If they don't play this at my funeral, I'm not going...
Totally & completely tastelessly STOLEN, from your death day ceremonies lol
I too, will not be going if not played ha ha
I hear funerals are for stiffs...now a wake on the other hand...
Me too bro 😂
SAME
You won't be seeing me their either if they don't
This is the heartbeat of something of ancient who is still breathing, we forgot it, we denied it. But it still exists
Indigenous peoples and Pagans have never forgotten. We still live it.
This.
💚
Nope, they just converted to Christianity and felt they were right in doing so. lol. The Christian God(If you dont believe) still created what we see before us, anything lesser exists under HIS rule and the only way to Salvation is through Christ!
Imagine how awesome this would sound in a mountain forest in a dark winter night, with a fire burning
You should try it for yourself- it's worth it. Memorize the lyrics first.
💜💜💜
It's worth it.
I went to the Mountains yesterday and did exactly that.
i tried it that way it was an amazing experience
heilung makes me want to be alone in the forest for the rest of my life.
me too
Go, be free!!
@@couterei.1953 Why?
I think so many of us get this feeling but we know deep down that there is some element of modern society that is profoundly sick. I think the truth is that we do not want to be alone but we also no longer want to bathe in the sickness. The answer is to address the problems in social structure; to not assume that all in the past is obsolete. There are some things that have been forgotten that should not have been forgotten.
And then you meet the son of loki.
When I die, I want this sung at my funeral as they set my ship on fire.
this isn't viking
@@Sheepdog1314 you don't have to be Viking to get this kind of burial :P
@@Sheepdog1314 actually they make songs from the Iron Age and Viking Age, so yeah he can use this song to have an ancient burial. I have to agree, I need an ancient burial whilr listening to this song.
@@Sheepdog1314 Who used the term Viking?
People were using ship burials for hundreds of years before the Danes rocked up.
@@stephenwilliams8861 Ship burials and Ships "set on fire" are 2 different beasts
Ship burials were definitely a practice of the indo-europeans, buring ships were/are almost unheard of, there was maybe a handful of historical accounts of burning ships, and by "a handful" i do mean probably less than five
But its visually stunning and so was written into almost every novel, tv-show or movie concerning late iron-age northern europeans
However, this is the modern age, and you can sure pick more or less any type of funeral rites you wish to have performed
This is definitely a good tune ot have played, i will certainly be buying the album
I was going to add i will raise a horn of mead to you on your fated day, but since i dont know you or when that may be, i shall just have to raise a horn or two of mead every day just to be on the safe side
i suffer from anxiety and this song helps me to forget about shit love this band
Ancient chants, the tone and rhythm, all have meaning. They weren't just for entertainment.
Beautiful, Heilung knows how to stir the soul.
What a nice verb you used. Cheers
Thanks, cheers to you friend. :)
And Maria Franz's voice sends shivers up and down my spine in the nicest possible way.
This song would make a brilliant theme tune for 'Vikings'. How say you/
I wholly agree.
Reject Modernity, Embrace Tradition
Return to monke
Just love Maria's voice. I may not understand, but I thoroughly enjoy it.
This is the Icelandic Rune Poem, you can follow along to the lyrics roughly here: lyricstranslate.com/en/runaljod-runic-poem.html-0 This is a song by a similar artist but it is essentially the same.
Maria is singing something like:
Fé, wealth is a source of discord among kinsmen; the wolf lives in the forest.
Úr, dross comes from bad iron; the reindeer often races over the frozen snow.
Þurs, giant causes anguish to women; misfortune makes few men cheerful.
Óss, estuary is the way of most journeys; but a scabbard is of swords.
Reið, riding is said to be the worst thing for horses; Reginn forged the finest sword.
Kaun, ulcer is fatal to children; death makes a corpse pale.
Hagall, hail is the coldest of grain; Christ created the world of old.
Nauðr, constraint gives scant choice; a naked man is chilled by the frost.
Isa, ice we call the broad bridge; the blind man must be led.
Ar, plenty is a boon to men; I say that Frodi was generous.
Sol, sun is the light of the world; I bow to the divine decree.
Tyr, Tyr is a one-handed god; often has the smith to blow.
Bjarkan, birch has the greenest leaves of any shrub; Loki was fortunate in his deceit.
Maðr, man is an augmentation of the dust;great is the claw of the hawk.
Lógr, a waterfall is a River which falls from a mountain-side; but ornaments are of gold.
Ýr, yew is the greenest of trees in winter; it is wont to crackle when it burns.
You don't need to speak the languge or know the words to understand this song.
@@tonyberg6861 ... and I wonder how many people will ask how many times they can make the alphabet song with runes ;P [and it gets better every time...]
GC Well to be fair, In Maidjan is about the Elder Fuþark and this is the Younger. It may not seem different at first but they are actually two completely different things from different times and languages, I like it, the Elder Fuþark evolved into the Younger Fuþark and this sound is an evolved sound from Heilung. They did an amazing job with this!
One of the reasons why I enjoy Heilung is because, unlike most of what we see in depictions of old Germanic religion today, they do have a healthy balance between the masculine and the feminine in their music and imagery. Nowadays the Heathen world is dominated by images of big, strong and sweaty men, sword-wielders, axe-grinders, and shield-brothers. We get so much emphasis on gods like Odin and Thor, yet what about all the others? What of the mother and the celebration of fertility? What of the concept of life-bearing and rebirth? What of Frigg, Freyja, and the seeress'? Heilung has been using a lot of imagery, even in this "music video" that depicts the more feminine side of Heathen culture, using Maria as a focal point, as well as the images around her of the spread eagle women holding open their, well, happy places. I enjoy this. As much as I admire the strength-promoting, hero-worshiping and war-going concepts in old Germanic heathenry, I also can appreciate that other half of it that makes a healthy society possible: the mother and the celebration of her fertility. It's something both me and my wife can admire when we think back to our forefathers' and where we come from.
Nixxiom well said
Unfortunately what we had of the stories of Freya, Frigg, Helja, et al, all were lost in the christian conversion. One can only hope some family saved the stories and we simply haven't seen them yet. I would love to have descriptions of galdr and sieđr both as well!
In many elder cultures, from old Pacific Islander Cultures and Shinto to The old Nordic and Celtic, Faiths... women were part of the balance and many held positions of high regard. The concept of a "Wise Woman" is not new, and women represent a vital part of the cycle of life.
As christianity and islam are cultures dominated by misogyny and patriarchy, they would try to minimize and subjugate women.
Nixxiom it’s time for you to redpill asmongold
Nixxiom?! Didn't expect you here, though fitting!

This one is so peaceful and beautiful. All I could think of was people telling their kids about the gods and their legends in the woods around a campfire. The trees are covered in snow and as the wood keeps burning figures emerge within the flames of the fire. The green auroras shine above them and animals approach the group and listen aswell.
This is THE band that does not need copyright enforcement to motivate people buying their albums even when they have free access. And it speaks.
After hearing Othar and Lifa, Heilung had become one my most important musical discoveries. Their music just brings me feeling emotionally industructable to where I just let everything go and cease to be. It feels spiritual, which is new to me.

Maria is the earth mother. The earth is speaking through her.
The words, I think, are not here to be heard by the ears, or understood to by the mind - but to be felt by the soul.

The harmony of throat singing and Maria's insanely beautiful voice. This is exactly what we need to combat the domination of silly little pop songs that have no meaning, no soul.
What are pop songs? They don't exist in my world! Not with HEILUNG!!!! 💪
Generic modern pop is like fastfood, you just consume it. Its just another simple product put forward for masses to consume.
