I laboured and delivered all my three girls in water ! Hopefully the forth one too , due December 😊
Congratulations
December 6 for me we’re almost there!😄
I'm due in December too!
I also laboured in water too with all 3 of my girls and hoping to labour my little boy due December also. Best wishes to you momma x
I birthed six on “land “ and one in water. One of the biggest things for me was the water helped me be so aware of him moving down with every contraction. I knew and could feel exactly where he was. I had nothing pushing on my body in any other way and was so motivated by knowing the progress each contraction was doing. This was the first time I feel I really learned how to breath in a way that was beneficial to me. I could finally see how breathing down and relaxing worked. I found all I learned helped so much in my future births.
Can you site the difference with your experience? And your advice to first time moms if they will just try water birth on their 2nd child
My cord snapped during my water birth 🙋🏻♀️
Super super short cord. But it wasn’t from pulling the baby up it was from her rocketing out of me. Her head and body came out in one contraction and it was super fast. So we lost most of her cord blood which was a bummer but all in all it still was a fantastic experience. And I went on to have another waterbirth with my second! ☺️ he also had a short cord but we were prepared this time!
Highly highly recommend waterbirths 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I loved both my experiences!
oh my goodness wow! What are the chances!
I've heard that was possible, but never seen someone who had it happen! So glad you and your baby were okay!
I had my first water birth with my third baby June 2020. It was quick labour. Came hospital 7.20am. Went in water 7.30am and gave birth 7.50am. I had no pain relief the water somehow made my labour seem less painful. At home my labour started 5am 2 minute apart was bearable so my labour progressed so quick. Water is amazing
Literally so nice to have an unbiased opinion on this. Thank you for weighing both options so fairly.
I would like to read some opposing viewpoints based on medical facts or experience from delivering moms and midwives, just for balance
I'm 40 weeks plus 1 day and about to have my 3rd water birth. Good timing! I have had amazing labors and am hoping for another one. I could not have had my birth center and home birth without the water. My first baby I only had 3-5 stitches and my second I only had a tear like a paper cut that I opted to not even have stitched. Thanks for sharing this info and reassurance!
Not pregant yet but I love hearing all the information you have! You are amazing!!
Xoxo
I have a planned water birth with my midwives in a blow up tub in a hospital this month (UC Health Denver, CO)!!! This is my 3rd delivery, and neither of my previous two were in the water, so I am over the moon for this upcoming birth experience!! We are due the 17th, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video when you did!!! You are hands down my favorite resource for all things birth related and this came right on time!!
Love water birth. 3 of 4 of my children were born into water. The one that was not I wanted nothing to do with water. I had all 4 of my children at home with midwife. I would highly recommend water birth. Also no tearing. So wonderful for healing.
So excited my first water birth coming up in April, and I'm really glad to have come across you're chanel. 😊
Laboring in the tub may have been a factor in me laboring super fast 😅 No one expected me to labor quickly but it was 3 hours from my water breaking to baby being born. I got in the tub at 3-4 cm dilated an hour after my water broke and I almost felt like I had to push right away after getting in the tub. It was actually like an hour after getting in the tub but it was sooo quick 😯
My water birth was absolutely incredible! Absolutely going to be trying for water births with any and all figure babies I have ❤️
Sarah is hilarious I love the bloopers!
So excited to try for my water birth in March! Thank you so much for the info!
I did it with my last two and i loved it, i also love being in water so much ☺️
I am doing a home water birth in May and am so excited too. Thanks for all the info.
Such great information!!!! Thank you so happy I found your channel!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I did this with my forth children and I plan on doing this with my next may 6th 2021
Thank you so much for your videos. Currently 26 weeks and planning for water birth at a birthing center. I am living overseas and have fantastic medical care, but it is so comforting to find someone who can talk at length about all the birthing topics who is from my home country. Super helpful. :)
Are you going to do a video on giving birth in the woods? Lol that's where I picture myself.
