Lol wow, I jammed everything in and nothing fit, once i turned it on its side and slid my dehydrated meals sideways like that, i had a whole extra layer for more stuff! I was apparently missing some common sense. Appreciate the vid, thanks!!

    By my calculations:
    - The BV500 is 11.5L volume.
    - The density of fat is 900g per liter.
    - The energy density of fat is 9 calories per gram.
Thus you can fit 93150 calories, or about 31 days worth of food at 3000 calories a day.
    Hope this helps 😊

I put half dinner half breakfast on first level and same for second. You have to get all the breakfast out of the way to get to a dinner ? Harder to choose a dinner unless you empty the can.

I'm not seeing beverages. Also, and please bear with me as I've never used a cannister which is why I'm watching this video, but wouldn't it make more sense to pack one days breakfast lunch and dinner together so you don't have to unpack dig through and repack for each meal? I think I could have packed a bit more in there since I've been making survival kits since I was a kid. Thanks for the upload

Beverages on trail are usually just water, some people do use Mio or similar for flavoring. Beverages usually happen in abundance in town or resupply locations. For a 1-4ish day trip in a BV500 you could package your BL&D together but trying to make 7+ days of food fit can difficult at times I load my canister anyway I can make the most fit. I Hope this helps.

How do you rehydrate your food? In a separate pot, or do you rehydate in that ZipLock??

I boil my water in a separate pot then pour it into my Ziploc freezer bag and let sit for 30 +/- minutes 😋

Is it strong enough to sit on as a makeshift chair while at camp?

I think it wouldn't be bearproof if the bear could just sit on it to get it open.

Don't pack your canister like this, you have to dig everything out to get to dinners and so on. You should pack it so you can work your way down from the top getting snacks, bfasts and dinners without digging everything else out. After you have eaten 3 or so days worth of food it is easier, but don'e segregate all of your meals types like was done here.

When packing this much food into a bear cannister I find this is the best way for me. I can decide what I want to eat day by day. Once a few days of food are gone I organize accordingly 🍽️

WTF??? Clip says 500, 450 and more. Vids only about 500. Mean what you say so people's time isn't wasted.

Most Bear Cannisters are based off the same concept the storage of food and scented items for bear safety regardless of brand, make, model the main difference is the volume sizes & weights.
      Happy Trails ✌️
