    Id say the main reason id choose r7 over the rs660 is because parts are way cheaper to upgrade and get. Honeslty its preference imo

    Only thing about doing the maintenance yourself on this bike is that it voids the warranty. You just take it into an authorized Aprilia dealer whenever it hits a certain amount of miles for it's check up. Usually runs around $500.

    10/10 review Carter, appreciate the slow and fast rides (pause) and your honest opinion with negative seat position was it down to how tall you are or not ?

      @KROWARIZONA 7 месяцев назад +1

      I’m 6.1 foot tall and tucking was also an issue for me. I really liked the RS660 and I tested it but I ended up buying a R7

    • @SheldonHughes-ok4fm
      @SheldonHughes-ok4fm 7 месяцев назад +1

      Ow okay well I’m under 6ft so I should be alright but both beautiful bikes but there one thing can’t stand the r7 engine note, puts me off. It sounds like a 450 4 stroke cross with a Harley Davidson to me, maybe it sound different in person but every video I’ve hear with an exhaust it doesn’t sound great. Ima have to try them both out but my heart is for the RS660

      @@carterleewalker I gotta say that it actually not a big deal with the cowl seat. I tested the RS660 with that cowl seat and for me tucking was terrible.

      @@SheldonHughes-ok4fm The RS660 is a better bike compared with the R7 for sure. About the sound.. well, this is a personal opinion, but the RS660 sounds really nice.

    How does this compare to a Honda Shadow Spirit 750?
    The Shadow gets about 50mpg, top speed of 120mph, and I can buy a cherry mint 2008 with 8000 miles on it for 1900.
    How much would a used 15 year old RS660 cost? I like that it is an inline twin and has some extra features than just a bog standard motorcycle.

    • @carterleewalker
      @carterleewalker  7 месяцев назад

      RS660 came out in 2021. Retailing for around 10-12k. Your best bet is to get an FZ07. But the deal on the Shadow doesn’t seem bad at all. As long as it runs

      @@carterleewalker Going to pick up the 2008 Shadow Spirit on Wednesday. Just fetched a truck and trailer parked in my front yard. 150 mile trip. 1900 plus gas. He originally listed it for 3000, but apparently I was the one that was most interested and enthusiastic and friendliest in emails after the craigslist ad ran out.
      I'm skeptical about buying a water cooled V twin... got as easy to take the top end off of like my inline twins which I can do with the engine still in the bike. A V twin is going to be a headache, no matter what reputation it has for being a swiss watch reliable bike. The carb don't look too terrible to take out. The shaft drive looks like it might complicate replacing the rear brake drums but I'll figure that out when I get there.
      MY good friend just this morning, and then the guy got back to me saying he missed my first pick up message, how about Wednesday, so it's now a moral imperitive to go pick up the bike. 🙂
      My house trailer cost 10-12K, so yeah, never paying that for a motorcycle. That's just a crazy st00p1d price.
      Drive defensively. Bug splat ain't useful to no one.

      They are all good bikes. It’s a great time to find what you want. I love the cbr650r but I’m strictly a “street/hwy” rider. Not looking for the ridiculous low down torque but do want the upper top speed so it’s good for any highway situation. The cbr is fast top end. And I’m an old guy 😜 so the comfort factor is important and it’s great for a sport bike. (And super reliable). But I’m not downing the Aprilia or the R7 - it just depends on what you want.

      I am actually going the opposite route! Sold my 2020 Yamaha R6 because it was just too much of an aggressive riding position but on the track it’s a beast. I never planned to track it so sold it and now debating between the Aprilia RS660 or Ducati Supersport 950s.

      @@gameguy93 I actually went from a Sportster S to a Low Rider S which I thought was WAY better, to a R6, and ended up going with the Aprilia RS660. For the sports bike the RS660 is probably the better choice ONLY IF you have an Aprilia dealer near you! If you’re looking for more comfort then the 950s will sit more upright, and the Sportster S will sit even more upright than all 3.

    Only a matter of time before this guy dles the way he is doing all that irresponsible lane splitting, distracted while talking to a mike and filming, or driving with hands off the handle bars. Does he have basic motorcycle skills. Yes. Do drivers not see him and do lane changes or pull out in front of motorcyclists at random. Yes. It's not that one lacks the skills to lane split, it's that no drivers in America expect or account for it... at all. One is basically playing russian roulette and spinning that revolver barrel 10 times in a row when y0u go lane splitting down an interstate. As a motorcyclist myself of 20 years, rain or shine, please don't follow this guys example. If you need to go anywhere this fast, leave 10 minutes early, and drive your bike like a car, how car drivers expect and account for you to drive like them.