😂😂😂
I kept saying I'd pop this one out in the garden and I think that's why my husband didn't till it for me this year lol
I have had 4 hospital births medicated. 3 home water births. And will be in the hospital due to a large fibroid beyond my control. Hands down the water births were the most amazing and would do it again if I could.
I had an all natural water birth at a birthing center and it was absolutely beautiful for the labor and delivery but I almost died afterwards. From the start of my contractions to meeting my baby was only 6 hrs. Everything was great and then about 10 minutes after I had him I was getting some serious pain that was getting worse. Turned out I had a hematoma. My husband had to rush me to the hospital and my hematoma ruptured 30 minutes later. It was the most intense pain I’ve ever felt and if it would’ve ruptured at the birthing center, I probably would’ve died. My body was in shock and I was shaking sooooo bad. They took me to emergency surgery and I had 4 blood transfusions. I was in ICU on a breathing tube for almost 3 days. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever gone through. Luckily my husbands family lives here and was able to take care of my baby but that was so rough being separated. So just know, there’s always a chance something could go wrong. I thought “oh I’m 23, young and healthy, nothing bad will happen.” But there’s always that small chance. The nurse said what I went through was super rare and it’d be even more rare for it to happen again but I still have a little bit of fear of childbirth now. Having a water birth was absolutely beautiful though! It’s just bad if there’s an emergency.
oh my goodness thank you for sharing what a scary experience! I'm so glad you're ok!
There are hospitals that offer water births, that’s what I’m doing. Maybe it’s a nice compromise for you and next baby. Best wishes to you, so glad you are still with us. ❤
my hospital offers their tubs for both laboring and delivering and when my doctor told me that, I was really shocked honestly
Butterworth in Grand Rapids, Michigan has one in the birth center.
Here in Australia my hospital has a blow up pool for water births! I wouldn’t do it but this was interesting
This was so helpful, thank you very much.
In Dayton Ohio there is a hospital with a birth center in it, that’s where I was blessed enough to have my water birth with my first baby... I wish there were more birth centers in hospitals because I would have definitely did it again with my second but where we moved doesn’t have that and so I went with a regular hospital😢 didn’t enjoy the experience as much!
I just did a water birth on October 16! That was my third of three children, I plan to do only water births in the future!
Thank you for the info. I'm due December 26,2020 🤰🏻👶🏻💖 I Cant wait to have my son in my arms. Thank You God.
I’m due the 26th too with a little boy 😭🙏🏽❤️
At wakemed in Raleigh NC they have (at least when I was there) they had tubs in 2 out of the 7 labor rooms and showers in every room
In greensboro, NC where I live, the new Cone Health women’s hospital has water birth tubs in every room! So wonderful!
Just gonna post my question here and perhaps you'll answer it in your next coffee and questions.😊 So when attempting a VBAC (first baby was a C-section) do all the when to go to the hospital tips apply?
How about having gram postive bacteria and water birth is that possible to go without IV antibiotics
Thank you for this ! Due December 27th with my 3rd. Definitely wanna experience a water birth with this last pregnancy❣️
How common is shoulder dystocia?
My niece got her shoulder stuck on her way out, she was only 6lbs13oz. My sister didn’t tear and she pushed for like 10-15 minutes total. I’m due in two months and want a water birth but am a little worried about shoulder dystocia since I saw it first hand in the delivery room with her.. it was pretty traumatic with all the nurses and doctor yelling and working quick to force the baby out. I don’t think I’ve ever been so stressed in my life, and don’t want to have a similar experience.
I laboured in the pool but went in very early at 5cm and it kept getting cold because I went in too early. I think it's nice for relaxing but probably best to accept that it may be just for pain relief rather than birthing in.
Having my 2nd in a month and would get in the pool again but with the mind that labour may not happen in there.
