Perfect timing, I’m about to be off work for a bit and my plan is a 5-day-a-week gym routine and this is exactly right for the more treat side of meal prep
Okay this officially my favorite meal prep right after cajun chicken pasta. I love simple meals like this, full of flavor and the smell is incredible. Just thinking about the dish makes my mouth water.
Just wanted to say I finally got around to doing this. Very good recipe this one, it's creamy, perfectly cooked through and has a velvet texture to it plus the BBQ notes for taste and smell. It may look like a lot of chicken at the start and you're likely fretting about emulsions (cream/milk) that need careful attention - especially wen you add cheese - but if you follow the recipe exactly as described, you can't mess this up. It tastes great and you easily get 5 hearty portions out of it from 1 hour at the stove. I did this with fusilli which does just as well as, if not better than, macaroni. Try this out - it's worth it.
Awesome! I actually make this meself already, so great to see your take on it. I like to add Cholula hot sauces to the mac 'n cheese, both regular and a splash of chipotle 'cos it is very spicy! I also like to sub in cottage cheese for the light cheese sometimes for a different flavour and even bigger dose of protein! Thanks for the video, Chef!
Oh yum. This looks and sounds amazing. 🦻🏻 pepper whisper was in there during the creamy cheese sauce making. You just keep making some great recipes. Thank you Chef Jack.
Love the higher calorie recipes, I'm a skinny guy and I prefer to have regular to high calorie meals, bonus points for protein. Have loved your recipes and I even reduce it from 5 servings to 4 for an even more filling meal.
That barbecue chicken mac and cheese looks incredible. I love the combination of sweet and savory flavors. It seems like a perfect comfort food for any occasion.
Not trying to bulk but i do work in construction so a meal like this is great for me. Also gym daily so i dont need to worry too much about meals with a slightly higher calorie count if they have the protein to make up for it.
Yummy Chef Jack, top shelf as always. Now keep my portion on warm please coming from the states sooo going to be a little late for lunch😂. Your awesome, I appreciate you sharing your craft. Not enough time in the world to Thank you for what you have done to my household. So much love from the " States "❤
Thank you for uploading this video BBQ chicken Mac and cheese looks absolutely delicious 😋 I’m most definitely looking for a really filling really delicious meal and something different to 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
i find its best to leave the meat on the side, so when i reheat, I reheat the main part 50%, add meat and then reheat rest of the way. meat isn't microwave friendly, i think... so i use the rice or pasta to reheat it indirectly .. also leave it out of the fridge few hours prior
Wait is that not chicken breast 0:20? Also for chicken breast I tend to get a lot of liquid in the pan which I believe results in rubbery chicken from steaming, do you have any tips to avoid that or even just easily drain that juice?
Yes, its 100% chicken breast. Stupid mistake on my end and somehow didnt catch it. Make sure the pan is hot to be able to sear it properly. When adding things to a pan that isnt hot enough, it will cool the pan even more and that results in boiling the chicken. Overcrowding the pan is also a bug culprit.
@@ChefJackOvens haha no don’t worry, you’re used to cooking with chicken thighs. But thank you so much! I actually think I have been doing both of those things so I will have to watch out for that😬 cheers man!
is there anything like this you could recommend for vegetarians without using fake chicken but also without greatly sacrificing protein by removing the chicken element entirely?
@@ChefJackOvens found it; definitely going to invest in one to make bulk cooking easier. I drive trucks for a living so meal prep at home to take for the week and I’ve already saved a few of your videos to try different things every week. Really great channel and glad I came across it!
Quick question - 1.2k of chicken seems a lot for 400g pasta is this just to create a high protein meal ? Will the ingredients remain the same with half the amount of chicken ?
Bro you serious about that mac n cheese has 407 kcal per 250 gr cause 100gr of pasta has 350 kcal and you put also cream cheese inside even if is low fat it has enough calories. i'm just curious
The Caribbean in me is screaming after hearing you say 3-4 days in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer. A lot of us tend to cook enough to keep in the fridge for 5-6 days 😅. As for freezing, sometimes stuff that's been in there for 6+ months get heated up and served. Never had food poisoning or anything, probs because we're built different 🤣
Sorry, Chef, but Mac and Cheese is one thing that I don't eat, it absolutely makes me throw up, the BBQ chicken looks bloody delicious, until you mixed it through, I'm tipping it tastes great, but not my cup of tea
I somehow decided to say chicken thigh and didnt notice me saying it. Its chicken breast! If you learn anything from this video, dont be like me haha
I was just thinking… “Chef that’s not…”😂
Perfect timing, I’m about to be off work for a bit and my plan is a 5-day-a-week gym routine and this is exactly right for the more treat side of meal prep
I hope you make more high calorie high protein recipes, they are hard to come by. Looks amazing
yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeeeees! This is exactly what I need at the moment, a nice big boy meal. Thank you so much mate!
Always a pleasure mate! Please enjoy it

