long As I Can Dream. This is one of my favorite Old School Slow Jams back in the day.
Huge agreement there. It reminds me of the Bangles, when they started focusing on Susannah Hoffs. All of a sudden Debbie Peterson and Michael Steele were relegated to the background. Ann Curless has a phenomenal voice, but always seemed to play second fiddle to Jeanette Jurado and Gioia Bruno.
Back in that year! In 1992, there was no Kia until 6 years later that year! But i still like them. Nowadays they're too many cars on the road out there! Expose always does a good job than anyone else! Keep it up!

What a beautiful song! You know since I love the 80’s when I was in my 20’s , I never thought I would ever be so nostalgic for the 90’s, but unfortunately the 90’s was the last great decade for beautiful power ballads like this! So sad 😞….

Ann sang lead on 8 Exposé songs: "Extra, Extra" and "Love Is Our Destiny" from _Exposure_ ; "Stop, Listen, Look, and Think" (which SHOULD have gotten a proper single release) and "Now That I Found You" from _What You Don't Know_ ; and "As Long As I Can Dream," "In Walked Love," "I Think I'm in Trouble," and "Angel" from _Exposé_ .

ann did her thig right here... huge fan, i have the 1st (2) tapes(LOL) & cd'z , i never never heard or seen this b4. i love her on "extra extra" & "stop. listen, look & think"
+Anthony Bertorelli Which, looking back, was pretty ill-advised, given that even Wilson Phillips' own popularity was severely declining by the time this album was released. They should've at least pushed more of the uptempo tunes as singles instead of all those ballads.
I blame it on Arista head, Clive Davis, who wanted them to "compete" alongside Wilson Phillips so he sought out ballads for them, practically ignoring their dance roots on the EXPOSÉ album.
@@jamiereitnauer5109 Their primary format of freestyle was already starting its decline in 1989 when their previous album was released, facing competition from hip hop, house, and techno, among others. Building cred in any of those formats is each an endeavor in itself. This album's eclectic music styles, and its choice of cover songs suggests that they were either dabbling in other formats, seeing what would stick, or they were taking the opportunity to try stuff they've wanted to try. I have to wonder how Gioia 's health issues, and Kelly replacing her affected the band's direction and if it drove the change to more more Adult Contemporary music, or were they just excited about recording a lot of Dianne Warren songs. I could see Gioia investing herself into various dance club scenes, but maybe not Kelly. Ann and Jeanette aged many years as well, and have perhaps moved on from that. Continued battles with their management may have also made each of them consider a future apart from Expose.
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy Mariah Carey did well with her ballads, and Expose showed that they do ballads well. Their uptempo tunes on this album were quality too, though as singles it's hard to say how well they'll do given the market and competition, and even if a dance song gains traction in the dance clubs, how well it will sell as singles. Face to Face was this single's the B-side. Wonder why that didn't create any buzz?
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy Agreed! I remember listening to the album for the first time thinking, "Why the hell was, 'I Wish The Phone Would Ring' the lead single from the album?" Interesting! I can relate.... but in this way: Each lead singer I hear is my favorite at that moment... lol! I love EACH of their voices for slightly different reasons..... each has a tone that is all her own. Jeanette has the plaintive, clear pop voice. Gioia has the soulful, raspy voice. Ann has the seasoned, trained, experienced, mature voice (apparently, according to what I'm hearing on this track!).. and each was given the vocal to match the need of the song. Brilliant. Lewis Martineé was the man.
+marvelboy74 Sounds about right. Listening to this and "Stop, Listen, Look and Think" leads me to believe she had the most expansive vocal range in the group.
"Long as I can dream I see a better world. The rain is pouring down don't mean the sun can't be found." Such a beautiful line and I always get emotional because it's such the sweetest line. Lovely song.

I want the 80s and my youth back 🧔🧔
@MrChicago891 Whenever I watch old music vids, comments like yours are always at the top w/ TONS of thumbs up next to them. Folks remembering what pop music USED to be like...stuff that was pure enough for you AND your parents to enjoy together. I wonder....don't record co execs REALIZE how much we want to go back to clean, innocent, truly FUN music like from decades ago? How can they not know this? Even kids watch these old vids & wish music was like this today. I don't get it. Sad......
I keep playing this song on repeat. I’ve heard it many years ago, but I never knew it was Expose! Wow! Now, I’ve been playing it on Spotify
was in six grade when this came out, still it's a classic among the battle of the women groups of today,no chance...
nice replacement for Goia too. Kelly Moneymaker sounds and looks awesome too.
Very well done.
Beautiful ladies with beautiful voices
I love Gioia, but it took me hearing this song to see Ann had the best voice in the group.
Jeanette has always been my favorite, but they all have beautiful voices.
Interesting!
I thought Ann was an alto but she might be a mezzo. Thoughts?
She just obviously has amazingly good range!
+marvelboy74 Sounds about right. Listening to this and "Stop, Listen, Look and Think" leads me to believe she had the most expansive vocal range in the group.
Memories.......
that is the most accurate statement ever made, expose'will to me always be the most well respected artists in music history.
"Long as I can dream I see a better world. The rain is pouring down don't mean the sun can't be found." Such a beautiful line and I always get emotional because it's such the sweetest line. Lovely song.
Like list number 4 says! Nowadays it's hard to find someone who can build a real and strong relation and to build something strong really!
Love this song👍
This song took the Wilson Phillips sound and made it even better.
ann's voice is as beautiful as she is....i wish they would make some new music!!!