I’m in Florida and Sarasota memorial hospital has 1 room with a tub! I wish they had more, but one is better than nothing! ❤️
Hi fellow Sarasota/Florida mom! I'm south of Sarasota but my son was born in SMH. I then went on to have a home birth and with this baby I'm planning a water birth 😊
Unrelated to this video but I had severe SPD while pregnant with my second baby. I’m six months postpartum and it’s still just as bad if not worse. I have to have my husband move my legs for me to even get out of bed. Is this normal or should I see my OB?
I'm hoping to have a water birth with my 4th delivery. I've never had one before, never high risk, easy labors.. so hoping it works out.
we had blow up tubs at the hospital I used to work at! It's in Columbia, SC.
Oh wow I’m from Columbia, SC😂
Is there any way to provide captions for this video?
Am in newyork I want water birth n I have just one month to go but I don’t know how to go about it
I was in the delivery room with the mother of my newest foster baby, and her cord snapped! I had seen births before, but never anything like that 😅 It wasn’t a water birth though. Water birth is my dream!
My hospital allows laboring in water but not giving birth in the water. They have big tubs they bring into the room.
Desperate for your help! First time being pregnant, 14 weeks along. Since week 4 I've had pain in the same spot, like a sharp burning pain. Had ultra sounds of tubes and ovaries. Theyre clear and Baby is right where it should be. They think it could be scar tissue attached to my uterus from a previous exploratory appendectomy 3 years ago. Well it's been so bad at work every night I have to sit down and take Acetaminophen because it hurts. Is there anything i can do to help?
This woman is not a doctor. She doesn’t have the formal medical education of an MD and would be no help.
By any chance can you talk in depth about cervical cerclage and also the removal? I'm currently 33 weeks and because of Covid-19 there's only so much I can learn and actually know if it's the correct information.
Btw I found you because of Chia and Tim ❤❤❤ and I am loving your videos and all the info I'm getting
Yay!! Love them! I'll add to my list! I think I mention cerclage in a coffee and questions in the mean time
@@sarahlavonne thank you! I'll search them in the meanwhile
I wanted to labor in the tub with my first birth, but I labored at home/had a pretty fast labor so even though I got a hospital room with a tub we wouldn't even have had time to fill it. But my hospital has 4 tub rooms now (up from 2) and I plan on actually getting to the hospital earlier this time so hopefully I can try laboring in the tub! I did take a shower at home in early labor and that was pretty great.
I’m also in the LA area and I was wondering what are the two hospitals off the top of your head that will deliver in water?
I love watching you’re videos btw thanks for all the awesome content! (Currently 19 weeks, obsessing with getting as much info as possible recently😂)
If I can’t have epidural and deliver in water can I have two doses of Tylenols then get in my water
What kind of camera or video equipment are you using?
All my gear is on my youtube amazon list! Linked in description!
Hmm okay but what about the “stuff” in the tub after birth? I want one so bad but my husband is thinking he’ll be grossed out by this exaggerated thick gross water and i can’t birth in a tub comfortably thinking he’s not comfortable..
I can’t find anyone online that talks about the water after birth and i need some direction or visual of what to expect
I'll answer tomorrow live!
I wish I could have a waterbirth. There are no birthing centers or hospitals near me that allows it. I have decided to go to become a CNM, so I can open a birthing center in my area. All women should have the choice to try to delivery the way they imagine it to happen.
I definitely wish the hospital I delivered at had a soft blow up pool. The one they offer is soooo hard, a thin plastic pool with hard walls 😭
Sutter in Davis, CA has tubs for water births
I think the new Sac Sutter Downtown does too!!
My hospital has the blow-up tub! (In Holland) ☺️
I have had 2 babies on land - both had short cords! So with my 3rd, while I plan to labor in the pool, I definitely want to birth on land!
The hospital I’m going to be giving birth this time and they have offered water birth to me. I’m thinking about it.
Just in time!! I’m planning a water birth & im due nov 18th lpl
I'm due 18th also! Going to labor, but not birth, in water.
How did it go?!
What would happen if the cord snaps? And what would a nurse or doctor do in that case?