I love these substantial food recipes of yours. If you could come up with 1-2 more 70-80g protein creations I'd be really set. Subscribed.
Sure thing! Thank you!
@@ChefJackOvens and thank you again new Sub here ( high Protein )😊

I was thinking the same. Or a lovely tossed salad if having as an meal at home : )

Thanks for adding Macros. This is a great idea.
All the meal prep videos have macros included 🙌🙌
@ChefJackOvens
Yes, the only thing missing is the fiber amount to get true net carbs. Thanks Chef
please more bulking ones, these are amazing. thank you

Made this with whole wheat pasta & smoked gouda. It was good for dinner, looking forward to seeing how it rehears next couple of days

Hey Jack DO U ALSO LIFT BRO?
Also 77g protein! I'm impressed
You have blessed the bulk with this recipie holy
is there anything like this you could recommend for vegetarians without using fake chicken but also without greatly sacrificing protein by removing the chicken element entirely?

Ok, it’s on for meal prep day!
More bulking meal prep plz !!!
100% going to try this soon, will let u know how it goes
Brilliant. Thank you
Definitely making this
Yes bro I will try
Let me know what you think!
Yummy will make 😊
I wouldn't even say this is all that high calorie just looking at the nutrition facts you shared.
Looks yummy! 😋 What veggies would you recommend if I wanted to add some?
Oh delicious 😋
Looks delish
Made this last night and was so easy to follow your tutorial.
Where can one find a large pan like the one you’re using?
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it! I use hexclad and this is their biggest pan I believe

What is the pan and cooking element?
Hi Jack,
Is it the smallest 450 canister you are using for the meal preps..?
Hey Den! I use 750ml
Try it

yummie
great video thank you
I need that PAN! 😮😢
Pat pat
What is light cream? I can’t find it, go you mean light whipped cream?
Thats the one
Quick question - 1.2k of chicken seems a lot for 400g pasta is this just to create a high protein meal ? Will the ingredients remain the same with half the amount of chicken ?
Pasta when cooked more than doubles in weight. So it will even out
@@ChefJackOvensthank you for the quick reply. I was waiting to cook 😊 you are always my go to for cooking. My boys will love this I’m sure
It’s a pleasure. Please enjoy. If you wanted to make less chicken, it’s perfectly fine to lower the amount. 800g-1kg is also a good amount
Does your Dig In cookbook have these meal prep recopies in it? Or does it have macros for each recipe?
Dig In doesn’t include meal prep recipes 🙌
@@ChefJackOvens I'd buy a meal prep book in a heartbeat! I mean... when you've recovered from getting the first one out. Really love your work.
Is there a substitute to bbq sauce that isnt hot sauce?
77g of protein for 749 calories is an incredible meal!
It really is!
Wat is the knife your using
That looks like chicken breast, not chicken thighs ;).
But great looking recipe all the same!
It sure is chicken breast! Im so used to saying chicken thigh, i didnt even realise.
You said thigh, instead of breast. Awesome recipe necertheless
@@seventeenth5878 I immediately heard the same thing. I was like “those must be the hugest thighs ever!” Lol
@@TheTriGuy Such a silly mistake. Im so used to saying thigh i didnt even realise.
Dude where are you getting these MACROS from?! LOL
MyFitnessPal pro. They’re legit macros

Yep! Everything is ran through myfitnesspal. It’s also dry weights
❤❤❤
I thought you said BBQue chicken but you are using fresh chicken
The flavour is bbq chicken not barbecued chicken 🙌
@@ChefJackOvens ok thanks for explaining that
Did you say chicken thigh? That looks like chicken breast
I hope I didn’t say chicken thigh. It’s definitely chicken breast
Maybe a slip of the tongue, but I was going to use chicken thigh anyway
I noticed but just chose to ignore as we all slip with the tongue. Could see they were big chicken breasts. I reckon though you could use thigh 😊
@@ChefJackOvenswell ya did but you know shows ya human and we all make slips.
@@brucelee3388 im so used to saying chicken thigh i didnt even realise. Sorry guys
🤤
*chicken breast. We know what you meant tho 👍
I cant believe i missed that. Im so engraved into saying chicken thigh it went right over my head.
I tried making this and my cheese sauce curdled 🙃
Did you use pre shredded cheese?
I used grated cheddar. Cream cheese, and milk.
Please do a bulking series!!!! rest of youtube bulking meals taste like S*** !!
Brother - you’re using chicken breast not thigh 😅
Yes I made a mistake. So used to saying chicken thigh it just slipped off the tongue and I didn’t even realise until now
Those are definitely not chicken thighs lol
Yep I didn’t even catch myself saying that. Very poor mistake on my behalf. Sorry about that