On the whole they would encourage a position change, empty bladder or even breastfeeding. These will all encourage the placenta to come out.
If the placenta doesn’t come then theatre may be needed for removal.
Some doctors can remove the placenta manually in the room but it depends on the trust and their policy.
This is general information and may be different depending on the country, hospital and most up to date medical advice ☺️
They would need to grab or clamp both ends of the cord very quickly otherwise both baby and mom are at very high risk for hemorrhage and complications of it.
Yes! it sounds like. you're describing a retained placenta ;)
No tubs in the hospital where I live and I want a water birth 😞💔
Pregnant with my 4th and I'm considering a water birth this time around. Tha k you for this video!
I'm planning on having a water birth in the future. Really hoping not to tear.
Check out Sarah’s perineal massage video
I hear a lot of women that say you shouldn't push the baby out. They would rather just relax through the contractions and let the body push the baby on its own. Is it safe? What the proper way to get the baby out. In hospital the midwife always say push harder, give me a good strong push etc.
Could you talk about this topic? @Sarrah Lavonne
With my 3rd, I had a water birth and didn't push. It's called fetal ejection reflex. She crowned slowly, giving everything time to stretch. My midwife said it was the most beautiful crowning she'd every seen. I'm due with #8 soon and told my provider absolutely no coached pushing. I want to labor down. For me, laboring down with no practice pushes or coached pushing has resulted in baby being born in one or two pushes.
I didn’t intentionally push at all. My body did all the work for me :-) It’s the Fetal Ejection Reflex. Do some reading about it, it’s a natural reflex that all birthing women have, it’s just a matter of allowing it to happen.
The video needs words/closed captions as you can’t watch it next to a sleeping toddler with the sound on.
Ok but what about pooping? I would love to labor in the water but I don’t want to soak in water with poop in it 😂 I don’t think I pooped with my first birth but I know I peed.
Pooping during labor is normal and natural unfortunately. Let's normalize it. Would you rather poop on land? Lol
@Olechka Nova literally yes. It would be incredibly unhealthy to sit in a pool with poop in it...
From what I understand, they use a sieve and fish your poop out of the water if you do. Also, because they regulate the temp, they are consistently letting some water out and refilling with fresh warm water. So you wouldn't sit in the same water the whole time, whether you poop or pee or not; it should be cycled out
This was years ago and I’m now pregnant with my third baby but I felt the need to circle back! Yes, I would much rather poop on land lol. I ended up laboring in the hospital tub for only about 15 minutes because my second labor went pretty quick. Didn’t poop lol. But I felt more comfortable actually delivering out of the water. I hope I can labor in the tub with my third baby as well.
Why can't you do epidural with water birth?
When you have an epidural the healthcare providers strap you to the bed with monitors and don’t allow you to move off of your back.
An epidural basically prevents any feeling from the waist down. So you can't even walk (or feel your feet)
Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater Florida has birthing tubs and if you are delivering with a midwife and doula they will let you deliver in the tub. Most of the doctors would rather you get out to a bed to deliver after laboring in the tub!
This is where I'm set to birth at! Im hoping i can try for a water birth, especially since I was hit by a car 8 months ago in October 2022 and my OB is worried that due to spine problems an epidural could be problematic for me. Im only ~18 weeks along though, so plenty of time for planning
According to Dr. Carl Sagan and evolutionary biologists generally, the survival and reproduction advantages of large craniums have caused hominid and human head sizes even in infancy to grow so quickly that human birth has become painful and challenging. Where possible, the best scientific mitigation solution to this is underwater births, where submerged there is far less gravity thus less friction, strafing, pain and medical damage during birth. This is my original thought, though ostensibly other medical experts understand this.
I love all your clothes
Water birth is highest chance of fetal death. So you’ve got issues like cord snapping, infection to the baby from all the associated tissues expelled during birth. Not to mention the chance of baby inhaling water.
If you all want to risk it because it’s popular and cool go right ahead but it’s extremely risky.
That's not evidence based
